This is what I imagine to be the "exposition piece" as you ride into the Trainstation, razor trains and indistinct silhouettes going in and out of sight, as well as all manner of Dark and Griddy™ imagery. Eventually, you get out and are immediately scanned by a Combot (the predecessor of the Scanner), so I wanted that little synth lead at the end to kind of highlight that :)

How did you do it? The voice sounds fantastic.
The process went as follows: -Get the 5.1 surround sound mix of the song -Drop the file into Audacity to get the additional surround sound tracks One of them has the bass, dry lead vocals, and dry drums isolated The other has the reverb track and miscellaneous strings -Phase invert the bass/vocal/drums track with the front L&R track to get piano, backing vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, organ, strings in one track -Use various MVSep models to isolate the instruments of choice: Piano: MVSep Piano - Ensemble model type Guitar: MVSep Guitar - Ensemble model type Bass: MVSep Bass Drums: MVSep Drums - Mel + SCNet Vocals: BS-Roformer - ver 2024.08 You could probably isolate more elements but I chose to leave the organ and the strings in one "Other" track. Despite how clean every track is, there is still a fair bit of occasional bleed from the models not correctly identifying instruments, but I worked my way around that just fine. The lead vocals have to be the cleanest out of all of them, holy FUCK it was surreal hearing that. After correctly setting up the stems: -Put all of them into Melodyne and use "Melodic" (monophonic) mode where it's applicable, for parts like the bass and the lead vocals (when there are no harmonies) -Use Polyphonic Sustain for the other parts like the piano -Open the "Scale Editor" from the Options tab -Right click on Bb and set the scale to Bb Major -Go into your track of choice -Hover over "Notes Reflect Scale Changes" -Select "Tuning and Mode" -Right click again and set the scale to Bb Minor You're gonna have to disable "Notes Reflect Scale Changes", set the key back to Bb Major, and then repeat the process again for each element. After that: -Listen and make sure it doesn't go anywhere it's not supposed to melodically or harmonically -Manually edit the notes to sound right The automatic process was pretty good for the most part but I had to fix the "so with sadness in my heart" and "in my heart of hearts" parts, since those had descending basslines and that part needed to be more chromatic. I also had to make sure the bass groove in the "tumbling down" part is kept the same as the original. -Export -Make final mix tweaks That's really it, idk what to say here, thanks for listening!
