The reason Mace beat Palpatine in the duel, is because he was the perfect counter to a Sith lord. He actually created a lightsaber form variant called Vapaad, to be able to defeat any dark side force user. Not to mention he specialized in Form 7, so he could predict the types of strikes Palpatine used because he was better at it. Also I'd like to mention that Palpatine had less experience in combat, he had only used his lightsaber 2 times in the Clone Wars, and he didn't even kill his master with a lightsaber. Outside of training with Plagueis, he may have only ever been in 3 or 4 duels in his entire life.

What about Plo Koon? The one guy we all firmly agree would kick Pong Krell right where it hurts with no remorse the moment Wolffe gets called CT--- (that's where the kick goes).

I love Mace Windu, but there’s some things that he handled poorly. You can critique a character while still loving them. I wouldn’t label him as a dogmatic jerk but as cold and arrogant. The way he and the other Jedi treated Anakin as a child was not okay, the way he handled Ashoka’s situation without even an apology was not okay. And the way he tried to arrest Sheev without notifying the other counsel members before going to his office wasn’t smart. Mace Windu is a badass unique character and I hope he returns. But like other characters he’s not perfect, he’s made mistakes but I would say he’s a good man regardless.

@@OGStarlightKY are you forgetting Windu and Yoda telling Obiwan in episode 2 that Anakin is ready whereas he was in his worst point ever. They gave him the benefit of doubt but it became clear as he grew that he did not get better. they thought he was just being a young Jedi until they saw that he is just that. Irrational

Mace is one of the greatest. Though I think Yoda would've bested Sidious had it stayed a lightsaber battle, and Sidious knew that. That's why he reverted to using the force to keep Yoda away. Plus he already lost one duel, I don't think his ego could take more losses

True to some extent - though he got played *the least*, sensed Palpatine's danger and was going to kill Palpatine if it wasn't for Anakin.

@@SeyedJalalHosseini Windu going to confront Palpatine was part of his sith plan, the last action to paint the Jedi as evil usurpers and declare his empire. He even uses it as an excuse for his true physical form now being out in the open. I'm still not convinced Windu won that fight, the whole Sidious 'weakness' to me was a ploy to finally get Anakin once and for all. But that's just the viewpoint I've developed over the years, that Sidious really was 10 steps ahead of everyone and that the Jedi were at a very weak point at that moment in Star Wars history. Their zealotry towards the light side of the force and their arrogance in that self-righteousness kept them from seeking balance and completely shunning understanding and opportunities of overcoming the dark side made them weaker and blind. Yoda understood this after going on his Qui Gon mandated quest and you can see the change in him in the future when training Luke, just downright sending him into that cave instead of the old "no dark side allowed" policy.

@@Oakshield2 according to somebody at lucasfilm Windu did win the fight if Anakin hadn't shown up in fact it's been confirmed that he Anakin and Yoda were the only Jedi powerful enough to defeat Palpatine

- Doesnt trust Anakin, the person we know would later go on to commit genocide and murder thousands. Even while a jedi, he went out of his way to massacre an entire village for the death of one person. - Goes to arrest sidious, only attempting to kill him when sidious uses his force lightning thus making it apparent that there is no way to actually take him prisoner. - Doesnt want to take the clearly-too-old Anakin into the jedi order, but is overruled which eventually leads to the rise of darth vader. - Is willing to kill sidious despite it 'not being the jedi way' because he realizes what a threat sidious poses and that he absolutely *HAS* to die no matter what. - Out of all the Jedi, he's the only one actively suspicious of Palpatine and is ready to remove him from power if he oversteps his bounds. He might not realize the true depth of the threat, but he does recognize Palpatines authoritarian power grabs for what they are and is ready to act to put an end to it. - Requests Anakin to spy on palpatine, an action which leads to discovering the true identity of the sith lord. If Anakin hadnt been a filthy traitor, this action would have been essentially responsible for ending the sith plot. Literally everything he does is right. Y'all need to stop blaming windu for everything even though all of his perceptions are proven correct. Do you honestly think Sidious needed windu to attack? as if it wouldnt be easy to frame an attack from the jedi? at absolute worst, all the attack on Sidious did was accelerate order 66 by a couple weeks, maybe. And at best it could have killed sidious and put a halt to the Sith threat then and there. You have any idea how easy it would be for palpatine to maybe just cut themself with their own lightsaber then claim the jedi attacked him? who would possibly disbelieve him, he had the galaxy in his pocket. Sidious won because sidious was a master strategist who played the galaxy perfectly. If he made literally a single mis-step the jedi would have stopped them. They had some of the most powerful jedi who ever lived, as well as some of the most wise. They were not zealous or dogmatic or anything else, simply outplayed by a cunning mastermind. The same could be said for the CIS, the Republic, and almost happened to the rebellion even if the Ewoks hadnt shown up. The jedi were this close, within a hairs breadth, of stopping sidious. It seems entirely unfair to somehow suppose they are somehow at fault for everything that happens when none of hte rest of the galaxy figures it out either, and in fact the jedi are the closest of everyone in the entire galaxy. The CIS, the Senate, the clones... none of them figure out Palpatine is behind everything, yet we dont give them flack for it.

@@lenkagamine4145 Huzzah! A Star Wars fan of quality who actually understands! Mace doesn't even hate Anakin or anything either. He's just blunt with him. Mace Windu was blunt and a bit of a dick but still cared about people, especially his clones
