There is no wage gap. If there were, any woman working in any company that is getting paid less that someone who is male WORKING EQUIVALENT HOURS, they would have a lawsuit and bankrupt the business. The way they create this false statistical narritive is that they don't mention that they are not calculating wage per hour, nor the fact that men naturally are more inclined to work overtime, nor are they factoring in maternity leave, shorter professional career (on average) etc. Obviously one will make less (over their entire career) if they work less hours.

If Latina women (or anyone) want a higher wage. Stop accepting low paying jobs. If a job does not pay a reasonable rate, then don't apply or accept. Obviously, know what the market rate is for your skillset, and know when you need to invest in your skills to increase your wage potential. People need to stop thinking like employees. It is not your employer's responsibility to pay you enough. It is their perogative to get the best value for their money. If it was legal to own slaves, none of us would get paid. That's the nature of business. Whether that should change is another conversation. If you want to make more money, stop depending on your employer's good will and build your own business. Then your earning potential is limitless. Being employed and being a business owner has it's pros and cons, you need to figure out what your goals are and what works for you. Also, this entire short is misleading. Chosen occupations, education level, skillset, citizen vs. Migrant, etc, these details were not mentioned. As I'm sure if you did the same statistics for Asian women vs. Caucasian women you would find a major wage gap between the two, as Asians are collectively the wealthiest ethnic group in the US. This is why they are never mentioned in studies like this, as they are considered the "Inconvenient Minority."

It could improve if women were prepared to work longer hours, do more difficult and uncomfortable jobs, be more ambitious and focus less on their social/family/work-life balance priorities - I see too many of my female colleagues running their lives from work. And they seem interested in parttime work and less well-paid professions/occupations. It is illegal to pay different rates for the same work at the same level - so the differences are actually cultural. Personally, I think women are right to work less hard, be less (professionally) ambitious, run their lives from home - men are too work-focused. But we must acknowledge that lower output must go hand-in-hand with lower pay, less well-paid occupations.....

The wage gap is a myth.

The gender pay gap is a myth. These "studies" dont control for hours worked, time in position or other basic factors that explain away all of the supposed "gap". Imagine doing a wage study and not accounting for hours worked 😆
