Possible theory: the robots you play as arent human, they're sentient algorithms based on the unique data they originally got FROM those original humans, thus is why they dont have actual names and instead have nicknames based on their abilities, abilities i can only assume are based on the data of the humans like their jobs and their personalities which was deciphered from their data and then mish mashed into new "sparks", for example phantoma is a crazy scientist type, so obviously "doctor" would be some of the data they were trained off of, kata is an absurd chaotic character with a kind of switch personality, they were probably a gamer or streamer, and so on. why? because. no seriously just because. the audience seems to love it and the robots have loved gladiatorial battle since like forever
