This song came out a few days after my first husband left me for his pregnant mistress. I thought my life was done. I'd never love anyone again or so my ex said. I'm now remarried to my boyfriend from when I was 15 and I actually know things do work out. This song still brings a tear to my eye though.

Still have so many feelings for someone from 1996 when we ended. This song I played over and over. I’ve moved on, but that one person will always be that one I let get away!!

It’s scary how accurate this song is to my life. I met my wife when I was 15 and she was 13. After 26 years & 2 kids, she decided she didn’t love me anymore and made me a single dad. Maybe I’m broken because I can’t seem to get anyone in my life to understand that my heart & soul will always be her’s even though I’m not suppose to love her anymore. 🥺

Pretty voice, pretty pictures, and this communicates a pretty successful, happy, complete life. Thus, it is pretty incongruent with the lyrics and general bittersweet, melancholy tone of the song. As Simon might say, " It didn't really work for me, sorry."
