hi girls! i have seen first hand, men released with nowhere to go. i was fired on july 27 2023, then arrested on the 31st for having a prohibited firearm. it was my great grandfathers, just a keepsake really. connor mullen was my legal aid lawyer, i liked him, he did a great job. i served 10 months, the system tried to make me homeless even though i had my own house. i was lucky to have my family looking and checking on it. at 63 years old i can tell you that younger men go right back in because of homelessness. sure better than the streets. john howard society did not appear for anyone!

I really feel like there is a very large block of progressive individuals out there who are completely disengaged from politics, partially due to the fear mongering of fascism taking your country coming from the Left. It is times like this that I wish I had a RUclips channel to send out invites for other creators to ignore. I would love to hear both of you talk more about this, I think it is a very important subject, and is basically the reason I was a-political for decades; important stuff is happening in the world, the news does a bad job at covering it in any informative way, and the general population barley cares about it and parrots whatever the news told them to say. Now we live in a time where all of this is more extreme and people seem to care less. I am trying really hared to not be a-political, but if the whole country (Canada or the US, it doesn't seem to matter) wants to walk towards fascism and the elected officials opposing it are no more the luke warm centrists, why bother. It feels like I am just a single person saying the world would be better moving Left. But if everyone else wants to move Right... Also right wing parties talking about immigration rarely do anything at all because their economic policies, aka their core values, require mass immigration to kill the bargaining power of workers and depreciate wages. it's why the tories, Meloni, Swedish ruling party, etc. say they will stop it, but actually increase immigration/refugees. Cons in Canada are barely talking about immigration cause they'll keep the numbers up.

Poilievre will be the next prime minister and I blame Liberal and NDP incompetency for giving us him. Liberals especially of course, but the NDP also because they're wasting the biggest opportunity in their party's lifetime to take advantage of the housing crisis, cost of living crisis, the ongoing demise of healthcare, etc. to rally up the people and easily sweep the elections. Singh should've never been leader and should dropout cause anybody would do better. When you look at Eby or Kinew as the other NDP leaders in this country and then compare them to Singh, it's night and day how better they are at doing their job. Also regarding immigration, it is being used as a distraction by right wing parties, but at the same time it is a legitimate issue in both Europe and per say Canada. We don't have the housing, the infrastructure to accomodate all those people and bringing them in just exacerbates the issues we have. Not to mention mass immigration destroys the bargaining power of the working class and has been used by big companies lobbying our governments to depreciate the bargaining power of canadians and depreciate their wages. It's also stopping young canadians from accessing entry level jobs as they have to compete against people who will work for the bare minimum or under the table like many international """"""""""""students"""""""""""""", immigrants, TFWs, refugees are doing rn. I have nothing against immigrants. I blame our awful governments, but at the same time we don't have the infrastructures, ressources to accomodate 2 million new people a year. The social democrats in Denmark, a left leaning party, has shown that by taking a stand against mass immigration left leaning parties will make huge gains as people want social services, want good infrastructure, healthcare, education, but don't want their bargaining power and wages depreciated. It's also crazy that we have 235k homeless people, but would rather pay 100s of millions on housing refugees rather than housing our own, fellow canadians or also how the federal government also pays for 15% of the wages of immigrants/refugees. Imagine if all that money went to homeless canadians, canadians in disenfranchised situations/communities, a program akin to what we did with wartime housing, properly funding healthcare and education. The first politician in Canada to propose this will get a supermajority easily and it's what the old NDP would've done under someone like Tommy Douglas. Hell, even an average joe like me could get a supermajority if I proposed this and was leader of the NDP. As someone who's young, when I talk to others my age they don't dream much and it truly saddens me that our country has come to this point. Poilievre isn't campaigning on any of this, his populism relies on saying everything is bad and Trudeau is the devil, but he's a Con, he'll destroy the country and if we don't run with a counter message that most Canadians agree on like the stuff I mentioned, we'll be stuck with him for 4 years and maybe longer...

I will never be on Twitter. But I would love to see Sandy and Nora do more collaboration with amazing voices on RUclips. I could imagine some really interesting conversations about Canadian politics, and current politics in general with people like Rachel Gilmore (@atrachelgilmore) or David Doel (@therationalnational). Especially talking about the global rise towards fascism.
