This song is from Ian Anderson's Homo Erraticus album. The pianos and organs are originally performed by John O'hara. Homo Erraticus is a phenomenon album, with a captivating Northern European History concept theme. The album is particularly cohesive, and it was the majestic organ, rhodes and piano playing on this album that played an enormous part in my wanted to take up keyboard in the first ...

3 Reasons Why Conspiracy Theories are False.
And the authentic folk song ruclips.net/video/1b3ZeIYNkS4/видео.htmlfeature=shared How would you rate the authentic version? Because this choir performs a version processed by a socialist composer, gingerbread and unnatural for Bulgarian folklore, imposed by force 45 years ago during the communizm
The second guy that makes a cover is not even close on the rhythm with hands. Also is very easy for a single person to record harmonies, but to gather a chorus with people with that close voices is hard. For the people interested I suggest to look for Philip Kutev and the chorus named after him. Bulgarian singing is a puzzle still unresolved, we are a very old nation and this is maybe the only generic thing left from our past... 100 years ago music professors roamed the villages and listened to regular people singing those songs, they all tried to recreate them and all admit that they are not even close. Today in modern times those villages are abandoned and this last drop of old culture is preserved only semi-professionally, but the stakes are too high for the world culture heritage. For now we know that girls that grew up in clean air with a busy working life develop into great singers, the selection for those choruses proves it... And this is even we begin talking about lyrics. They use a lot of dialect and hide great meaning, because mentioned are stuff that show great passion and knowledge about life in general. Its like they all sing elvish tales sometimes, other songs are like inner experience of a person in a key time of his life, they sometimes mention spirit and mind as one, stuff that are mentioned in really old scriptures...
What EVER you spent on the hair thing, was an awful waste. Mate, nobody will think one jot less of you, for stopping the Papa John Pizza boss look. And that's without the centre. Nobody..and I mean NOBODY sees anything but syrup.
Bulgarian voices clean the soul. I use it therapeutically. Oh, and interupt any music you like, but not this. Please.
For a Bulgarian song, you are it's modern! Less than 200 years old
It IS a modern song, essentially... the arrangement was created by a modernist mid-20th-century composer as part of the Soviet Union's project of projecting cultural identities as an antidote to Western ideals. The fact that it was a skilled and learned composer that took authentic folk melodies and added avant-garde harmonies to them does NOT diminish the astounding beauty of these compositions. This arrangement of "Kaval Siri" was done by Peter Liomdev, but the bulk of the recordings on the Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares albums were arranged by either Philip Koutev or Krassimir Kyurkjyinski. (I'm no scholar; I've just read the liner notes on all the Bulgarian chorale records I can find!) I've seen a touring ensemble performing these arrangements live, and it was one of the most powerful musical performances I've ever heard! Honestly, it felt like they were moving the air in the auditorium with just their voices. And modern or ancient, there's NOTHING like these pieces.
As you seem to know it all, go to tell that to my grandmother in the grave, who knew and sang hundreds of our fold songs, just like that one and see what she will tell you. The Bloody Fucking British England and co put the Bulgarian people in ottoman slavery after the Russians liberated the country in 1878. Bulgaria is the oldest country in Europe, creator of the Bulgarian alphabet (aka Cyrillic - stolen by the thankless Russians), first officially translating the Bible to a non "holy" language, it saved Europe twice from the muslims, to receive one hit after another by the UK/US/RU shit empires.

Bulgarian folk songs are from the beginnings of time, pre Christian at times. I'd look into Neli Andreeva, and the Trio Bulgarka
Hello Adam, Matias here, I was just looking for this song to play with the band on the weekend, and what a good version I found! Excellent explanation and wonderful sound you achieved. This video should have many more views for anyone who wants to sound like purple, Thanks for sharing it with us. keep rocking, you're doing great!
It’s interesting and a little amusing to hear you make comparisons between this Bulgarian music and contemporary, African, Lisa Gerard, as if maybe this choir might have drawn from those sources. Have a listen to more Bulgarian music- for example Trio Bulgarka (who recorded with Kate Bush on several of her albums)
@@Taketony1 I don't believe the chior has drawn from those sources. The music reminds me of those sources. This is a reaction video.
Obviously that's not what he was saying. It's the opposite. Lisa was directly influenced by Bulgarian folk. That's what he's picking up on.
@MS-pw6ur Thank you for your comment. I have to apologise for my reply. Last night, I had about 5 comments over various videos... ALL of them are saying how boring my videos are or how poor my observations were. Admittedly, by the time I read your comment, I was in a state of defence.... So when I read how a lot of the comments were bad takes... I assumed it was yet another comment telling how bad my content is. That's my mistake, and I unequivocally apologise.
@@adamjacksonmedia That is completely fair, and my response was probably overly defensive as well, so I apologize too. Should've considered it's natural to be on the defensive considering some of the other comments you've received.

