    As an Australian, what I find amusing is how many people in the world do not understand emus or Australia (I do give you credit for knowing how to say, "emu"). Emus are a migrating bird and Westen Australia is a very large state with a big desert in it. When the emus find it had to find food in the desert they migrate towards better food, and in this case, to paddocks full of wheat and some very unhappy farmers. What a lot of people also seem to not understand is that when you shoot an emu in the body, it will just run off. So, what people then do is shoot the emu some more which then kills them, but you are now using up a lot of bullets to kill a small number of emus, which is what happened. But the last thing people seem to not understand is that farmers are still fighting with emus, and they can be a pest when you are feeding livestock or growing grain crops. Emus might look stupid, but they live in some very dry environments, and they will take advantage of a grain crop if they see one.

      @Historiators 19 часов назад

      @anthonyj7989 Thanks for sharing your insights! Emus are definitely fascinating creatures, and it's interesting to learn more about their behavior and the challenges they pose to farmers in Australia. maybe is nature's way of reminding us that sometimes, the simplest creatures can cause the biggest headaches. Who knew agriculture could turn into a real-life game of "Duck, Duck, Goose"?

    • @anthonyj7989
      @anthonyj7989 17 часов назад

      @@HistoriatorsIf you look into agriculture in Australia and you will find that farmers are battling with over animals as well, such as cockatoos, kangaroos, mice, camels and the list is just getting bigger. It is just that emus are the most well known one but not the only one.

    • @-Fritz-
      @-Fritz- 5 часов назад

      As an Australian, what I find amusing is how many people in the world think it was the entire army fighting against emus, when in reality it was only three people.

      Agreed! The voiceover says a phrase at 6:45 and repeats the same statement just seconds later. The graphics are bizarre. When the narrator says she was the daughter of Lord Byron, there is a picture of the headstone of Charles Baudelaire. What were they thinking? "Just any graphic reference to a dead poet!" After the Treaty of Cambrai when the whole of Europe turned on Venice in 1508. The Venetians made a gangster move and moved their wealth to Holland where they created the first central bank and capital markets. Also think canals and reclaimed land. They then moved into England where what is known as The Venetian Party slowly took over culminating in William and Mary and a merger. From then on London took over the global trade the Venetians had always controlled, spices etc. They imprinted their "Slavery, Usury, Oligarchy, policies and then did what Venice was always going to do. What a pile of condescending garbage - It might be vaguely humorous if done by someone not a pom with no concept or experience save the fact that they buggered their own country up and now want to charge us for advice on how to do the same with ours. People started arriving here before almost anywhere else - more people arrived and so began a continuous evolution of migration. It is hard to say who is a rightful occupant since we are all originally from somewhere else. Those of us born here have a natural attachment - don't look for saints or heroes - we are just human beings mosly trying to do our best.

      The challenges Buddhism faced were often due to political shifts, cultural changes, and the rise of other religions rather than an inherent issue with its teachings. Buddhism teaching often required human to control their emotion and desire which most human failed to do it or couldn't do it that's why its hard for most human. and since those who follow Buddhism teaching often are peaceful human, so when they faced political shifts/cultural changes or the rise of other religions, they didn't resist which result in reducing population of Buddhism followers. this is my thought though

    Cook never claim the entire land for England. He never planted a flag. His journey log does not mention anything about taking land. He does talk extensively of inhabitants, so he did not claim it was without people.

      The National Museum of Australia says "Lieutenant James Cook, captain of HMB Endeavour, claimed the eastern portion of the Australian continent for the British Crown in 1770, naming it New South Wales.".

      It was terra nullius, nobody's land. A land without a leader.

      @jimmyboy2 So you're telling me Cook was just on a really long vacation and forgot to bring a flag? Classic overachiever move! Cook's logs show a fascinating perspective on his encounters with the inhabitants, and it's important to acknowledge that history is often more complex than it appears.

      @FlyxPat exactly... "not the entire land" as I said. He noted not known how far the west was which had been claimed by the Dutch navigators but was sure no European had seen this eastern land below 38 degrees. Cook was also not the first Englishman to walk on Australian soil as that was William Dampier

      @FlyxPat That's an interesting fact! The history of exploration is always fascinating to dive into. Cook's journey had such a significant impact on Australia.

      Whoa, that’s some heavy stuff! History can be a wild ride, huh? Let’s just hope we can learn from it and move forward together!
