Morbid visions is a black metal style album because the band said many lyrics were fashioned after those of early extreme metal bands such as Venom and Celtic Frost, while the other albums schizophrenia beneath the remains and arise are thrash metal/death metal style albums but chaos A.D. on the other hand is a we’re they change the style to groove metal with elements of some thrash metal also elements of industrial hardcore punk and tribal stuff which the tribal stuff would be experimented on the next album roots which is a nu metal influenced album since the band went for a nu metal style because max cavalera was a fan of the band Korn’s first album and liked the sound of down tuned nu metal style.

I know this video is old, but I have to say this is the best video about Machina I’ve ever seen. In a perfect world, Machina should have been done post Mellon Collie and it would have been received completely differently. For me, it’s the second best album in their discography. I have the date it came out tattooed because it was so important in my history. Thank you for giving it the justice it’s due.

This came out when I was 15 and it REALLY hit the spot. Despite being obsessed with Adore, I was a little disappointed. So coming off the Adore album and having that two year gap, I was ready. THIS was what wanted and needed in Pumpkins album. What I like to do sometimes is go through the whole entire album only listening to the first second of each song, then I play the whole thing in its entirety. It's a way pumping myself up and peaking my curiosity at the same time. Despite Billy stating that it wasn't finished, I still see this as an explosive yet introspective masterpiece.

great video! I do disagree with the ugly being better than by starlight comment. By Starlight is easily one of the best on the album, maybe one of the best the pumpkins have made, and ugly sounds like beguiled.

Finally some light shed on one of my fav albums! I was the same. This album hit when I was 15 and I had just gone through a break up. This album swept me into its world. It was beautiful.

You are right! Like Spinning Plates is one of the first versions of the song I Will but in reverse. I Will was later featured on the album Hail to the Thief with a different arrengement. And so, Thom wrote the lyrics, learned how to play them backwards, then recorded himself singing the backward lyrics and then that tape was reversed, so that's why the vocals sound so eerie and strange. Kinda what George Harrison did with I'm Only Sleeping.

It was Easter 06', I was at my aunt house. I was shy around my family so I usually have 1 headphone in my ear. So, my cousin ask what I was listening to. I said, "oh,smashing pumpkins perfect. ' he said "wow I love the pumpkins " I was happy, so towards the end of the night my cousin ask me into his room. When I got up I see this Box with black white circles. I asked what it was. He told me " The Aeroplane files high box set" with 4 cds they are the melon collie si gles 1979,tonight tonight, Zero, and bullet with butterflie wings. I am giving to you. I was SOOOO HAPPY. On the way home I listen to 1979 single and when Ugly came up I simply was amazed.

"Heavy Metal Machine", illustrates my point the best --it is a meandering, loud, unpleasant slabb of sound that goes on until it stops, accomplishing nothing and going nowhere. Secondly, the album contains an appalling amount of filler for a 15 track collection. I have an easier time listening through 'Mellon Collie's' 30-some tracks than not skipping over such fluff as "The Imploding Voice", "Glass and the Ghost Children", "The Crying Tree of Mercury", and "Blue Skies Bring Tears". Not only are they uninspired and tepid musically, but the lyrics to all of the above mentioned except 'Voice' are atrocious and could've been done better by an eighth-grader. Check this: "unleash the armageddon/so all the children go to heaven/i sit by quiet still/with their pictures on my eyes/you'll draw the guns you're given/write down the words as written/and never disturb the presense/of resurrection crutch". Huh?
