Campbell • Supercollider, for wind ensemble
Supercollider (formerly known as Clusterflux) is a fantastic addition to any program as an opener or closer. High-energy rhythms depict a bed of thick and ever-evolving texture. The clear melodies and countermelodies (for instance in the trumpets and horns at the beginning) represent the collisions of subatomic particles. With all of these various collisions happening all at once, it may be a bit overwhelming. You need not worry. This science experiment is over in the blink of an eye.
Supercollider was premiered by the Oklahoma City University Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Matthew Mailman, on September 14, 2023.

Created in collaboration with Dr. Jonathan Helmick and the Slippery Rock University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Forerunner honors the past, present, and future of our personal, community, and human family trees. Campbell • Eclipse, for string orchestra and electronics
Просмотров 2473 года назад
Eclipse is a work that expresses my love for space. The piece is separated in two parts: Luna, and Sol. While open chords symbolize the vastness of empty space, dense chords and rhythms symbolize the intricate systems at the heart of galaxies. This is the East Coast premiere performance of Eclipse, performed by the Florida Southern College Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland, FL with director Dr. Ma...
Campbell • neveroddoreven, for wind ensemble
Просмотров 953 года назад
neveroddoreven is the combination of the golden ratio, polyrhythmic relationships, and octatonic scales. If that isn’t enough, listen to it with a conductor and you feel one tempo. Listen to it without a conductor, and you feel another tempo. Oh, and it’s exactly the same forward and backward. neveroddoreven was premiered by the Oklahoma City University Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Matthew Ma...
Campbell • Endling, for voice(s) and symphony orchestra
Просмотров 553 года назад
In a duration of ten minutes, the antithetical Endling grows with the intent of loss. It builds up with the intent of being torn down. It comes to life with the intent to describe death. This journey features an unspecified creature in becoming the last of their kind due to a ravaging wildfire. With the weight of being the Endling, this creature has a choice - submit to extinction, or struggle ...

Campbell • The Shadow Box, Vol. 1 and 2 • Drumline Cadences
Просмотров 1293 года назад
When I started the first cadence (titled Beyond), I didn’t know that this single idea would branch out into writing an anthology of cadences. Well, if you put me in the middle of a pandemic without anywhere to go, this happens. But it’s so much more than just #quarantinecontent. It’s a return to what started my interest as a composer. Marching percussion not only a home for my musical ideas, bu...
Campbell • Into the Void: A Study in Disembodied Consciousness • for wind ensemble

Loosely depicting the composer's take on an out-of-body experience, this advanced work fully exploits the many colors a wind ensemble can produce and takes listeners on an incredible journey "into the void." The band version of INTO the VOID was premiered by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Wind Symphony, directed by Dr. Albert Lo, on April 4, 2016 with the composer conducting. The Cho...

