Joliet West Marching Tigers - Pontiac 2009
Challenging parts, fresh out of band camp. Not bad for an early season warm-up.
This is one of the selections that the Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kansas) Symphonic Band played back in 1979.
We are actually playing that exact same peice for our middle school concert. It sounds nice. :)
Sections as wholes could do better to play together some parts sound like multiple instruments but overall very good.
Omg I remember this!!! It was fun that day !!!
I love this conductor, he reminds me of Steamboat Willie.
I have to do this my school band
3 beats in 1.... what happened at 73?
It is too awfully slow.
Lmao y'all need to stop bragging. Our 8th grade advanced band is one of the top 5 public school bands in the state. We played this in 7th grade at the beginning of the year. At MPA we will be playing two grade 4 music pieces. So yeah.. SIT YOUR ASS DOWN PUNK
Trombone part of duet with trumpet at 1:56 left out; hard to keep up unless using alternate positions, which is not common with students. A great exercise in using alternate positions.
You guys have no sound quality!
That's because the camera is horrible lmaooo
Garbage, the Central drumline is way better I fully agree with awsomethunder16 forget west , we're the best go central.
The Joliet Central drumline would put this drumline to shame.
Hi I'm Gregory and my middle school band is playing this for our mpa proformance and I go to bhca I'm an 8th grader get rekt
It's the 5/4 time that really drew me to this piece. That, and how epic it is to play.
Joliet West's drumline is pretty bad here not sure if they have gotten better over the years but Central's drumline is better either way :) GO CENTRAL!!!!!!
I loved playing this song. SOOOOOOOO inrcredible
It might be a Joliet thing? My band, Central, does it to. /watch?v=Btyz6RxzI6M
IM a horn player and can i say Swain County High school is doing this for our fall conxcert it sounds sooo awesome
Hahaha so that's what it looks like when we're performing the field show
We played this in 9th grade band and I liked all 3 move ments
Nice, I played oboe for this my freshman year.
more trombone/baritone counter chord in 5 measures from the end
i played this for my concert it was amazing
Great performance!
Do I see a female tuba player?
im playing this at my school this year.... i hope we sound better than this.... no offence, but this is pretty bad. i want the timpani or the snare drum! :)
I loved this song when I played it.
i hade a duet in this peice ......... oboe
One of my favorite hymn tunes -- nicely done. Written in the early 19th century, band arrangement by Johnnie Vinson.
french horns=horrid
i thought at 2:08 youre supposed to slow down?
Playing this in band right now; you are supposed to slow down.
that drummer!!!!
We played this for our Honor Band concert last December. I watch this video all the time. The flutes sound so musical and harmonized. The horns are melodic and sweet. I can't wait to play it again. Wow that sounded cheesy but so true.
Just a couple notes, first, in the part where the entire band drops out and its only the rattle-thing (i can't remember name), the rattaling was uneven. Also, the band is generally uneven. Some people too quiet, others too overpowering. Lastly, at the ending measures, the 2nd and 3rd trumpets overpowered the 1st. the first have the primary notes, so they should be on top. Just some constructive critisim.
Go flutes! I'm first chair in my band.
@pingas231 I thought it wasn't bad. @BenWebster10 I think that's normal. Every concert I've been too and played in, that's the way it was set up.
You guys suck
I played this in my Middle School Symphonic band in 6th grade x]
second flute starts out so low and it is hard to play when first flute is doing something else... but that's my opinion...
LOVE the handshake. xD I wish my director would let us do that.
She playin that flute at 2:07 Alright now!!
This is horrifying if you're the only bass clarinet! XD
That was a joke
That flute solo was supposed to be an oboe solo but there was no oboe so, since both oboe and flute are 'C' instruments, they gave an oboe part to a flute player.
I remember playing this in high school - Ft. Madison Aquinas (iowa) in 1971.
I go to Eastside High....so great to see another band doing this amazing piece
lol we played this in 8th grade.. fun memories~
French Horns FTW at 7:37 and 7:58
my band is playing this. we are awful
