The fact remains that everything Morrison and Sonnichsen published is hearsay in its best light. Oliver P. Roberts (Brushy's birth name) left no written record. Morrison said that he read notebooks that Brushy showed him but they contained no mention of being the Kid. After Brushy's death, said notebooks were never found. If they did exist, Brushy must have destroyed them because they failed to support his story. The mythical tapes of Brushy telling his story have never been made public. If they exist then they have either proven too damaged to be of use or they serve only to expose the fraud. You can pretend that Morrison wrote of what Brushy told him, but that is just Morrison's claim with zero proof to back it up. Brushy's family never believed him, and they knew his history better than anyone. Their records show his birth year as 1879. Roberts died at about 71 years of age, and that's about how old he looked. He signed his draft registration when he was 39 or 40, on the exact date (September 12, 1918) required by law for men under 45. Yet we are expected to believe he was actually 60 when he signed that. It would have been really cool if Brush bill Roberts Was Billy the Kid. But hes not.. But if he was that would be really cool. But there isn't enough evidence to LinkedIn to the real Billy the Kid. The real thing is we will never know who really was believed to kid. The greatest site in Lincoln New Mexico. The grave site If we could get DNA To prove philly the kid will be died in 1881 or 1950. My great great grandmother was Ellen Casey-Moore, sister of Lily Casey-Klasner. They grew up in Lincoln NM and knew William (Billy the Kid) as well as John Chisum, and were close friends with both. Billy was even employed by my 3rd great grandmother Ellen Evaline Shellenbarger-Casey who had a warrant for her arrest in 1881 (by Pat Garrett), the same time Pat supposedly killed Billy. Fast forward to 1984 - I visited my great grandma Cora Moore (Ellen Casey-Moore's daughter in law) who was in a nursing home, and in conversation, she told me that Garrett did not kill Billy, because Billy had come from Lincoln, NM to Toyah, TX with The Casey's in 1882. He offered them protection from indians and bandits because Ellen was a widow, her husband Robert Casey had been gunned down in Lincoln in 1875. Billy stayed with them a short time and left for Mexico. I didn't really believe my great grandma at the time, but she apparently knew exactly what she was talking about. I believe William Henry Roberts was the real deal. He was Billy the Kid.

I understand that there was no one to identify Billy's' body that was part of the gang that wanted him caught because he was buried before they could identify him .
