Before this channel, I had never melted metal. On this channel, we will melt all types of metal into ingots, coins and sand casts. Welcome back yall! Trying out my first nighttime melt today. Seeing all the different colors from the furnace at night was really cool. Sorry, my camera did not like it very much. Melting a bucket of copper today. Testing out my new cast iron ingot mold. No scales yet, so I can't give an exact weight. Probably close to 5 pounds.

Great job I've had a little forge for some time aluminum is always hard to get out of your molds if you let them cool just a little bit longer they get a little easier. But we love to hear the sizzle

So what did it cost in propane to get 2dollars worth of aluminium?? And what were the almost 3pounds of cans worth to begin with ?? Where im at clean aluminium and cans are getting on average fifty cents a pound on a good day maybe 52

Does it make enough money to do this as a income?
No, not at all. lol. Plenty of people make a living recycling metals like copper and aluminum, but there is no need to melt those down. As for the RUclips channel, I am not earning yet. Maybe one day it could produce enough to rely on, but I am not planning on that. This channel is just to share my experiences with a hobby that I enjoy. Thanks for watching!!

Those heat sinks are worth more unmelted. You should leave them as they are rather than combining with unknown alloys.

Wow, you have so many different bars of metal melted. May I ask what you are going to do with all of them? :D I just bought myself the same melting furnace and a vacuum pump kit, so I can plaster cast things via 3D printing and also to make bar and round stock for my mill and lathe. Old car suspension parts like alu swing arms are an amazing source, if you ask your local car repair shop nicely you will probably get tons of old cast aluminum parts, they just scrap them.
I am going to keep them all and see how much I can stack up. I will have to move the collection off the shelf at some point. I think I am going to build a place for the stack in the basement somewhere. Very good tip. I do know a couple of guys that work on cars. Thank you so much for watching!!

Thank you very much. Crazy that these videos reach people across the world. Very cool. I am not super familiar with the terminology of these motors, but I looked up the commutator and it seems to be attached to the armature on these. It would have melted with the copper wire. Thanks for watching!!!

how you make sure all cans not contain water or moinsture or it cause explosion?
Yes, it can. If water is in the can and you push it down in the molten metal, it could cause a steam explosion. Make sure there is space for steam to escape when you put the cans in, and let them sit on top of the molten metal for a few seconds. The moisture will burn off pretty quickly, and then you can push them down.

What and where do I buy the coating to cover the insulation? Good video!
You need a refractory cement coating. There are many different brands to choose from but all should do about the same thing. Main goal is to keep the ceramic fibers in the furnace when it is running. Preheat is number one safety. I work at a steel mill. And I know how it looks like when water/snow get in contact with a bucket of around 100 tonnes of steel... 😂😂

The fact that he is turning old useless things into something cool is what makes it useful. The hobby is mostly for the numismatic value and not so much about use usability. I myself have poured many copper bars, cleaned them up, and resold them for 5x more than copper melt.. You obviously spent little time into your comment that made nothing better so I take you are just trying to rile someone up. Lastly, the redundancy in that comment is insane!😂 at least you figured out how to use a comma🤦

Thank you for watching. I am REALLY enjoying it. I learn something new every time I melt. My best suggestion is to do your research. Watch a ton of other people melt and learn what NOT to do from our mistakes. Molten metal is extremely dangerous. Always wear protective gear and be mindful of your surroundings. Yes, you are right. I was in a hurry and did not follow the mixing instructions from the package. It dried ok, but probably a thinner layer than it should have been.
Good job. I use graphite molds for copper and brass. You can also use graphite powder in your cast molds
