Blue Whale lunge feeding #gentlegiant
The Blue Whale first appeared on earth well after the extinction of the dinosaurs, but well before the appearance of the first humans.
This magnificent mammal has broken all the records when it comes to size.
The largest known creature to ever exist, the Blue Whale surpasses all land and sea creatures that came before it or exist to this day.
Graceful and gentle, this non predatory animal has been decimated throughout the early 1900's.
The International Whaling Commission banned all blue whale hunting in 1966 and in 2018 the International Union for Conservation of Nature listed the blue whale as Endangered, but It continues to face numerous man-made threats such as ship strikes, pollution, oc...

The Majestic Giant Manta: A breathtaking sight
Просмотров 3052 месяца назад
One of the most majestic creatures in the ocean. The #Giant Oceanic Manta Ray. Although the largest species of her kind, she is graceful and agile, social and intelligent. Larger than the #Reef Manta Ray, who, until 2009 was thought to be the same species, she is circumglobal, spending most of her time right around the equator far from land. They are both known to intermingle in areas such as t...
Nature's Illuminating Survival Tactics

Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by living organisms. In some species it is produced by symbiotic bacteria and in others it is autogenically produced by the animals themselves. Bioluminescence in fish began at least by the cretaceous period, about 145 million years ago. More than 75% of all creatures in the open ocean or pelagic zone have been found to produce bioluminesc...

There are thousands of species of worms in the worlds oceans. Some tiny, some more than eight feet long. Some of them feed on plankton and some are veracious predators. There are worms that swim gracefully in the water column and worms that scour the ocean floor for detritus, or ocean debris. Some are beautiful, like the Gossamer Worm, some quite weird, like the Acorn Worm and some down right s...

Have you heard of the Pistol Shrimp? Also known as the snapping Shrimp, this tiny creature may be small, but it possesses an incredible power! The Pistol Shrimps’ “Pistol” is a specialized claw. When the shrimp snaps it’s claw shut, it creates a cavitation bubble, releasing a jet of water at an astonishing speed. When this vapour bubble implodes, it produces one of the loudest noises in the Ani...

Biggest mouth on the planet...well, literally anyway.

Amazing creature! Thanks for the comment. 🙏

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed, and you're most welcome. 👍🙂
One day A.I.’s will learn their language and help us communicate with them.
That would be amazing wouldn't it? Thanks for the comment. 👍
@@TheWoWfactor44 Project CETI is underway, its a start. sperm whales I believe. would be fasicnating to learn how they share information and tell each other about hunting grounds, where they've been, how they find each other, etc. Pierre Robert de la Tour (Orca Whisperer) who has been studying orca in norway says much of their language is 'body language' but that's a much smaller being than the majestic blue whales of course. somewhat limited body language, lol.
@@MangySquirrel wow. That’s interesting. I’ll have to look this up. Thanks so much for sharing. 👍🙂 I’m currently working on a video on Shark species. Drop in next week and see what you think. Take care.
No wonder Geppetto was swallowed
Well, Monstro was blue...but he had teeth. 🐳
Circumglobal is my new word of the day! At first I found the word bumfuzzling and needed to latibulate for a bit, if not absquatulate entirely. But I didn't so, that is all, gotta go test a mirror !
Now there's no need to latibulate, unless that's where the mirror is, and I'm glad you didn't absquatulate, cause I appreciate your presence. Careful with that mirror. 😅👍🙏
@TheWoWfactor44 Bumfuzzle...nothing? Really? BUM...FUZZLE? BUM... BUM... BUMFUZZLE! ......bumfuzzle...
@@bradjoy Isn't that what you're using the mirror for??? 😅😂😅
@TheWoWfactor44 yeah okay, valid point. 😁😁
They look like they are having fun! I wonder if one would take me for a ride around the ocean...
It does look like a blast, doesn't it? They're very intelligent and social.
Manta ray heaven!!! You are following in David Attenborough footsteps….. 🤣🤣🤣
Mighty big shoes to fill! Appreciate the thought though. Thanks for watching Rob. 👍🙏

Yes, it's something to see. Especially when it looks like a hot air balloon😄 Thanks for watching. 👍
Great stuff I love it Thank you for your good work
You're most welcome. Glad you enjoyed.
Great compilation, beautiful photography. We live on an amazing planet.
Thank you. And yes, full of amazing creatures.
Very cool video! A few things I´d like to add: While ctenophores are bioluminescent, the rainbows of color that can be seen on their beating combs are produced by iridescence. While many animals use bacteria to produce bioluminescence, some are also able to produce the chemicals (luciferin & luciferase) by themselves. An example for thar would be the sharks in the genus Etmopterus. Viperfishes are even cooler, because they use another form of bioluminescence as well: They are able to produce red bioluminescence from photophores under their eyes. You can see this organ in the footage. Since red light doesn´t travel far underwater, many deep sea species have lost the ability to see it. Viperfishes can see it and therefore have a flashlight, that´s often invisible for their prey. The bioluminescence in the "projectile vomit" is not produced by the fish but by the ostracod it´s trying to eat. It´s a defence mechanism to blind their predators.
Thank you for your well informed comment Norwyn. 👍 I’m never quite sure how much information from my research to relay as there are so many interesting facts about these amazing creatures. I didn’t know about the Ostracod. Interesting. So thanks again for taking the time to comment. 🙂
@@TheWoWfactor44 You´re welcome! If you look closely in the footage you can spot the ostracod right before it happens.
Is this why my room lights up when I shine a blue light in there?
Did you drop a bag of Photophores in your room.? 😎
Bioluminuble-bleh-bleh? Fascinating Also, very cool…I want to bioluminate…luminuble?….Bioluminesce? Good job mate👍👍👍
Bioluminesce? More like bio-lost-in-words! It's a tongue-twister for sure. Bit like counterillumination! Biothankyouescence Bradjoy.
