Doesn't Contain Marzipan - I cook some things
Великобритания
Добавлен 10 янв 2023
Lil' old bipolar me, rustling up some grub in a pokey kitchen in the Midland Lands of Englandshire.
Cooking keeps me sane through the up's, down's and whoop-de-doo's of Bipolar Disorder, but it isn't the only reason I cook. I just love it.
Casting an eye around the world to see what other people do, and finding a way of giving it a go, is one of the most wonderful things in the world.
There is a kind of alchemy involved in making a pile of varied stuff into a great dish.
I hope that you enjoy my little channel.
And, as the title says...nothing will ever contain marzipan.

thanks for sharing your cooking! :)
@@relledom you are very kind, thank you
Not bad look pretty tasty i must admit 👍
This looks VERY interesting! Wasn't familiar with harissa paste
Yes, I tend to have small jar around. Nice on chicken wings or a number of Moroccan dishes.
Not impressed with this one Mr dosent contain marzipan, my dude I'm sure it tasted nice,, but,, i tell you what might be cool cook me a basic curry and rice & a basic naan, Challenge offered and in return i will make a soup (which I have never made) of your choice. 😋😁👍🍻✨
@@sargentfurytoes6309that’s fine, not everyone likes everything. Curries? My wife is Indian, so most of my curries have little in common with what most white people eat in this country. Haven’t done one for a while though, so maybe sooner rather than later. No naan. Her family are from a roti area, not naan.
@@sargentfurytoes6309not quite sure why I am replying using my personal account. Doh. Take a look back through my history. There is a properly ‘how mum used to make it’ Saag Paneer
Oh OK i, ll have a look 👍@@doesntcontainmarzipan_cooking
Interesting!
Very nice cool 👍😋
Looks delicious - interesting take on a classic soup
I’ll have to find a Polish shop in my city for the extra bits. But yes, it was bloomin’ gorgeous
A cool channel with very interesting recipes!
Thank you so much
Duck confit is that duck with feet? Horrible joke using the Spanish version on con (meaning with). Regardless of my ability to find humor in nearly anything I am delighted by your channel. Can’t get enough cooking and love to support a relatively new channel. Cheers and good luck with the channel mate!
Thank you… and yes it was very funny
Okay right now I know i have an advantage because I work in a kitchen,, soo first mistake a lot of amateur cooks make is the pan is not hot enough so when you put say the meat in you want to hear it sizzle straight away, second mistake in my opinion far to many chicken stock cubes 2 would have been enough, remember thay contain a lot of salt, loved the ending the food on the table very cool, but overall 👍 and concrats on 130 subscribers my dude
@@sargentfurytoes6309 can’t argue with your points. The pan is often lower than I’d like due to the odd angle that my tripod has to be to fit into my kitchen and not get in my way. Or get covered in spitting oil. The stock cubes? Again yes. I often add no salt at all now. The answer is to make my own stock but I struggle for room to store it.
@@doesntcontainmarzipan_cookinghmmm i understand i have a good size freezer so storage of stock is not a problem and making your own is better as long as you know how to make it, but yeah cool dish to tackle ive pondered over doing it myself but it's a lot of work and expensive to do it properly,, but good stuff very nice 👍
@@sargentfurytoes6309 one day I will do the full on 4/5 day special. But no rush. This one was not a million miles away from traditional versions. I’d use a better sausage, and duck confit next time.
There you go, that didn't hurt did it, and looks like some of my gang members have subscribed to your channel,, see the Sargent brings good things 🤪👍
@@sargentfurytoes6309 thank you, good sir. If I may return with some feedback on your work? Any chance of some 10 minute versions? Hahahaha
@doesntcontainmarzipan_cooking no lol it's part entertainment and cooking so no 10 minutes here sir 🤪👍anyway i was going to be doing a video or videos tonight but I forgot to get the bloody shallots so hold on to your bum cheaks it's gunna be a Friday night special 😁🙃🍻👍
Thanks for the video! I will try this!!
slightly strange channel, says me with my slightly strange channel, but i do wish you could take more time with finnished dish i.e place it on the work top and do a close up so we can probably see the Finnished dish 👍
"strange" how, exactly?
@@doesntcontainmarzipan_cookingbecause you go through all this effort to make the dish and at the end of the video we carnt really see it so instead of just sloping it in a bowl that your holding in your hand,, why don't you place it onto your work top and do a close up of the dish so your audience can see the finnished result 👍 just like I do on my amazing channel 😁
@@sargentfurytoes6309 ok. I used to do that. It was sacrificed in the name of keeping my vids to a decent length. Most people lose interest well before the 10 minute mark, so I do try to stay around 10 mins. I guess that it wont hurt to add something in for 10 seconds.
Note on the video. I ran out of my usual Vegan Worcestershire sauce made by Biona. You will see in the video that I used the standard Lea & Perrins sauce, which IS NOT vegetarian/vegan. I am not Vegetarian, so it isnt an issue for me....but if you are then be aware of this when you cook it at home. The Biona version is available on Amazon if you can't find it in your local shops.
quite lovely
sauce. Looks lush dude 👍
@@sargentfurytoes6309 yep… there aren’t many meals that I cook again, as I love doing new things, but this is an exception.
Need a quick easy supper. Not sure what it will taste like. Thinking along with you that all those ingredients combined might clash. I’m going to give it a try. Thank you for sharing
Oh it really does work. If anything it is very subtle. When I do it next I’ll double up on the Asian ingredients.
that sounds nasty
@@marionroark8237 absolutely terrible… I had to have two bowls to make sure
Heres a thought now take this same recipe and add chicken broth and chi cken ❤
@@alexmcaruthur6966 ok. But wouldn’t that be a bit crowded? I could remove the fish and prawns and make it a simple chicken soup? But then, that’s a whole other recipe
Rất là tuyệt vời ❤❤❤❤❤
@@tranxuantv7924 Càm ón ( I think that is how you say it)
Keep up the good work
looks really yummy, will have to try, looking forward to your next vegan recipes, especially your air-fried tofu 😊
@@SuperTilly01 thank you for your lovely comment. I’ll always put the word “Vegan” as one of the first words in the title of my Vegan recipes for those who want to avoid my Meat or Vegetarian dishes.
Looks so yum! Will need to make this. I will probably saute the sweet potato with the onions for 2-3 minutes then add the sauce, water and continue. Amazing idea to include air fried tofu wasnt expecting that. I'd leave it on the side and add on top the bowl so that it stays crispy :)
@@yashaddaganti7266 thank you for your feedback. How long to cook the sweet potatoes before adding the rest is a purely personal choice. As a heads up though, the later you put the coconut milk in, the more coconut-y it is. I agree about the tofu. It was good this way, but I will probably do it the way you say next time
Looking yummy food
@@FilAmRecipes-mj5qo thank you, that is very kind

