I used to live in Troy, I personally loved it. They had a lot of cool bars/coffee shops that A lot of people don’t know about. It can get ridiculous crime wise but other than that it’s a cool spot

The capital district is a hidden gem to some New Yorkers and most people from other states. I was born in albany and lived both in Flatbush and capital region, if your young there is so much to do in the capital region yes you need a car for most things. But you can city hop From albany schenectady and Troy If you like 17th century architecture cave exploring mountain hiking cliff diving plenty of mom and pop family owned restaurants hunting fishing kayaking, almost like living in denver but smaller. The city will always be the city (New York city). There aren't many places with its energy and I traveled the world, Some people get mesmerized by it and can't see passed the Hudson. I can tell you this there aren't many places in america outside big cities better than the capital district and what it has to offer, it took me leaving to realize that Enjoy your time Just a tip try Ausible chasms, downtown Saratoga, Split rock fall, Lake George, Thacher Park
