Clearly the Mind Goblins want you to find the map that leads to Hangonda so they can go to Saw Con
5 months late, but that thing with sir lora is called natural selection...
Just found ya channel and checking out the challenge runs. They are great! Really well thought out! Definitely want to see that "Perrin" run lol.
Your Oblivion challenges are really good, I hope you'll continue
Working on a new one as we speak. I'm hoping to get it out this week, but if not then definitely by next week!
We are at 457 likes. You better get that video going soon. 😂
gotta say, while your migraine is noticable, it's nothing compared to your descent during alien :) hope it wasn't too bad :)
Well... to be brutally honest I cut one section where I completely lost my temper lol, but that was it. Thankfully it was gone by the next morning. Still ended up getting pretty sick and I'm only just getting to where I can be on mic again bc my voice was toast, but thankfully I had a lot of footage to edit so I could work on things and there shouldn't be any schedule slippage.
@@LunastraVids I may have mentioned it before, but your voice with the sunless (not gonna abreviate THAT game name) background music is a soothing velvet blanket on my shriveled heart, so I can watch the same video multiple times, cause I always drift off into a daze of contentment :3
finally finished your aliens descent and I gotta say, your personal descent reminds me of when tom scott talked about timezones on computerphile ;)
so the whole leveling problem is a made up thing that just scares new players away from the game? oh no She is onto us
I'd say yes, overall people make the leveling problem into a bigger deal than it actually is. However, this character had one of the best bows and light armor sets plus the Mundane Ring and Spellbreaker by the end, which really helps. So you can mess up your leveling *or* use sub-par gear. Messing up both of those things, which is very possible for new players, will make things difficult.
@@LunastraVids mundane ring is guranteed, btw in your video you were suprised that you can't wear two - thats the case with every item in game but obviously it only applies only tonon unique rings, and if your character used EVERYTHING at their disposal like enchants pre made pots scrolls and poisons then i bet you could even run through max difficulty that way. Your bow was nothing super special and you didnt even fish for the UBER magical arrows. Source: i play just like that, not on max tho - usually something like 80%ish
so playing the game just as any sane person does? in sea of challenge runs this makes for a nice change of pace
Thank you so much for the video! It was such a great watch and I hope we get to see the Perm challenge run.
I hope so too! Leveling as a Bad Class is at 452 Likes at the time I'm writing this, so it's super close!
@LunastraVids I am gonna have to make so many accounts to boost that up. I need to see it.
Of course you wouldn’t roll the stats you wanted, you didn’t tag luck! Jokes aside, I do genuinely wonder if they had intended for personality to be more useful then it is here, only to nix whatever plans they had for it and leave it half implemented. One change I could see is if higher personality improved the magnitude or duration of illusion spells. Then you could at least argue some use cases for characters specialized in that school of magic.
I think Agility and Personality both suffer from some changes between Oblivion and Morrowind. In Morrowind, raising NPC disposition with speechcraft was a dice roll based on current disposition and character skill, so having high Personality for decent disposition out the gate could be useful. Agility played a big role in non-magic combat because high Agility meant you would hit more often, especially if your weapon skills weren't great, because that had dice rolls too. Since Oblivion got rid of those dice rolls without adding anything else for those Attributes to do, they became fairly useless in Oblivion.
I really appreciate that you read everything out for us, it helps give a fuller experience.
I do start skipping repeated sections, but I try to read out anything new at least once. Now if I could stop stumbling over my words, lol
Off course Clanfear can hit ghosts ; no one, dead or alive, is safe from them.
Mankar Cameron didn't know what hit him. You could almost see the confusion in his eyes. Haha
Yeah, I couldn't believe my luck when I landed that attack AND got the paralysis!
I think morrowind is the best elder scrolls game, but oblivion has so many funny moments.
At first I was very confused with the level up until I spotted the list to the right. Also the breakdown at the end would have been much better with a graph to show it. As always good content!