Splendid stuff!
Love your way of cooking, you made me laugh with your zany sound effects and remarks ( In a very good way). You are just like my baby sister aged 67 years young, also bi- polar, very much prevailing in our family , she has always made me laugh. I am 75 , married and looking forward to using fresh veg from my dear husbands garden to make this soup. A refreshing by a refreshingly natural chief. Wishing you a wonderful week and good health🐨🐨🇦🇺☕️🍰
Awwwww… what a lovely message. Thank you. I really appreciate it.
What’s going on with the measuring cups, why not Metric?
It is an excellent question. I tend to prefer real weights and measures but, increasingly, a lot of online guides have turned to the “cup” as a device. As the cups are cheap to buy, I’ve given in for some recipes.
Thank you, so much!
Great video! It looked lovely, keep em coming <3

Are we allowed to post spices to the Falklands?
SO COLORFUL AND LOOKS SO DELICIOUS..
It was! Thank you!!
Ah! That makes sense, thanks for the wise words. It is indeed early days, and am still experimenting with ways of doing things. I’m going to try a 2 minute edit of my next few videos to see if that works for some people.
If a big RUclipsr gets lots of views on a video many of those viewers will already be subscribed or know the person who’s video they’re watching. However, when a channel hasn’t yet reached a bigger audience or amassed a following most of the viewers will be new to the channel and so won’t know whether it’s something they’d perhaps like to watch or not. It won’t be the case that your regular viewers find that your videos are too long but just that many new people have perhaps clicked on a single video and decided that it wasn’t for them which inevitably brings the average viewer duration down. Hope this clears it up a little bit and keep up the hard work! 😁
I AM LISTENING TO ALL YOUR INSTRUCTIONS MATE! BUT MY EVIL MIND WANTS THAT CHOPPING BOARD..
Hahaha… it is gorgeous isn’t it. Nice bit of teak. Known as a ‘butchers block’ ,
THIS IS BRILLIANT! LOOK SO DELICIOUS AND I LOVE YOUR CHOPPING BOARD AS WELL..
i'm sorry for how your childhood went. i remember you telling me once about it. i hope that one day you can reach the point to understand that it was not the religion, but your parents and perhaps they used it for an excuse. but the things that were done and the discipline used is not normal nor condoned. perhaps there were ones who knew what was going on and didn't help or stop it. unfortunately, even the people who run things are impefect too and things slip thru. knowing that 3 of 4 kids left can show you that the parents were at least a part of the problem. maybe one day, you might find it in your heart to give things a relook with fresh, adult eyes, knowing that's just not how things are done and changes have been made in many way and mental health is heavily covered as its come to light how serious it is. bipolar sruggler here too, married to a schizophrenic with a son with multiple issues. mental illness is so much fun.
Please see the piece that I wrote a while back in the Description

Yummy. My family loves Peruvian food.😊
How Peruvian is it, may I ask? I am always trawling the web for interesting recipes from around the world, but am very cognizant of the fact that someone saying that it is from a country doesn't mean that it has an actual origin there. Thanks for your message though. I have many other recipes for you to take a look at.

from where did you learn your culinary skills? seems like you are heavilly south east asian inspired. does that come from your wife and her family? or is it just that popular in the UK? did your mom teach you?
I am a bit of a knowledge sponge. I've travelled a lot, and have a large library of books to gather inspiration and get the juices flowing. The skills? Just taught myself by trial and error. There are still many things that I am not very good at. South East Asian food will always figure heavily in my cooking, because that is what we English eat by the bucketload. And having a wonderful wife who knows what these things should taste like, helps a lot. There will be many more dishes from other parts of the world though. I get bored too easily, and there is much to explore.
