Eventually when you go into the mines with Sparky, once Hiro repairs him (you need to go into the mines ASAP to encounter him so it's best you obtain the pickaxe from the blacksmith ASAP as well,) you'll trigger a cutscene where you will get the ability to do Hangouts with all of the NPC's you've met and have on your phone's Squirrel app. One last thing, the devs have since updated the demo do that upon sleeping each night now, it saves all your progress from that day so no more lost progress.
