    My easy chair during the past 3 days I’ve confronted this pain, seems too low and even getting up from easy chair seems like the chair is too soft and too low. What too do? Also, is this sciatica?

    • @goodwinclinics
      @goodwinclinics 21 день назад

      Hi Suzy, Chairs can and are often too low and too soft. Try building up the height of the chair with folded towels under the seat cushion. Also try a firmer board under the seat cushion to find a better comfort level. The right height and firmness can muake getting out of a chair much easier too. Sciatica tends to refer to Lower back trouble with pain going down your leg. Hope that helps.

    I have a L5 compression fracture. I was told that I should get in and out of bed like this but it hurts more than to do the “reverse push-up” method. It is excruciatingly more painful. I keep getting told different things on how I should do it the way that’s more comfortable or this because I can’t be twisting my back. Honestly I don’t even care because if I’m gonna hurt the rest of my life with a bad back (I’m only 19) I’ll be getting up and down the way that doesn’t hurt.

    Just found a way to prevent back muscle spasm pain when standing up from a seated position. Simply place each palms on your laps as near as possible to your hips and press against the laps as you stand up. In this manner it somehow deactivate back muscles from firing and pulling to strongly which in turn helps reducing or even stopping pain during your healing period. Try this to see if it works for you.

    • @goodwinclinics
      @goodwinclinics Год назад

      Actually, its usually easier on a softer surface. Are you doing this correctly? (usual incorrect problem is not pivoting at the hips enough). If this is still painfull and you are doing it correctly, then I advise you stop and seek an in person consultation with a local professional. Good luck

    Instead you use your elbow, much better to use opposite arm and push to stand up. If person is overweight it's very difficult to do this way

    • @goodwinclinics
      @goodwinclinics Год назад

      Be careful when using your opposite arm as you will be twisting your spine. For overweight people this is sometimes necessary as you point out.

  • @maeve4686

    I appreciate these comments, however , if you have a soft surface to lay or sit upon, this doesn't work.

    • @goodwinclinics
      @goodwinclinics Год назад

      Hi Maeve. Usually this works even better on a soft surface like a bed. You have to keep your body a little rigid. The usual mistake is that people do not pivot forward enough and get there body forward of thier elbow. Once you do this, you should find the softness of the bed is actually easier than my firm treatment table. Have another try, and make sure you really lean forward. Hope that works better for you.

    Thank you so much! I’ve been off of work for 2 weeks now because I had an accident and injured my lower back and every single night I went to lay down and every morning I got out of bed my lower back would flare up every single time even after a full day of doing really good with stretches and feeling like I made some progress but that all goes away when it’s time to get in or out of bed. I was basically almost stuck only being able to stand or walk around I couldn’t sit at all without having muscle spasms or a disc flare up whatever I have… I started to not even want to get in and out of bed because I knew getting up and down was gonna set it off again. I literally thought I was about to go nuts because all I could do was stand to be pain free i honestly couldn’t take anymore. Watched countless RUclips videos on stretches which did help but nothing about what you show here which literally just saved my life I’m so grateful man 😢

      Hi Pat, have you tried getting up on the non injured side? If you still have to get up on the injured side, just use your "good arm" to help get you as high as you need to. Try to avoid the twisting in your back that this will cause. Some patients have also used a stick in the other arm to push up. Good luck.

    Hi is pelvic tilt safe to do for people with osteoporosis in the spine why I ask is because people with osteoporosis is not supposed to do flexion in the spine but when we're doing the pelvic tilt exercise that is some kind of flexion in the spine..I am a big fan of your Channel now

    • @goodwinclinics

      This exercise flexes the lumbosacral area more than the spine. It should feel good to do and give relief. If you have been told not to do flexion, you should check with them first.