Fair point, I'll look around for something to make graphs in the future for stuff like that. I was working off a google spreadsheet that would have been tricky to read but maybe I could've done something with that.
@@LunastraVids You can find plenty of Graph/Char makers online, so I don't think it would be to complicated. Good Luck
Gonna watch this while eating breakfast. I like your videos luna!
Good day when my favorite RUclipsr releases a vid!
I swear I could watch randomized Oblivion runs all day
RUclips put this video on my front page, and I'm glad I clicked it! Given the timeline, I figured it would end up as background noise while I did something else, but I watched the whole hour of it. This is the first of your videos I've seen, but it won't be the last. You clearly know a lot about the game, and it was interesting to see all the things you took into account as you played. I love randomizers in general, but this one was the first Oblivion rando I've watched, and you made it a lot of fun! I appreciate that you spoke with a fairly even volume throughout, it made your voice easy to follow. By the end of the video, I built a headcanon around your character that she was just a normal person in Cyrodiil going about her stuff, completely unaware of any "game" or "levelling system". Understanding nothing about levels, no choices were made, so it all went random. I'm sure there's been times in my own life when I was one chance away from picking up a +5 Intelligence and life just didn't pull me that way that day. I look forward to seeing where your channel goes, and got subscribed to make sure I can!
wow ive never seen that callibens mace crammed back there either
13:03 The Starveling Cat! The Starveling Cat! Dumbest prank in the neath. No doubt about that.
Those level ups feel very similar to what I would do when playing Oblivion as a child whose knowledge of English consisted almost entirely things I picked up from whatever Pokemon game I played.
Probably going to have to wait a week or two to see "beating Oblivion but stats are level 1 PERNAMENTLY", going to need that level cap increaser from Nexus though?
I'm open to doing a stats start at 1 run at some point, but I'd need to use console commands so it's going to have to wait until I get Oblivion set up and halfway stable on PC.
At least you did not have to run "Can you beat (X) Elder Scrolls while drunk" challange! You have to have all your self inflicted buff and debuffs only come from in game alcohol. This was an interesting run nonetheless!
I am considering a Skooma challenge that would be pretty similar!
Love this premise: I'm not on pc, so I don't know, but would there be a mod that gives you the same character creation process?
There is an Oblivion Character Generator on the nexus. It doesn't need the PC version of the game because it just picks your character creation options and it's up to you to input them, kinda like I did here but all in one click.
maze like maps like this CAN be fun, but you need mechanics like space hulk or doorkickers...
You can just BUY Mutersalt here... For zee stories... Meanwhile, in Fallen London the browser game, you have go on a harrowing ride on the Railway to Hell (literal) and do some very specific actions to get 1 Mutersalt. That or... Pay the devs. But only at a specific time of year. London is truly Fallen.
Oof. Glad I've never played that one then. I tend to avoid mobile and browser games on the assumption they'll be filled with microtransaction bs like that
If I had a voice, I'd sing been waiting for this to continue :3
First foray into the land of --Tumblr-- The Iron Republic. The option with high terror, if I remember correctly, does something to your soul. Not sure if you still keep it or not. Actual Hell exists in this setting. Though... There is still contention in the "deep lore" if the "devils" are actually the biblical devils or just some species of mutated neath-man. These "devils" also deal in "souls", which you picked up a sackful of. There is also similar lore implications on whether or not these are actually _soul_ souls. Some descriptions say they are "entirely vestigial" while others say the people with no souls are emotionless. Like life has no flavor anymore, and all feelings are dulled. But hey... You can live without it, and it sells for a lot, so if you're desperate....
Honestly I could see some Captains going for the trade if not having a soul also dulls fear, considering the stuff we run into.
