Let it run for 10 mins to get warm then pop oil cap off hw a engine going to have blow by just starting it up
They had a lot of trouble with the camshaft they would spin csm bushing in the block it was a right off then. 8 injector and 32 valves it lot to work may be they should have went down the road of 2 camshaft like the jimmy

well if they didn't when ram and freightliner were under Daimler... less possibilities these days
unfortunately! stallantis may would've put a fiat engine on their Ram before think about something like that... but I like to thinking some day somebody in anywhere make that swap on a RAM5500
DD8 is 6.7 Cummins B series engine is good engine swap into RAM truck 2500 ,3500, 4500, 5500,
B6.7 and DD8 are two totally different engines

What kind of mpg were you getting with this engine?
Can I get an Eaton 13 speed built to cruise at lower rpm's? Currently have 3.92 rear and 65mph is 1,500rpm in top gear. Want to go 70 at 1,500 rpm with the same rear end.
I don't know why this engine got a bad rep? I ran old equipment with the 555 .I would run with the throttle Wide open all day!

The only V8 Cummins I've heard of was a VT903. I've heard dad talk about a twin turbo 444 Cummins but I was a kid. What was the HP. And what others V8s did it compare to?

These V8 Cummins engines are complete CRAP,a couple of owner driver mates of mine bought Ford D1000s fitted with these engines,noisy gutless and terrible on fuel,whatever possessed Cummins to build and sell this shit is beyond belief considering the quality of there other engines, they were a complete nightmare and they were replaced with Perkins V8 510s which we’re not much better with constant head gasket problems and overheating. A firm I worked for went bust trying to run a small fleet of Seddon tractor units fitted with Perkins V8s they were that unreliable.

A 14613 would be to light duty, but we could supply heavier transmissions to fit a ISX.
dependence how much torque got your isx , if that has lot of torque may transmission get some play in out shaft
i advice you , rtlo147 fuller is better , get 0.73 at last gear and 14.00 at low low

Cummins hasn't made these in decades. You can still get parts for them though.

@md_randoms2429 Absolutely! Parts are very easy to find. Individual parts, overhaul kits, rebuild kits, new turbochargers, etc. The reason why is because the VT903 is still produced for the military to this very day. They've managed to get a whopping 600 horsepower out of it. Not bad for an engine from the late 1960's.

@andrewsmart2949. I think there's been a misunderstanding. My first reply to you was saying parts could still be found for VT555's. After that md_randoms asked about the VT903, I answered his question. I realize these are two completely different engines because I've been around both engines on numerous occasions in generators, farm equipment. I've never seen a 555 in a truck though. I however have seen a 903 in an old Ford L9000, and it roars. 555's are far less reliable than 903's. we don't run 555's nearly as hard as the 903's for that reason. As for present production of the Cummins 903 there's a 660 BHP variant and a recently introduced 750 BHP variant. I have found no info about a 1500 horsepower variant. Is there any specific class of tank I should know about?

I didnt know the 555 nickels got turboed, i just know they were very underpowered and unreliable. How good was this set Up, did they stop being dogs or was the turbo another thing to worry about this engines?
They were fitted with a turbo for higher altitudes and for cleaner emissions only. They weren't fitted for more power as the crank bearing journal's were very narrow and gave problems n/a without a turbo..
and they didn’t have piston oil cooling nozzles any high boost will melt the piston in the center
Hi Santo. That's why I thought. I never thought they were turboed either and just to rub it in it's got 318 written on the side, must be a stock number or something. I liked the natural V903s painted black they went well in the Ford LNT 9000s in Australia and the ACCOs.

@@yourchava 1050 ft pounds. It’s not as good on fuel as the ISB 6.7 but it’s a larger motor. As of all new motors the emissions are it’s weak point
This engine is actually a rebadge of the Mercedes OM936 and the DD5 is a rebadge of the OM934.
@@camilacaicedo628 the OM 471,472 and 473 are the Mercedes Benz name for the DD13, 15 and 16. Their Mercedes with a true Jake brake. The 60 series is still being built and parts for the 92 series are still available. I miss the 60 series

I notice that this X15 had 60 pounds of oil pressure mines only does 40 pounds thats every since its been new an im at 329441 miles now... is my pressure suppose to be higher?
Your engine is well within spec with 40 psi. It will very depending on temp, oil type and rpm range.