Bullshiting about African elements in this typical Balkan traditional music. Melisma is what he tried to desdribe as African. God forbids! I have been lietening to this particular song and every time I am blown away. All Balkan countries have rich traditional vocal music, but Bulgarian is on the top for me! Kisses and hugs to all Bulgerians from brotherly Serbia!
@draganradosavljevic8982 It's called a reaction you goof ball. I didn't say it HAS African music it in. I said it's sounds reminds me of African music. This is a REACTION to a piece of music.

Another thing I seem to notice with Bulgarian folk songs are they use a lot of 9/8 or 7/8 but specifically divided into a 2+2+2+3 pattern for 9/8 or 2+2+3 for 7/8

Like you, I'm also some what of a Prog Rock player. My preference is easily the MODX. Both of these keyboards are very powerful & light weight, with pros & cons to both. As you pointed out, the MODX is generally speaking, better at real life instruments. I feel the MODX is better aimed at rock players over all, and the Fantom 0 at synth pop, techno & hip hop. As I have Roland's VST's which provide all of Fantom 0's sounds except the super natural sounds (of which there aren't that many) nor the B3 engine. I've also been able to check out most of the expansion packs too. I feel the MODX is about equal for analog synth type sounds as you will find tons of great ones in various sound libraries. The Fantom is probably easier for deep editing of those kind of sounds, but the MODX is about equally capable in the hands of good programmers. But as more of a rock person, the kinds of analog sounds I need are Oberheim, Moog, Prophet, ARP and much less so, the ones Roland is famous for. Neither keyboard is really ideal for this, but you can certainly get by. I mostly use VST's for that kind of stuff or my iPhone synths for the exact engines lacking in either the MODX or Fantom 0. The MODX+ has 1.7gb user memory (current model MODX) and the older version 1gb. The Fantom 0 has only 256 megs. 1 gb=1024 megs. So that is a huge difference in terms of the ability to load sound libraries that include sampled waveforms. The MODX also has significantly more on board samples at 5.6gb in rom. The Fantom 0 however does have 2 gb of "one shot" sample memory for sound effects, but not playable instruments. I feel the lack of multi-sample ram on the Fantom 0 is one of it's biggest limitations. They do however offer models of some of Roland's classic synth engines for $150 each. The Fantom 0 does have the edge on organs with an included B3 engine. From numerous reviews, while it's decent, it's not equal to a Hammond clone keyboard nor as good as what is available on VST's for computers, iPad or even iPhone. The Organimation sound library for MODX ($50) probably comes pretty close to the Fantom 0 B3 ability which is surprisingly good, allows for real-time drawbar changes cleverly using the Superknob, overdrive, etc. Probably still a little less flexible than the Fantom organ engine, but over all not far behind in what you can do with it. The Fantom organ engine like that of the Korg Kronos & Nautilus while good that they are included in a rompler, are still below that of an organ synthesizer keyboard such as those from Hammond, Nord, Mojo, etc. The MODX has direct support for an iPad or iPhone with a single cable and dedicated USB volume knob. I run iPhone synths such as the VB3 organ ($15, same engine as the MOJO organ keyboard) which is probably better than the Fantom 0 organ engine, but I mostly use my laptop for VST's. Moog Music makes a Mini Moog & Modular Moog for both iPad/iPhone. Korg has their M1, Wavestation, ARP Odyssey for both, and many more. You have to buy a device to use iPad/iPhone synths with a Fantom 0. The MODX FM-X engine includes the classic DX-7 and compatibility, but greatly expands on it. The single best thing about the MODX is it is fully compatible with the Montage sound libraries from the MOTIF XF, XS, and the earlier ES & original MOTIF (the last 2 via paid software utility), the DX-7, TX-816 & TX-802. That covers all of Yamaha's pro synth sounds for more than 20 years, plus much of their 80s sounds. There are probably more sounds you can get for the MODX or Montage than any other keyboard ever made! Your almost bound to find what your looking for. No other keyboards have retained this much file compatibility with older model synths. In summary, if your a rock player, be sure to carefully explorer the MODX as it is probably the right choice for most, unless you really only need Hammond sounds and not synth or other real iinstrument sounds. If your main thing is "making beats" as a hip hop artist, synth pop, or electronica the Fantom 0 is probably your better choice. But best to try them both out for yourself. While the MODX keybed gets a lot of hate, I prefer it to the Fantom 0 (I use the 61 key version), but both are of similar quality and work well, but not of the premium grade some people demand.
Thank you for the informative response. I've become convinced that the Modx may be better for synth... and I've actually sold my Fantom O. I should probably update my thoughts.

For me the choir is more reminiscent of Karl Jenkin's Adiemus project. Feels like both he and Lisa drew lots of inspiration from Bulgarian polyphony.
Bulgarian folk music is constantly used in movies. The most famous of which are Ghost in the Shell (although here it is more of an influence), Xena, Warrior Princess, 300 and Willow. Unfortunately James Horner gives no credit to Bulgarian folklore, although the main melody in Willow is „borrowed“ almost entirely from the wonderful Bulgarian song Mir Stanke le...

You cant charge an iPad from the MODX, unless you leave it for about 12 hours. Other than that, as an owner of both i agree with pretty much all this. I do find the MODx to sound thicker than my 06, even for the vintage sounds. I also have 3 of the expansions.