Dude rolled a nat one on navigation. 😂
new here, found you in my recommends and the title is pretty much how I played sunless sea ;) an early point I wanna make: you might want to invest in a pop filter (to, well... filter out your pops) and windprotection (to muffle your breathing noises) you have a nice and soothing voice, so I'll stick around ;)
Part of the issue in this episode was that I had moved my mic stand when cleaning and didn't get it positioned properly until part way through the session. But yeah, a better pop filter would probably help too - I'll look into it.
@@LunastraVids at some point I thunked you used a headset-mic, but a moved setup will do that... part 2 had similar issues, but I assume that was one recording session? aaanyway, just started to watch your aliens dd playlist and while I can't influence monetization: curse away, m'lady! ;)
@@FulloutPostal Yeah, the first 6 episodes are all one session. Probably would've been more but I was developing a nasty head cold and verging on a migraine. So that last episode might be a bit... grumpy. I'm better now so I'm going to record more Sunless Sea soon, once I'm done with my current challenge run!
@@LunastraVids as someone who's experienced migraines myself (including going to the ER to get *proper* iv painmeds), you made it through the horrible designdecisions of aliens dd, I believe in you to make it through a head-splitting, hair-pulling episode of insufferable pain :3
@@FulloutPostal Thankfully migraines are rare for me and they've never been bad enough to send me to the ER. I only get them if allergies, the weather, and illnesses like head colds conspire against me. I have other unexplained chronic pain but I am so glad the migraines aren't common. And I swear the most infuriating part of Aliens dd is that it is so close to actually being good, but some of the design decisions, especially later in the game, were far too stupid to ignore.
No, you need to apply it so all hits are void
I never had the wits or the endurance to actually play this myself, so this definitely seems like a nice way to see what it's all about.
Is Sunless Skies also on the games list? Its basically an upgrade to Sunless Seas in every way.
It's on the list - I just have more nostalgia for this one and wanted to show it first. I'm not sure what the 'end' of this LP will be - I want at least one captain to reach their goal, I think.
awesome video! ive never played witcher 1 but i love video game challenge videos, so this was right up my alley. your suffering was palpable, and that lingering hit box was bs xD
Great video, and yeah, you should definitely import the save when playing Witcher 2
Im proud of you.
A new alumni of the firebomb academy!! What a joyous day!
Ah, Witcher 1 - the game with the best atmosphere that would really benefit from actual remake in the W3 version of the Red Engine. The combat is just horrendous (before anyone says skill issue, 2 playthroughs on hard - vanilla no cursor, several playthroughs with the White Wolf mod) - to the dev who made it like that, have a very bad day!
To be honest the only thing that was really irritating me about the combat were the random one-shots the enemies got on us from time to time. But there are definitely some issues/things the game doesn't explain well.
@@LunastraVids thats true - after many hours in, for me personally, only 4 signs exist - because you need PhD. in esoterics to understand where Yrden spawns, how much damage it deals and which enemies will be damaged (tried it few times, felt extremely inconsistent, gave up on it - repeat the cycle ad infinium). The oneshots are kind of weird and monster dependant. Who gave You the most problems? For me, kikimoras were awful (insta death on normal/hard if the "pain" modifier procs). On the other hand, its a fair price to pay when we have broken builds (maxed igni and intellect stat with Tawny Owl - 360° aoe that deals 80 base damage, causes "pain" and "burn" effects WHILE being spammable, quick styles being unblockable by anyone - high level quick styles have about 80% stagger even on strength based enemies like vampires). Its a beautiful mess that would benefit from a remake similarly to Gothic.
@@matejbosela9093 I remember also heavily leaning on Signs during my first playthrough - Igni can be insane when upgraded, as you said. Never bothered with Axii or Yrden. For the one-shots Barghests, Drowners, and bandits, particularly dagger wielding ones, gave me the most problems. Kikimores didn't cause too many issues, but that may have been because for this run I just kept Quen up almost constantly and used Devil's Puffballs by the time they showed up. I'm planning to do more challenge runs of this game that'll touch on more build options, but I agree this beautiful mess could really benefit from a remake.
