Let's agree on one thing about scuba regulators, it's life support. You never want to cheap out on life support equipment. Am not trying to justify extravagant expenditures on fancy gear that doesn't have any practical purpose. Reliable gear costs, I happen to use an apex ATX 200. This reg is very smooth at depth and very robust in cold water. I also use the garmin descent mk2i with its transmitter, and I find this combination good value for money. The watch does much more than just diving, and with a transmitter attached, I can monitor my air consumption accurately without any surprises of low air during a dive. This goes back to safety and redundancy. I strongly believe that no one should cheap out on life support equipment. Just don't go buying gold-plated regs😂. I don't intend to buy new gear in a very long time, and that's the whole point of buying nice up to date gear.

Why can divers breathe at depth and a free diver can’t take a regulator breath?

She has nice attributes indeed "lovely lines", but she's not an experienced diver for sure, using arms? she's overweight! "no wonder, that seems a 12 liter tank "15 to 17 kg" on a petite lean woman "is her BCD properly inflated for her to get better buoyancy?, her BCD is to large for her/ or not correctly fasten , makes the tank unstable at her back as we can see at 0:34 she's bumping the rocky ground, her trim is not good...hope she get's better to enjoy more the diving experience, when I dive without wetsuit in my 15 degres celsius water I experience 2 nasty things 1- Overall SAC is poorer than with a 3 mm wetsuit "I bet my heart is pumping blood more vigorously and I consume more air" 2- Not that good while diving in wrecks and rocky grounds "sometimes the current is strong and makes me bump objects or reefs, cuts on rusty iron or on sharp rocks are NOT nice, can be deadly if you don't have your tetanus shot up to date", diving without a wetsuit is a nice experience but can be troublesome with temperature shocks, if you jump out of a boat in the summer with 38 degrees celsius to water as cold as 16 degrees, you can have a nasty surprise like an heart attack.

As a student: Dont' be cheap. Tip: Take scuba lessons at home in murky cold waters and not on a vacation in blue warm water. On topic, We need a smart RUclips algoritm that can find scuba instructors.

Number 4 reminds me a lot of my first attempts.... 🙈 I exhaled through my mouth instead of my nose to clean the mask, and then I choked on the water and stomped to the surface every time because I had to cough. If someone had told me before that you can just cough into the regulator, this probably wouldn't have happened… It took many dives before I was able to look at these practice diving platforms without fear. I always layed down on it and waited until I calmed down. Now, after two years, I had my 100th dive and I'm happy. 😇

I don't know if I'll ever try SCUBA. If I ever decide to try it out though, I'm not going to feel comfortable with my instructor unless he's as relentlessly critical of the world as you are. I mean that in the nicest way possible. It's exactly what I want from a SCUBA instructor, or someone who might teach me to fly private airplanes. You remind me of the guy who taught me firearm safety, and that seems to have worked fairly well. I'm still alive and totally uninjured on that front. Thanks for the cool videos man.

The Xbox controller itself is perfectly safe for operating heavy machinery. In the millitary they do it all the time. The biggest red flag for me honestly the decision not to have an umbilical chord attached to the support vessel. This was honestly their worst decision. The Carbon fiber construction too. They needed a titanium hull for something like this.

I think the cheap controller is not a problem... ...It being wireless, is a big problem!

I'm glad they died quickly.... ...It's terrible that the guy that's responsible can't be sued. This should never have happened. A submarine made of carbon is always a bad idea. But that was not the only problem.

Gave up scuba diving 1995 already to many wankers . Since then i only snorkel i don't miss it at all .

There were no safety divers below 60m. As I recall, in earlier docos, Wiki stated that he had left to do his deco stops, after Audrey's descent. Pascal was not a safety diver. He gave her lift bag what air he could spare. IMO she may not (not sure) have got laryngospasm if she had inhaled from his regulator carefully (not sure what his mixes were) for a few breaths. But if she was ok then she could have used that last breath of air mix, to fin her way to the surface alone. (That compressed air mix would slowly expand to approx 17-18x volume in her lungs during ascent and she would have had to exhale it continuously, especially in the last 10-20m (30-60ft). It would possibly be sufficient for her to get close to the surface alive, if she could resist inhaling water.) Though she most likely would have suffered a shallow water blackout near the surface, and possibly a mild degree of decompression sickness. Oxygen toxicity at depth would have depended on the air mix she used. But any chance is better than no chance at all. Love❤to Audrey.
