My father brought me along to see a Shelby identical to this, for sale in 1973. It had a high revving 427 GT500 side oiler, 4 speed & a very racy idle. The car was parked next to a gas station & showed 27,000 miles. They wouldn't allow him to drive it unless the owner was there. He stabbed the accelerator a few times in neutral & I'd never heard another engine (to this day) scream instantaneously without hesitation. The rear tires were completely smooth, probably from doing burnouts? Later he learned the guy lost his license & had to have the cash quickly. Before we could get there, it was gone 😣 😯 The asking price was $900

I found a '68 Shelby GT500KR for sale on a used car lot in Greenwood, IN. It was this color w/black interior. Salesman said a dentist owned it & wanted $2500.00 for it. Had the 428 dual 4's & C6,it looked in great shape. Sure wish I could've bought it! Oh,this was in mid 70's!

Always a very pretty car, but seems a bit tired. My old - and also tired 1967 SS396 Chevelle would incinerate the tires in first and second. Funny that now a 122 cubic-inch Jetta GLI 4 banger is just as fast and just as quick as a GT500. And it s a silly FWD compact kiddie car.
