    Starmer's other notable legal achievements: helping the police officers who murdered Jean Charles de Menezes get away with it; helped soldier Lee Clegg get away with killing a sixteen year old joyrider in Northern Ireland; trying to extradite learning-disabled UFOlogist Gary MacKinnon to America on dubious charges; unilaterally blocked the international arrest warrant for Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni.

    • @LawWithJin
      @LawWithJin 2 месяца назад

      I prefer to stay neutral on these kind of topics, but you have to keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes just become so much more costly the more important a person becomes. We know that Keir Starmer was DPP, a difficult job in its nature. Yes its easy to point fingers and blame somebody for a variety of things, but let’s not forget that context is also a key role in assessing the gravity of a situation.

    • @dinogoldie9716
      @dinogoldie9716 2 месяца назад

      @@LawWithJin What "context" excuses unilaterally obstructing an international arrest warrant? What context justified the murder of d Jean Charles de Meneze? What context merited Starmer having to be stopped by Theresa May from extraditing a learning disabled man on nonsense charges? What context justifies DPP Starmer advising repressive regimes in West Africa and The Middle East on how to get away with persecuting their people?

    • @LawWithJin
      @LawWithJin 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your detailed concerns. It's important to recognize that each case involving Keir Starmer, such as those of Jean Charles de Menezes, Lee Clegg, Gary McKinnon, and Tzipi Livni, involved complex legal and ethical considerations. Decisions not to prosecute or to block actions were made based on thorough reviews of evidence, legal standards, and often broader diplomatic implications. Moreover, legal professionals, including Starmer during his tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions, are tasked with upholding the law impartially, navigating intricate judicial processes, and sometimes balancing public interest with legal constraints. The criticisms, while serious, should be viewed within the broader context of these multifaceted legal landscapes.

      @@LawWithJin I guess your tutor told you to write that. your argument that lawyers can't act illegally/immorally because they are lawyers is rather circular. Good luck with your A-levels. Good luck learning the difference between right and wrong too.

    How do the tories and labour party's views on the legal system differ?

    • @LawWithJin
      @LawWithJin 3 месяца назад

      What a great question! The legal field is very large, so there are many topics within it. This means both parties have agreements and disagreements about certain topics. Overall though conservatives try focus on 'tough' laws, trying to maintain trad. legal principles like national security etc. However Labour leans more towards laws more concerned with human rights and social justice, supporting advances like legal aid expansion and reforms to try have fair elections. I hope this answered your question, if you have any more feel free to ask!
