We tested both today and they are done. My idle current when key is removed is 0.07 Amps or 70 mA, which is well within in spec. On the Battery we think that one cell is going bad.

How to check the front seal of A/C compressor with your thumb in lieu of cover plate for manifold and do a full pressure test with R-134a Fixed the NOS vacuum actuator for the defrost flaps. The unit was 10 years old when I got it of eBay as NOS and installed it 2 or 3 years ago.

      Tell me what your coolant temperature was when you tested it. Without knowing the temperature I can not tell you what your problem is

      @@sas8403 at 80C the ECU will switch to Duty Cycle mode - below 80C it’s just enriching depending on Throttle position switch, TD Signal and Speed from Speedometer. All this is explained in service manual 07.3-xxx

    Great video!! First suggestion - when I pull out the ABS sensor from the wheel hub, I have an air gun with a long nozzle on it connected to shop air that I shove into the sensor hole and use the air to clean the slots on the back of the wheel as I slowly rotate the wheel. Second, use the air gun with a long nozzle to blow out the leaves and detritus that collects under the brake booster, right on top of the 0.3 ohm Auxiliary Fan Pre-Resistor. That resistor gets HOT and having dried leaves on top of it is not good.

    89 560sel Idle control relay in cabin beneath glovebox screeches like bad bearings on a drill. This occurs before and after car starts. Car idles within parameters. What does this indicate? The car drives for miles relatively well sometimes, occasionally stops screeching for miles then starts again.

      You sure it is the idle speed controller? There was is no mechanical or electrical mechanical parts in those. What is your idle rpm when in P or N?

      They are temperature compensated and will regulate to 14.1V in summer

    Hello again Sir. I have seen the video about changing the oil in these V8 engines. The person on the video recommends to unplug the ignition module and crank the engine until it gets oil presssure to save the chain quides from being damaged by a chain hit.     Hi, thank you so much for the valuable information. Would that cause higher consumption in fuel please. I have E260 1991 and it consumes too much fuel. Also, the rev is in about 2000 rpm and the car is doing like 55miles per hour on top gear (4 automatic), if I want to do 70 miles per hour then the rev would be at 3200-3300 rpm. Please help and advise 😊

      That sounds about right. The top speed would be about 130 miles per hour at 6000 rpm How much gas are you using? This is straight six 2.6L

I’ve been advised to change the rear Differential as there are two models, one is slower than the other!! The issue is that in order to get to 70miles per hours, I need to get the engine RPM height which rises the fuel consumption

      @IbrahimKADDOUR-j5b yes, the US model has a different ratio and lower maximum speed, but puts more torque out. 14L / 100km is correct for this car They are not very fuel efficient. The diesel version is better. A/C will add about 1L per 100km so das automatic transmission

    The 2 main problem are loose female sleeves at the 12 pin plug [ use a male pin to test ] , that also to fuel pump relay . Also a bad actuator motor [ too low of a resistance ] will take out the module .

    Hey, on my 380sl there is a horrible smell coming from the charcoal canister, everything is on tight, and the vacuum valve holds vacuum do you have any clue what it could be? Thank you

      @@jamieplays2007 the charcoal is used up. The canister vents to the outside. If you smell rotten gasoline then that means the charcoal is used up. That’s it

    Hello Peter, I wrote a comment with detailed information about an alternator from the Polish brand AS-PL. My comment disappeared....😮 A (in words) zero three nine five is what you can look for....it has 90A. I use AS-PL for years without problems. Shipping to the USA should be no problem.       AS-PL produces replacements and sometimes improves the original design... A couple of weeks ago I changed the alternator in my daily driver, a 1998 E430, and used the AS-PL alternator. They had changed the position of the cable connections so that you are able to do the whole installation from the top of engine bay in opposite to the Mercedes original alternator where you have to work from underneath the car for cable connections...

