Just went to see them in concert 3 days ago in Birmingham and that song still brings down the house... just like it did 25 years ago when I first saw them in concert
I'm no longer terrified of myself and I no longer have this need to stick around for someone who never believed in me enough to just be loyal. Take care though and good luck in your endeavors you who once had my heart but never will again, I'm finally happy without you. ~ Cameron
One of the best songs I've ever heard. It's 2019 and I'm listening to it many years. This version is the best I could find so far. Thanks mates! Cheers
Still listening to this in 2019. I can distinctly remember listening to this on loop while on a swing in Granby Quebec. I was on the first three months of a nine month journey that would change the entire arch of my life. Rob Thomas and Ottis Redding both occupying the same bittersweet portion of my consciousness that feels grateful for such deep and evocative music.
All of their acoustic versions remind me of Tabitha's Secret...that's why I much prefer them. Though I do very much like MB20 as they are today. "It's me...and I can't get myself to go away:(" "Guess what, you get so far so fast...So what, so long..." PRETTY WORDS!
I like the album Yourself or Someone Like You. I’m not gonna sit here and say that this is the best shit I’ve ever heard in my life but for some reason this performance has always stuck with me. It’s been in my head for years. Always loved the tune.
@ sevenfacecomplex lol. But seriously the album version has some really nice touches, and the pounding bass at the very last “reach down” part when it goes Em, D, C and stays on C as he screams has so much power (relative to a capo on the 4th fret)
Jnel219 - Rob's mom was still alive when this song was written and released. He wrote "3am" about his mom's struggle with cancer and how he dealt with it at such a young age.
@BrodEirennach90 I am a little boy and I'm a big thrash and death metal fan, but I still listen to bands like MB20 and Smshing Pumpkins. I even like the Who and Frank Sinatra.
Eli Bravo I ALSO LOVE THIS SONG ALSO THANK JESUS CHRIST IN THE DEATH OF LOVED ONES HE COMFORTS US THROUGH INTENSE PAIN. THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN very close to THE PASSING AWAY OF ROB THOMAS'S BELOVED MOTHER.
Best version hands down. Need on Spotify. But always come back here :)
100% I don't get why it is not on spotify

This is a cover dudes.....but a good one.
Nope. It really isn't
Lol they covered their own song. Rob Thomas’ voice is unmistakable.
@@EliteTeamKiller2.0 Unmistakable is right.
I think Rob Thomas and Rivers Cuomo are the most underrated singer/songwriters of the 90's.
I liked Rivers then but now I like Rob?
Amen

Maybe not but there’s like 7 or 8 songs that were single worthy on that album.
awesome upload, loving the box drum

Nostalgia
i had heard rob thomas wrote this to his mom after she passed away. seriously brings tears to my eyes.
