I also have shutdowns and they feel worse than meltdowns to me. Meltdowns feel like I’ve lost control of my emotions and so they just flow out until they’ve run their course and I can calm down enough to step away and recover, which usually involves numbing out. Shutdowns feel like I’ve lost control of my body; I can’t move or speak, it takes an incredible amount of effort to do either of those and I just don’t have the energy to do it usually. So even if my loved ones are freaking out and begging me to tell them what’s going on, or a cop is dragging me across the ground (has actual happened to me), I can’t respond. I feel trapped in my body and can usually just sob silently while staring into space, maybe groaning occasionally. It’s takes hours to recover in a dark room alone. It’s terrifying.

IDK if this is the actual reason, but it may have to do with the difference between the stage and film. On stage, it's just Glinda singing, almost lecturing Elphaba while she runs around the room. Elphaba mostly sits on her bed and reacts to Galinda's antics, without participating. In the film, Elphaba is much more active, running around the room with Glinda, playing along. Even if she thinks its wierd or silly, she's having fun. Changing the line not only gives Elphaba the chance to be more of a participant, but it also shows how excited Glinda gets when she does so. It's to better showcase the creation of their friendship.

i agree- and in no one mourns the wicked when they changed the lyrics from "it's atrocious, it's obscene" to "it's uncanny, it's obscene" and the "green" being quiet instead of loud- also something about something bad from the movie vs the broadway version, both are good but i like the broadway version better musically, the scene itself in the movie is amazing though

Hey Melissa, I've recently been diagnosed with Autism, I do understand that it's an individual case by case type thing but I have similar traits yourself and tackle issues that it causes...couple it with what I call emotional tourettes and anger ruminating. It's been a learning curve to say the least but the biggest thing I am learning is not to apologise for being you.
