Been there. A great mountain
After summiting Bonanza I hiked across a fallen log. The log had slime for a stretch and I completely had my legs fly out from under me. I had to quickly try and catch myself. However; I forgot that I had strapped my ice axe across the back of my pack without point guards and my wrist was impaled! I have a very small scar and it never got infected.
Good job !!!!
The quality of videos is phenomenal. This is the reason I haven’t moved from WA. Mt. Rainer is captivating
I've climbed it twice. First time 51 years ago. Last time I complained about music in a video was 10 years ago, however, I must in this case. It would be so much better without it, or, something less drug induced. Sorry.
love it as always!
Where do you park to start out from with your bikes?
Man i love your videos, this is about the 6th or 7th ive watched. Not super long with obnoxious narration like all those other “outdoor” peakbagging youtubers. Just solid summaries, chill vibes and focusing on the climb and music and natural sounds. Love it! New subscriber made!
Looks like an awesome weekend! Glad I wasn’t the one heading back for the camera at 2:43 😂 Any chance you have GPX routes shareable somewhere for this one?
Dude! It was so much easier when the glaciers where still all there, eh.
Wow!! Amazing views. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing. sub & 👍24
One moment, you're stabbing bear shit. Other you're puking. I have questions. I don't want the right answers, too.
Great videography! Looks like a good one 😊
Yo what song was that? Loved it on this video
Glad you liked it. It's called Homecoming by Ace
Having a back surgery procedure this November. My goal is to be able to summit rainier next June. Looking for a team to train with. Any info or reach out would be great. You guys put together a great video
I appreciate the kind words. Best of luck with your procedure; I support your goal! It will be a great motivator to not let the surgery slow you down.
Excellent video with beautiful fall colors, and nice to see that the wild North Cascades are as unpopulated as decades ago. Do you have videos yet of Dome and Bonanza Peaks?
Still beautiful and wild and there for those willing to make their own way. Haven't gotten to Dome yet, but I do have a video for Bonanza! ruclips.net/video/1LrwEUJfYVc/видео.html
I really enjoy your video series about the Olympics. Brings me back to many good climbs. My memory of down climbing those extremely loose and exposed slabs before you get into the basin was really sketchy, sounds like you guys kind of cruised it.
Thank you for your kind words. It's been so long now, that I can't recall how I felt on those slabs. Glad I could stir up old memories! I value them, and do this, to immortalize mine.
Last time I was up Dingford Creek trail (20 years ago), on a hike with my daughter who was 12 at the time, we stopped the car about five miles down the road from the trailhead on the way out, to walk down to the Middle Fork on a muddy road made by 4-wheelers. I was looking ahead through the trees and saw a bear out in the river, 50 yards ahead. I gasped "There's a bear!" but my daughter saw me looking across the road at her and assumed I was looking in the thick bushes behind her, so she thought the bear was 15 feet away. She almost had a heart attack, poor kid. The bear never heard us as the river's rapids made too much noise and it continued walking down the river, away from us.
That's a great memory, thanks for sharing! Ryan always hikes in with his extended zoom lens on his camera with hopes of sighting a bear. I'd count you lucky! Though your daughter likely would disagree 🤣
Beautiful! My friend is out there right now trying to summit, this gave me a cool view of what she’s going through. I’m a Wa. State native born and raised. East coaster for the last 7 years. You guys rock!! Thanks for the video of your adventure. ❤
You are a good friend, I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share! We lived in Maine for three years prior to moving to Washington and miss it a lot... but we are forever Washingtonians at this point.

That's awesome! There are great mountains and mountaineers all over the world! ✌️
Came for the mountains, stayed for the night timelapse
😊 That's awesome - thanks guys! Gotta give credit to Ryan, he set that one up! 📸 💪
Strong work! Big fan of the longer format showing the approach.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Some more lengthy videos are in the pipeline.
I’m no climber and have wanted to do this for years. Too much tech for someone with no formal climbing skills?
That is hard to judge... no tech required, just the boldness to continue onward and upward. I would encourage everyone to seek the mountain. You just have to be safe and smart. The best way to learn is to do it.
Congrats! Awesome trip and video.
Thanks a ton! Appreciate it more than you know!
