Greetings!! QuestMet is a group of amateur weather enthusiasts wanting to impart, educate and create awareness about Meteorology. We all start as amateurs. We develop interest, we collectively enjoy sharing our vistas and in the end the passion which drove us, takes over. That is how the journey of QuestMet started.
Our aim is to take this wonderful subject of Meteorology and Geography, make it more interactive and user friendly. We offer free webinars and where we differ is our webinars and presentations are custom made. You get to decide what topic you want to hear from us on Weather and Geography.
We feel with this open forum, we would be reaching people of all ages, from kids to elders and most importantly we would be creating awareness, spreading knowledge and of course nurturing and mentoring young brains.

Thanking you sir.for sharing valuable information
Thanks a lot for the wonderful and informative video. I immancely liked it. Please make such educative, serious and visually rich videos on other mountain ranges, forests and rivers of our country at your convenience. Your commentary too is good. Its language and style of rendition are pleasing. However the high sounding guitar is quite a disturbance. To this self complete video, I don't think any 'music' is needed. Once again congratulating all the team and associates.
Give more information like this....Supra das bombay
.......Wonderful.......💛
944 Mm recorded on that day
Hi Sridhar Nice informative video.. Have u researched or studied on the impact of mono cultures in the western ghats region particularly earleaf acacia in the Karnataka region not on the top of the ghats but the lowland areas and the intermittent zones.... entire stretches of the lowland areas lowland hills r just full of this species of earleaf acacia... i happen to hail from this region and i observe the soil moisture differences, biodiversity, and temperatures differences in the areas particularly filled with earleafs.... The Karnataka government back in this 70s was actively planting and encouraging people to grow for the quality of timber etc.... now it is become such a nuisance and a biodiversity threat.... Earleaf acacia a tree native to the semi arid regions of australia has just colonized the western ghats eco region ....
Sir, Can I get permission to use it as a transilated version in tamil. My channel : one step wit kb

Weather ‘God man’ This happened very long back. A shepherd in England became very popular. You may immediately jump to the conclusion that he became popular because, he was supplying fresh meat or unadulterated milk. No! He was famous for a different reason. Then UK was ruled by a just king. No lies, no cheats. The shepherd became famous because his daily weather forecasts were always ‘correct’. More accurate than the UK Met office, the Met office which conducted many theoretical studies in Meteorology and made very robust Meteorological Instrument. Media celebrated this shepherd to the sky level, almost forgetting that it was their great Newton who sowed the seeds of Numerical Weather Prediction. Many people followed this great ‘meteorologist’, some blindly, but some people were a bit scientific. They argued that shepherd is an expert weather forecaster because he is a diligent observer since his childhood and he knows the climatology and topography of his country as he moved over the meadows and mountains with his sheep. He even knows the delicate difference between the mist and fog for he has never lost his way or his sheep in poor visibility. Some even said he knows the impending weather from the behavior of his sheep. How long this great ‘scientist’ will remain unrewarded and unnoticed by the people in power? It was not very late when the news has reached where it should be, the palace. The sensation was so fuming that king could not resist the advice of his courtiers to meet the great ‘scientist’ who is still leading sheep instead of scientists. At last that important day has dawned. Now Shepherd, the Meteorologist who never failed, is in front of the King with his typical humble manners. Impressed by the humbleness of the great ‘scientist’ who is more accurate and consistent than the UK Met office under the king, he wanted to ask one and only one question to the shepherd . “What is the secret behind the success of your weather forecast” “It is very simple your majesty, I simply issue a forecast which is just opposite what UK Met office gives daily” “But you are always correct”. Asked the king “Yes your Majesty, because my wife meets her friends only on the day my forecast is correct”. Replied the shepherd. Now I am sure, the erudite readers know the ‘art of issuing weather forecast’ without analyzing meteorological data. A trained weather forecaster makes forecasting after analyzing the scientifically collected voluminous meteorological data pertaining to a large area, for weather knows no boundary. The data include surface data, upper air data, data from radar and satellites, Numerical weather prediction guidance etc to name a few. Thousands of meteorological observers and hundreds of meteorologists are engaged in this endeavor round the clock in our country alone. When a person makes a forecast without the basis of scientifically collected met data, he can be called as weather “god man”. It is unfortunate that the media do not highlight their failures instead their ‘success’ by fluke is celebrated by adjectives, even not seen in dictionaries. Why our media continue to be like the shepherd’s wife? prakashanap@RithuRagam673104
