The writer of 'The Sword in the Stone' talks to Robert Robinson at his Alderney home. TH White reveals the connection he sees between physical health and literary skill and explains why he feels he should be able to do everything he writes about, whether it's hunting for food or deep-sea diving.
'The Sword in the Stone' was originally seen by White as a stand-alone novel, but he later wrote three sequels continuing the story of King Arthur and his court. Together, the four instalments are known as 'The Once and Future King'.

Yes lets just criticise everything any one did in the past western civilised world and as if all other non western societies were completely free of misogynists and wrong doers. We are heading in the direction of just about every one past and present being cancelled and that is what the Marxists and the post modernists exactly intend to do which is so hypocritical as we are all human and are not perfect. Lets just celebrate Gauguin for the beautiful paintings that he did and appreciate his wonderful talent.

Robert Robinson. Well respected in his own field. He did some wonderful book programmes in the past. And I like his confrontational style of interviewing - and he's interviewed some of the greats.

What a cool guy, but very comical when he tries to act like he isn’t rich as the mountains
White's financial history is actually a bit of a rollercoaster. He couldnt handle money well and spent it as fast as he got it which resulted in long periods of relativ poverty. It was only with the Disney Movie that he became properly wealthy.

A very complex character who died at the tragically young age of 57.
Gauguin took 13 something year old girls, raped them, impregnated them and gave them syfilis.... And of course he knew this behaviour was not acceptable en Europe, so he went to the colonies where he could do that with natives girls. This isna fact and this is all I can see when I see these paintings. And he definetly didn't respect these girls/women.
The interviewer is very hard on ol H.D.😆 I like this kind of confrontational style of interview. I think it respects the subject by challenging him

BBC Monitor 1959 T. H. White in Alderney 0757am 9.4.24 monitor seems like a decent show. don't we have interesting folk in the UK, anymore? being decent is quite correct. and there are probably 5 people in the whole of the UK who could qualify for that tagline. jeeez... he looked old for his age. and writing for himself was certainly where old johnny marr culled said sentiment re: his own oeuvre.
