Our latest song; Birid Mi! This is sung in a language long lost to us now. This is Old Frisian from the 7th century, and not much of it has been written down. So, alas we cannot reconstruct the language, but there are a few full sentences and so we could at least do a song!
Fun fact; behind us, is our wonderfull little holiday home; Tranmer House. The big Edwardian mansion on Sutton Hoo.
Fun fact 2; did you notice the color of the patch of sky? And the fact that we are wearing sunglasses to shield our eyes from the bright yellow thing up there? Yeah, it was like that for a whole week... We are lucky bastards!!

So, here's something a little different. It's a recitation in a variant of Old Frisian. The text is a combination of 2 runic inscriptions, out of only about 20 found in this old language. The inscriptions date back to the 8th century and were written on small pieces of yew wood. Many thanks to Jens Løyche Bonde and the wonderful musicians at Ribe Vikingcentre, to make this song stick in our heads... So we had to make a cover version! Björnlåten is a traditional Swedish melody, with lyrics by Per Runberg. It's a song about snow!

March 12th we played a gig at Sutton Hoo, and one of the newer additions to our repertoire is this traditional Danish Folk Song, called Ramund hin unge. So, for an upcoming mid-winter gig, we were rehearsing the setlist and decided to videotape it. This is one of the songs on the list and we were rather happy with how it turned out... It's a Moro original song, but we had never played it with the Nycklharpa. Sounds pretty good, no? :) Let us know what you think!
