Needs Based Feedback: Self-Blame vs Self-Reflection
Needs Based Based
With an awareness of universal human needs and whether actions are leading to those needs being met or unmet, we can offer either a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ feedback that is grounded in universal human needs instead of assumptions, judgments and blame.
With needs-based feedback, our intention is not to praise or blame, but rather do the following:
1)When our needs are met: Share genuine appreciation by stating the stimulus, pleasant feelings and met needs. We can offer this feedback to ourselves and others.
2)When our needs are unmet: Offer support by stating the stimulus, unpleasant feelings, unmet needs and action requests which would contribute to growth. We can offer th...

Why Separating Stimulus and Stories Benefits You

Empathic vs Non-Empathic Responses
Просмотров 405 месяцев назад
When someone shares something with us, we could be making empathic or non-empathic responses. With empathic responses, we try to connect with the speaker's experience and understand what's important for them. For this, empathy requires presence and a willingness to follow the speaker. #EmotionalIntelligence #MyEmotionsMatter

Minimize misunderstandings with this one question

Often times, there is a disjuncture between what someone said and what they meant. Other times, there can be a gap between what they meant and what we thought they meant. Then there are times when we want to be heard but we are silent about our inner world. Developing a habit of checking for understanding- asking if the way you understood what was said was the same way it was meant, can reduce ...

Differences are inevitable but conflict doesn't have to be. When working together, although the goal is to the collaborate, we might run into situations where our individual preferences are different. In such cases, an emotionally intelligent response is to identify our mutual needs and ask: what would help both of us? The energy then shifts from 'who is right' to truly collaborating. #Emotiona...

Exactly, schools should have taught about mental issues and mind control/self control. I think mind is the biggest and the most important subject in the world which should have been given more priority since our childhoods. Lives would have been better then.

I really loved this episode despite having to look elsewhere now for my weeky audio content. I actually loved this even more than the previous vlog. I think it will only get better over time. Best wishes for that 😁👍. Just one thing though ☝️☹️, At the start there was too much NOISE 🔊even to the point at some part it became inaudible. Really wish you guys used a pin-mic or may be even recorded the intro later on in a less noisy environment for the future.

Thanks to another helpful mechanism for a better way to live life. If I can share, I've recently noticed and encountered sudden changes in my habits due to realized values (reaffirmation with old thoughts and values) and from being better understood/re- aligning my core values. It has been helpful to overcome my triggering cues or emotional cues on habits that i have been struggling on for many month and even years. I would love to hear about values on your next podcast. My core value is growth. I want to set discipline, awareness and caution, individualism, hard work (strict work ethic) as my supportive values. My values fuel and power my daily desired state of well-being. I would love to hear more about values. I am pure scavenger in this topic so anything you through, I will note it and apply it and reflect it later on. haha. Emotional Intelligence has been a wonderful, peaceful and joyful journey for me. Thank you for your noble service.

No my profession does not align with my personal values. But exploring different professions had given me concrete values. Before I came to KSA, I don't even know what I will doing with my life . Now that I am here for more than a year I have a clear values and passion to follow. My primary values are: 1) Never settle for less 2) Never make money your priority 3) Follow your dream no matter what . 4) Never loss temper. 4) Keep learning. Every single thing in the universe has something to teach. 5) And have faith in time. Because the best thing about time is it keeps moving and no matter how sad or happy you are, it will fade away soon. So if you are in a struggle stage, give yourself time, be patient, it will soon be gone. Find your values, add some more good values in you and demobilized the self limiting beliefs.