    Very good well illustrated video! I have an 85 380SL and am having problem with intermit issue with high idle and wondering if you can assist me. After a good cleaning I bench test the ICV and seems to be working normal with the open and close when I applied 4 volts on my power supply unit. But it only shows .49 amps. After install it back on the engine and it started fine with idle normal around 750 rpm. When engine start getting hot, the rpm starts climbing to about 1400 rpm and few minutes later it went back down to normal. A few minutes later the rpm start climbing again. I tested the voltage on each cycle by disconnected the two prongs female connector when it idles at normal and it read about 4 volts. The rpm climbed when I disconnected and went back down to normal when plugged it back in. I did the same testing when it idles at 1400 rpm for few minutes. At high idle, the female connector reads 12-13 volts. Although, disconnect and reconnect the power at high idle does not effect the rpm. I repeated the testing for few times and each time it has the same affect. I assumed the high voltage put the ICV to the open position causing high idle. Should the input power to the ICV stay at around 4 volts after engine warmed up? Could this be an issue with ICM?

    When you add that dual aux fan for the car which orinilay has single fan, should you change some relays or some other parts to work it properly?

      No, not really. I checked amp draw of single fan and then two fan unit. Both were around 10 to 15 Amps. The relays I got installed are rated for 20A Fuse rating I used is the same as well. The wiring in my car from fans to resistor and relay / fuse box is 2.5 mm2 You may want to check your relays, fuse and wiring

    Hi, i really love your videos because they have contain much useful information that you cant find elsewhere! Do you by any chance have the flow values for this? (I already tried finding information on this but without luck) And maybe a recommendation for the flow measuring device? I have a M103 that i tested and (if broken) replaced everything (including every sensor, eha, resealed the fuel distributor, injectors, seals, rubbers, even the caps on the ecu, etc....) but i just cant get it to run right (High fuel consumption (over 20L/KM) and under certain loads high pitched vibration on the gas pedal). I also measured the pressures and adjusted the duty cycle. I also measured the differences in flow between each cylinder but they are pretty even (~3-4%). I even bought a wideband lambda tool but under full load a weird symptom is showing -> It starts at like Lambda ~0.92 at 2000rpm and ends up at ~0.77 at 5500rpm, so way too rich. Maybe you know a way to make that curve flatter? Maybe with these adjustment screws? Many thanks in advance from germany!

      @@Player-jz1bf I would adjust the mixture to 0.5 to 1 % CO on exhaust rather than the duty cycle. CO is adjusted at idle rpm then let it idle for about 30 seconds then rev up to 3000 rpm and watch CO - should fall below CO at idle. Then rev down to idle and let idle for a minute or two. CO should go back to the previous idle CO. Repeat this a few times until CO returns to same idle CO You may have to tweak the mixture adjust a little bit during this process

      Garry, the crankshaft has two turns for one turn on camshaft and distributor You need to take off both camshaft covers and align camshaft tdc marks with crankshaft tdc mark. Only then can you adjust distributor

      Is that WHY my NOX was high? Wow, I have to remove BOTH vales covers again to see camshaft DTC? CAR DIVES ok, but a bit weak and unstable RPM

      @@glim888 there is probably a lot more wrong You need to get the MB service manuals and do the entire diagnostics in group 07.3 This is beyond the comment section or by phone to guide you through this

      I'd replace those chain guides and valves cover gaskets, and make sure TDC on both camshafts were inline .....then instead distributor cap.....I thought rotor was pointing close to cycliner#1....not too sure. In that case , could I pull out the distributor assembly and reinstall rotor to point at #1 cylinder?

    Sir, I am trying to reset my timing for TDC. Confuse about these markings.... Which marking do I use to set my TDC....ZERO or the rod that sticking out about 5mm? This is on my 89' 420sel original parts. Thx in advance... Gary

      Yes, I was going to do timing adjustments for the distributor cap and DTC inline...and saw that additional pin that sticking out near those numders...numbers.... What's that pin for?
