A pity that Ms. Teresa Teng never got married as you can see here in this vintage interview that she’s “dreaming about it” and “wants to settle down”. May she forever rest in peace. We miss you, even after almost 30 years.
It's impressive how she could manage to speak so many languages fairly well. Despite her native hokkien and mandarin, she could also speak cantonese, japanese and english very well.
I am from Ecuador and i dont know why or how i heard this songs in my teens, (i am now 36)on my 20's i found out it was her...omg i fell in love with her...it hurt to feel love for her...seriously and i actually cried when I saw videos of fews covering her death... crazy how her songs touched me and I dont even understand wht she sings, all i know is that my heart hurt, and i become emotional (no i am not EMO or GAY) I only heard her songs, and watched many of her songs on RUclips I did not know she was dead, until I started to search more about her... I knew she was old but didnt know how old, in my mid 20's i thought maybe she was 40, I saw her videos but had no idea she was long gone in 1995 when I was 14, in 2011 i visited Taiwan and visited her resting place, and felt so sad that tears dropped, still dont know why :'(
@@poiuwnwang7109 i am natives to south America and my ancestors walked from norther asia, but recent asian roots no, i really dont know when or how i heard her songs. once i got to know her name i just saved all her youtube video :D
Her English was so excellent. She spoke a few languages: English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Japanese (unsure about this). I think being a Chinese has so many advantages. We tend to master a few languages such as English, Mandarin, Cantonese and our home dialect (in my case, I speak English, Mandarin (a bit), Cantonese (a bit), Malay (I've lost the fluency but I understand the swear words!), Hokkien (I've lost the fluency but understand the swear words!) and a bit of Spanish.
Speak for yourself, barely anyone here in Guilin can put two English words together. Considering English is taught in schools here it's pretty pitiful really. This place is supposed to be a tourist trap too.
I think Ms. Teresa Teng just recently had her secret engagement with Mr. Kuok at the time of the interview because she then was wearing the necklace that was given to her by her father as her engagement gift. This necklace is on display at the Teresa Teng Memorial Hall in Kaohsiung Taiwan.
Teresa was not only talented with her singing but also language skills. She went to Japan for training and learned Japanese so you can see her in a lot of Japanese interviews. As for English, she was in California studying at the local university in her "dark days" during her fiasco with the fake Indonesian passport in the late 70s. Actually, it was here that she met Jackie Chan during the time when he was making his early American film appearances. When she went to HK in the mid 70s, she couldn't speak a word of Cantonese but later become pretty fluent after several years. Talking about her, I do miss her. May she rest in peace!

She's the best chinese singer
I've always suspected that when she retired she would have settled in Japan.

Beautiful English accent by Teresa Teng. Much better than the Hong Kong singer Ms Ip who had a heavy Hong Kong accent.
She is also good at English.
I love you, Teresa! She can even speak English!
That british accent of an interviewer
Her English is native.

From Wiki, she's also fluent in French ?! Whaaa-... i need a vid ASAP!!!!
Lovely lady !
Can anyone tell me the reason why did they both speak English to each other? Because they could speak both Mandarin and Cantonese too.

she was most definitely fluent in Japanese. I think she spoke French as well.
Teresa Teng also spoke Hokkien, Malaysian, French, and a little Thai. She was simply amazing. 💜💜💜