Just a friendly reminder: connect to your Fallen London account for new stories. Assuming you already have one... If not, DO IT. JOIN US.
I made sure the stories were up to date before we started!
I love this Witcher challenge run!
A firebomb academy graduate?
Yep! The Backlogs introduced me to challenge running games, and as far as I know he's never mentioned wanting to run the Witcher series so I figured this was a safe homage.
@@LunastraVids Ah, it was not meant as an admonishment. Just acknowledging the connection, just as you did at the start of the video. On a humorous note, are you still part of the firebomb academy or have you graduated?
@@Nathan_Moor Still part of it - I watch his videos and streams regularly, although not on this account.
I forgot how much Geralt looked like a homunculus in the first game
For 2007 with what I assume was a pretty limited budget it's not too bad, what really gets me are the animations - they are VERY stiff and sometimes characters look off in random directions during conversations.
That and lore reasons of nearly dying from the Path of Grasses trial since the potions were NEVER meant to be used on human, much less mortal children. Flippin' Elder races like high elves rigging the game...
He looks great there, lore friendly Geralt unlike the buff daddy from the 3rd witcher
@@XSilver_WaterX Interesting. I REALLY need to get around to reading the books at some point!
@@LunastraVids Have you ever done mod special challenges? Like beating Oblivion with all fixs and expansions but no armor and any/all spells, I think that the fan made Lunatic class?
1:07:45 "1430 hours waited" "15 hours slept" The life of a prototypical hero
Yeah, I usually play with survival mods so my character actually has to eat and sleep, and I still have to remind myself in the unmodded game just waiting instead of finding a bed is fine lol
@@LunastraVids which survival mods do you use? I've been interested in the idea but can't decide which to implement
@@Encephalophage for Oblivion, Basic Primary Needs. It does require some setup especially if you want to get it working with the HUD Status Bars mod but it works really well! It can also be integrated with certain Vampire and Werewolf mods. Unfortunately I've never found a Hypo/Hyperthermia mod I've liked for Oblivion, so that's about as far as my survival setup goes for it.
30:43 I'm fairly certain that upon initially entering Skingrad, Glarthir will immediately begin following the player until he can inevitably tell them that "We can't talk here!" Could be interesting to do a "Can you beat Oblivion while being followed by Glarthir. Kind of an "Immortal snail" situation. No extended periods waiting anywhere, assuming he will follow you outside of Skingrad's surrounding areas
I would do that if he followed the player beyond the immediate area around Skingrad, but sadly the Wayshrine outside the Derelict Mine is about as far as he'll go. A lot of characters in Fallout 3 and New Vegas *will* follow the player everywhere, but Nerbit has already done runs being chased by them and while they're fun I don't think I could add much to them if I repeated them.
@@LunastraVids Myvryna Arano will begin hunting down the player after you've been released from a jail sentence. I'm not sure how waiting/sleeping/fast traveling interact with her, but according to UESP she will not follow into the Shivering Isles. I think she'll follow into Oblivion Gates, but that would need testing. So at minimum, no Thieves Guild, and if staying true to the challenge of being followed, no Shivering Isles either. It might also void any separate world-space quests as well; Through A Nightmare Darkly, Unexpected Journey, and Boethia. With Paradise being the obvious exception.
I think you did a great job to get this far on legendary(?). It's such an unforgiving game if you are not 100% on all the mechanics. And it's been obvious that you wasn't enjoying it for the last 10 or so videos. The game did give you some difficult rolls and unforgiving situations. And I've loved shouting at my screen, at some of your decisions 😂. I must say though, killing the scylla was peak. But I've really enjoyed your content and this let's play has brought me to your other vids.
I got this game with my 360. Love the pizza golem.
I'm planning to do solo runs of this game where only one party member is allowed to fight, including one with Crazy Pizza! Atsuma will just standby every round since he can't be removed from the party.