Hey can you send me this track ? It has been removed from the website , if you can send it that would be great thanks
Hey mat I was in the group that played the world premiere of your song incognito with your friend Dr.Davis! It was an amazing song in all ways I love the sound and it was just a fun piece to play and I can’t not thank you enough for letting us even do that because you did not have to do that that came out of the kindness of your heart! The music you compose sounds amazing 😄 and I hope I’m able to play another world premiere for you one day! Keep up the great work👍! I am also looking into composing sheet music and I would like to possibly talk with you one day. And again Thank you!😄
Thanks so much for your comment! Happy you enjoyed playing "Incognito" with Dr. Davis! I loved your performance so much!
💯💯💯
It was an honor to premiere this work!
Thank you so much for premiering Moonshot, Dr. Mailman!
This sounds really great!
This is a REALLY cool piece. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for listening, Ashleigh!
Nice job! I like it a lot!
Thank you for listening, Drew! :)
Awesome job! Using your help, I also made a Logic Pro short film too, which I posted on RUclips. Check them out!
5:25 double beat 9000?
Inspired by Double Beat 9000 for sure!
The part around measure 60ish was seriously overwhelming. Very Very Very nice! Goosebump city!
Have you ever made a video about your creative process? I can't remember if I've watched one, but I would love to learn more about where your ideas for these themes and this piece as a whole (in addition to the entire game soundtrack) came from and how you developed them into what they are right here. I love this by the way!
Thanks so much for your comment, Drew! I've really been wanting to make a series about the Ari's Journey soundtrack. I'm thinking of recording it sometime within the next few months and then I'll start editing it for release in January! If you have any questions, feel free to ask away here in the comments or on a DM!
Yo. The beats are dope, but I also wanna shout out your house style. Super classy and clean. Love it <3
I really appreciate that! Thanks, Ornith Music!
If I still ran a drumline I would have been all over these beats.
Thanks, Drew! Maybe in the future!
@@MatCampbellMusic I don't know that I'll ever run a drumline again, but I will definitely share this with some of my friends who do. :)
This is great Mat!
Thanks, Drew!
I’m pretty sure I played on this one.
I’m pretty sure I did too at one point.
Awesome! What a talented composer!
Thank you, Dr. Mailman!
Love it, man!
Thank you, Brandon!
Nice! I will have my audio students check this out.
Why isn't your name in music history text books yet. We need to change that!
You’re hilarious as always, Isaiah!
This grooves really well on its own, but it would be sweet to see/hear you drumming along with it sometime.
Thanks, Drew! I’ll see what I can do about that 👀
Love it!
Thanks, Carlos!
It feels like it’s been ages since I heard new music for concert band that was actually played by live musicians. Thanks for sharing this. I really dig it and hope that I can hear a band play it in person some day.
Thank you, Drew! I wish I had posted it right when it was premiered in February 2020, but alas, it’s not like it would have mattered. 😅
I love the motion of the first cello line. Really great work. Enjoy your time away from RUclips and ig. :)
Thanks, Drew!
Those patches sound so good!!
You had some influence in getting them!
Marvelous work my friend, keep up the great work!
This is really nice! The right amount of chill I need right now. 😊
Thanks, Drew! Sometimes all we need is fresh air.
Wicked! Really nice piece Mat!
Thank you, Drew!
What a fascinating and incredibly unique arrangement! Love the energy and intensity!
Thank you, Marcus! What a difference from our last arrangement of it!
Can you send me this track?
I won’t send the track because I believe in supporting those who make music. You can buy the track as a set of Black Suit Music Vol. 1 here: blacksuitmusic.com/products/black-suit-music-vol-1 Good luck!
Mat, this is awesome!!!
Thank you, Marcus!
As soon as I learned about the Bitklavier I was in love, but my computer couldn't handle it at the time. It was the first thing I downloaded once I got a new computer. I've toyed around with it a lot but never put it into practice, and NEVER thought about pairing it with a piano. Really cool piece!
Thanks, Drew! In my experience, it works better on an iPad. Just for future reference. I’m really glad you like it! Thank you for watching.
Nice!!
Thank you!!
I loooooooove the unexpected chordal movement that happens at 137!! The whole thing is great but that moment was stellar!!
Thanks, Drew! I specifically wanted to make that moment unpredictable! I’m really glad you appreciated it.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great interview Matthew! - Paul from Jazz Band
Thank you, Paul!
Awesome!!
I really dig this piece! I want to hear it live from right in the middle of the circle.
I’m hoping to record the piece in 7.1 surround sound someday. It would be *super* fun.
@@MatCampbellMusic I look forward to it!
I wrote a piece for 6 synthesizers that I always worry will never get played because I don’t know when I’ll ever get 6 pianists together or 6 synths. Maybe we could toss this piece and my piece on a concert sometime! (Though they’re drastically different in tone)
This is a brilliant idea! Let’s make this happen!
@@MatCampbellMusic I'm down!
Nice playing! What is the side snare ?
Thanks for your comment! The side snare is a Mapex piccolo snare. More info here: mapexdrums.com/us/products/drums/snares/mpx/mpst4351/
@@MatCampbellMusic Cool! I also make covers if you like come check em out :)
This makes me wish I had followed through with my superhero podcast idea, because this would be the perfect intro/outro music. Nice work Mat!
Thank you, Drew Morris! Whenever you want to use any of my stuff, let me know.
Since this is just an idea is it free to steal?
Ashleigh Holmes, I mean if you want it to sound like my music. Go for it!
Mat Campbell What’s that saying? Imitation is the highest form of flattery?
Really nice! I especially dig the slippery-chromatic section from 29ish-37ish!
Thanks, Drew! It's actually a quote from another piece of mine titled Into the Void: a Study in Disembodied Consciousness. The correlation between the two signifies being inspired by those that came before us. (This material from Into the Void comes right before a musical depiction of Heaven.) Thanks for listening!
Beautiful piece!
I think I like your improvised chords more than the original. They sounded very appropriate for 2020.
Drew Morris, lots of rocking back and forth between stable and not. No matter what, things end up being okay!
This is so cool!
I was having flashbacks to sight readings of my pieces and premieres that didn't go so well. 😬 Some of the most uncomfortable times I've ever had. Also, I keep meaning to look into canva. Thanks for the quick showcase of that as well! I really dug the whole August series! Thanks for doing it! (What's next?!)
Drew Morris, thanks for your comment! I think I’m going to chill a bit and make more stuff like my Frame of Reference video from July. I have a schedule set up for non-series months that will include vlogs and current WiPs!
Mat Campbell Sounds good!
Did you transfer it from logic into finale with an xml file, some other means, or plug in note by note?
I did it note by note. XML / MIDI is unreliable and unpredictable for me.
@@MatCampbellMusic Ok. I was just curious. I've taken from xml from time to time and it saved me a lot of time, but midi is typically no quicker than inputting note by note.
You need to post your music on tiktok!
I didn't know about the spitfire survey promo. Thanks for that! I was thinking about looking into those BBC samples, and now I have no excuse not to!
Thanks for the tour! I am always curious about the setup other composers use! (And I really dug all your music that you used throughout!)
Thanks for watching and listening, Drew Morris Music!
