Persuasion is my favourite book. Ever. Imagine how I feel about this monstrosity. The writers and directors hate introverted, sensitive, caring people. They hate Jane Austen. And their audience. All this talking instead of showing... Do they think we're stupid? They even managed to butcher the most beautiful letter in literature. Watch the 1995 adaptation with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds, or the 2007 one with Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones.

I love hearing your thoughts about this series so much! It'd be amazing if you blogged about the rest of it! I love your sincerity and hearing your feelings (even though it's funny hearing them in hindsight, especially about Lien who I have a lot of spoillery feelings about) No spoilers but, as someone who finished the series, you should trust Novik. It might be painful at times but in the end she always does right by Laurence and Temeraire. In other notes, Empire of Ivory will answer some of the questions you had in this blog :)

ALSO (sorry I know people hate when I double text I forgot to mention it!) oh my god the eavesdropping w. miscommunication - it's the worst! I think if it's done really really well, it can set you up for a plot twist later on (like if the main character is eavesdropping on a secret villain or sth) but usually it's like their love interest and it's soo obvious that they're misunderstanding what they overheard ughhh 😂

Totally get what you mean with the .. mediocre books - I'd much rather DNF books or rate them 1 star than read something that's just... so bland (for me) that it almost makes me forget why I love reading 😂 And I'm soo unsure about whether I should try Nevernight... I've heard such opposing opinions! Some people think it's over the top, but it's some people's absolutr favourite 🤔 I'm certainly not in a hurry to get to it 😂

Oh I totally agree about Aang & Katara... I did kind of like that they reversed the cliché romance trope with them; because this is an example of height difference where the female is actually taller, so I find that very interesting - but there is just no way I can ship them! Katara feels like his mother to me, and at the same time you have the Katara / Zuko relationship, which is SO amazing! If I'd had Tumblr back when I first watched it, I would've been *obsessed* 😂 did you ship these two? 😊

Ohh I think I'll start the Lady Trent series after I finish Temeraire & I need some more adorable dragons 😂 Congrats on reading such amazing books (like, not a single book you didn't enjoy? wow! i'm so glad for you!) I really can't pick a fabourite for 2019, but I think Empire of Ivory (4th Temeraire book) is definitely a contender 🤔😄

Ok I promise I'm not making this up (we must just move in the same... literary circles? 😂😂) but I also really want to get to the Poppy War! Again, someone I follow on Instagram because we both love the Foxhole Court recommends this book every chance she gets :) And it's getting creepy now, because I'm really interested in languages too? Especially the historical side of linguistics intrigues me (for example how languages came to be, developed and differentiated - oh, I could talk about that for hours! 😅), so I'll definitely check out the book about invented languages!

(Sorry if I end up spamming you with comments, but I'll be watching this is in several sittings, and I have lots of thoughts - too many for just one comment, I suppose😅) Shadow & Bone is already on my TBR, and I'll be glad to pick it up for the first time whenever I'm in the mood for a good old fantasy series xD I feel like I read SoC when I was still a little too ... maybe not too young, but I just wasn't in the mood for it - but it has been recommended so many times for fans of my favourite series of all time (The Foxhole Court), and I really feel like rereading it soon! Ohhh I'm so excited to get to the Truthwitch books! I'm almost holding off because I'm scared that my expectations might be too high and I don't want to be disappointed 😂 kind of silly, I know xD Oh my god, I just ordered The Gilded Wolves?? I can't believe how similar our reading tastes seem to be! I ordered it before I watched this video, but now I'm happy to hear you endorse this book too xD The Book Leo (also here on RUclips) really made it sound fabulous, if you want to check out her favourites of 2019 video; she does an excellent review for it in that video!

The whole Sianat pair plotline made me a bit uncomfortable. At first I didn't really like Ohan, because he gave me "conceited, super-religious, looks down on other people"-vibes. Then I figured maybe I was just supposed to accept The Whisperer as a cultural thing, and went with it. Until we found that planet where all the Sianat Solitaries lived - and then I really had no idea anymore what to think. I agree what Corbin did was wrong, but I'm still conflicted about the virus of the Whisperer; because it is, after all, just killing all these Sianat hosts one after another... or is the intelligence they gain from it really worth it? Arrrgh I just don't know. 😂

You said you enjoyed all Austen's novels (except for Emma, which, by the way - AGREED I love all her other books but I absolutely hate Emma, the character as well as the book 😅) but what do you think of Mansfield Park specifically? I really love it, although there really isn't much romance in it at all (as I had expected)

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed (at least the first three books) the Lady Trent series - after I loved Temeraire so much, I looked up some other dragon books and (naturally) I fell in love with the covers. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't enjoy it as much; I think I'll have to try to go into it with no expectations whatsoever :)

I didn't even know the right term "Historical Urban fantasy", but now I'll know how to describe one of my favourite genres! Oh and, do you like Agatha Christie? Because she writes some amazing (murder) mysteries; my favourite is probably And then there were none, and A murder is amnounced :) (I'm sorry if these buzzwords aren't even accurate for you anymore, I'm just having a great time bingewatching some of your videos recently 😅 I had such a similar taste concerning Temeraire with you, that I figured maybe I'd like some of your other recommendations xD)

I had totally forgotten about the Levitas / Rankin situation - oh my god, I fucking hated that man! He upset me so much; and I'd like to think that the Will of later on in the series would've insisted on helping Levitas a bit more... although, like you say, it's hard to help someone in such an abusive relationship. Yes, the language thing is really impressive! It's another point that shows that dragons are very much not just dumb beasts. It's so frustrating that only the aviators know so much about the dragons! If the general public Oh and by the way; you should check out Naomi Novik's two interviews here on youtube, on the channel Fast Forward: Science Fiction (or sth like that); in fact, maybe only watch the first one ("Here there be dragons!"). The other one is veeery spoilery for Victory of Eagles 😅

Maybe that's explained later on; but I think it is said for sure at some point in the series that the dragons pick up their mother tongue through the shell, when they're still just eggs :) And I agree, I love that the relationships between Dragons & aviators is much more of a companionship, and not ownership. Oh I find Will's character so fascinating: his devotion and loyalty to his country is both his best trait and also his biggest character flaw / downfall. I fell in love with the characters so quickly, too! They might be my favourite part of the series! Everytime something unfortunate happens to them I'm almost in tears 😅😂 I loved hearing you gush about the book, it brought back so many memories of when I was reading, or should I say binging, the book myself! I'm so glad I found another person who loves this book as much as me! Have you continued on with the series so far? In my opinion, book 2 is the most depressing so far, book 3 is better, and book 4 is an absolute standout, my favourite by far! Oh my god - I have so mamy feelings to share, as I've just finished book 5. I'm definiely moving on to your spoilery discussion!

Ah this is my favorite graphic novel series! I love how one way minded the main character is when it comes to her mom , I find that really refreshing cause most characters get side tracked by a side plot or love interest