Beautiful video! So sad to see the far side of the lake burn again but glad Holden is ok for the moment.
Very sad, we caught the opening act… I know it is now much worse than what we saw.
Liberty Ridge, go get it!
Will do! I’d like to tick off all the significant routes eventually
@@wildoutsiders You're on your way to doing them, thanks for the great memories
Did this route in 2019 with a friend as our second significant alpine climb in the Cascades (after bailing on the west ridge of Forbidden a few weeks prior due to a slow start and forgotten headlamps). This is such an incredible route with everything you want in a Cascade climb, including some low angle ice for us on Winnie’s slide after the snow had melted off later in the season. It wasn’t clear in the video how you got the summit pyramid done, but the SE rib is so worth it over the gulley if you ever go back. Love this mountain.
Congratulations! I haven’t done the SE rib but I’d like to do this route again, such a great experience all around. Next time I’ll take your word for it and do the rib.
Awesome guys, excellent video of the wild Cascades. Have you done Mount Spickard or the NE Glacier on Mount Torment? I bet you'd enjoy those too.
Not yet, I’ve been out to the Chilliwacks for Rahm and Custer will be back for Spickard - I’ll have to look into the Torment route. Thanks for watching and for the suggestions!
Mount Constance is a fun climb, did that in 1978 with some buddies and bivied on the summit for night photography. Great vantage point of Seattle and Puget Sound.
@@mec8690 that’s incredible! What a memorable experience.
Yikes that foot step into running water on rock.
That’s a feature called the “waterfall slabs” some people go to great lengths to avoid them, but walking right through is the most efficient option. The water level changes throughout the day as well due to the sun and snow melt.
Incredible video! Getting close to the 100.

Do you need to bike at the start
@@S0GGYS0CKK nope! Not required at all, just saves a little time on the way out.
Plan on climbing all the tall mountains in Washington training up to raineer
That’s a great goal! You’ve got a lot of amazing experiences ahead of you. Happy trails! ✌️❤️🏔️
Glad to see that you guys are using electric bikes!
Is there an alltrails link for this? I tried search for Big Snow and Hardscabble but nothing came up. If not alltrails, is there a GPX track?
There will be more info on my website soon, but in the meantime... www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/evening-hike-at-goldmyer-hot-springs-trail-7ac71d4?u=i&sh=rvkuig
@@wildoutsiders Thanks. Sent a request to follow you on alltrails
You stuck your finger in bear shit. Check that one off the list 👀
Hahaha! A little treat for those who make it to the end 🤣
Great video! What kind of prep work would you recommend for people looking to do this climb?
It is a slog! There’s a lot of mental endurance needed. I would say be sure to get a good amount of miles and gain under your feet so you can rely on your physical conditioning to get you to the top.
You guys do a great job of condensed trip recordings. Great editing and shots.
Thank you! I appreciate your comments!
I 2nd that motion
I was born in the Hoh. It will always be my home.
Sorry, I couldn't do the "song"
All opinions welcome! I get it haha, I wanted the feel of the video to be a little uncomfortable since that’s how we felt the whole time on those slopes.
You guys have a great channel.
@@DanNoakes Thank you! Appreciate it!
I’m making this hike this weekend, definitely going to swim lol
@@its.Will_A11en we did post summit and it was marvelous! Good luck!
I ended up getting to the lake, but turned back around halfway up the mountain as it was getting too dark. Summiting next time though :)
Another great one! Looking forward to the next one
Very good video. I wish it was longer.
Thinking of doing this solo this weekend. Any real reason to rope up? I can’t imagine there being much concern for crevasses?
Always good to rope up on a glacier. When we crossed, the crevasse danger seemed minimal. Good luck! It’s beautiful out there.
Nice, thanks for the details. Love your video style! I’m getting super inspired. Thanks for putting this out there!
Awesome video! Curious - which camera did you use to film the sunrise shots? Those scenes have some great dynamic range and really get the detail from the soft light🔥🔥
Thank you! Thank you! That was shot on my buddies Canon R6
Great shots!
Thanks Simon
Awesome awesome awesome!! Super fast turnaround on editing and posting this. Great clips, and congrats on the Rainier on Rainier.
Hey thanks a lot! I appreciate the love!
