Our family car just turned one year, and in thar period of time we have driven 25000 km, so I think it's time to asses the mechanical parts, especially the brakes and suspension. In this video we go through how to validate that the P0420 i correct, simply by monitoring the post cat. 02-sensor. First I go through the theory and then a worked example.       Hi. Thanks for writing😇. It is a low budget iron sports exhaust, not stainless steel or anything fancy. However, only fitting the rear exhaust made no change to the sound, not untill the exhaust header was installed👍😎🎵. /Simon

      @@autofokusDanmark Thank you for your "Swift" reply 😅 Is it an Ulter Sport brand muffler? If yes, that's great feedback since i was looking forward to buy one used. Also Iron, not stainless steel version. I'm also curious on what you did with the O2 sensors for this new cat, and also how the complete exhaust system works from under the car. I'm assuming that the O2 sensors were deleted and the ECU reprogrammed so it does not acknowledge the cat? Just guessing. Thank you and keep up the great work!

      @@joaocandeias yes, that was the one!! Forgot the name😂. You can easily just fit the post cat 02-sensor. The ECU barely notices the “wrong” signal. You might get a MIL after 1000 km though. So now it is up to your morality, if you want to fit a cat😂. Best of luck my friend.

    Hej Simon. Har set en del af dine videoer. De er rigtige gode. Fandt lige din video omkring forscan. Kender du et lignende software man kan bruge på en Suzuki swift. Ville gerne ændre måden den låser dørene op samt slå auto stop fra. Kan se forstand mest er brugt til Ford.

      Hej igen Kenneth :) Fedt du surfer rundt på kanalen, der er efterhånden også en del videoer :) Jeg ved ikke om der er et specielt stykke software til Suzuki a la FORscan til Ford. Min erfaring er, at Suzukier kan være lidt svære at læse. Min ICarsoft CR MAX kunne fx. ikke læse alle modulerne på min Swift, og heller ikke SX4. TIlgengæld kan min noget dyrere Topdon godt. Så hvis du kender en med en god tester, så kan han evt. kode din dørlås. Ikke megen hjælp, desværre :)

      @@autofokusDanmark tak for din besked. Læste godt du havde problemer med at læse alle moduler på din swift. Men jeg bruger delphi, wow og autocom. Har aldrig haft problemer med at udlæse fejl på alle moduler. Har jo hjulpet folk med Toyota Renault, Skoda, dacia og bmw. Er altid et af de tre software der virker. Især delphi er jeg glad for.

      @@kennethkristensen5537 Jeg var faktisk meget tæt på at købe Delphi 150 (fake godt nok). Har kun hørt godt om den. Sjovt nok, har jeg læst på flere forums, at nogle af Suzukierne kan være svære at læse. Du har faktisk helt ret, en tester er ikke nok. Jeg har ligeledes flere forskellige, godt de fleste ikke koster så meget.

    Ide til fremtidig video omkring canbus. Der kunne du fortælle om de to termineringsmodstande på hver 110 ohm. Som sidder parrallel. Så når man måler på can-High og can-low. Med en ohm meter måler du ca 60 ohm. Hvis du måler “OL “ har du en knækket ledning. Eller virkelig dårlig forbindelse. En måling på under 60 så har du en kortslutning af de to kanaler. Alle modstands målinger skal selvfølgelig udføres i spændingsløs tilstand. Blot en ide.

    The systems using hall effect sensor are configured differently i n automobile. You need to have the diagram and know if the signal would be a generated one or modified voltage. On ignition, test voltage on each of the lines and if possible compare it with a similar system. Some may have battery voltage on he supply line, about 10v on the signal line and 0v the ground line. So you need to be so sure of the system you are working on, it will even help during bench testing of the sensor.

      Hi there. Valid point you make. Actually on my Suzuki Swift the vehicle speed signal is a “hall signal” transmitted to the power steering control unit from the ecu, but infact it is a pwm-signal. But the original speed signal is from a hall sensor. In the video this particular sensor is also a hall element sensor. Thanks again for coming with your good comment! /Simon

      Hi there. Sorry I don’t. But it is very easy, the missing wire is the ground. So the other two are supply and signal. The two wire hall sensor is grounded through the sensor itself. /Simon

      @@autofokusDanmark thanks for replying. I tried to get a waveform on bench but no luck. I supplied expected voltage as suggested by factory service manual (8.95V) and the sensor pulls .395Amps but I still can't get a waveform 🥺 I used a food mixer as a reluctor wheel😅 even tried taping a magnet.

    Try a proper cold air intake like the Simota. They will actually deliver performance gains, as they aren't pulling in hot engine bay air like yours is.

      I actually fitted a heat blanket which shields off the engine heat (as good as it can). But I agree with you, it is a better solution. Thanks for commenting. /Simon

    I have a 2007 ZC31S 104k miles, like yours. I also did a lot of work to bring this car back to life after 17 years of neglect! Thank you so much for sharing the info in your videos, it's so helpful, particularly sharing the gains you had with the tune, 4/2/1 header and dyno tune, and the disassembly of the steering rack (I think my bushings are shot too - slight play). Can I ask, did you tune the car yourself? I am curious if it's possible to tune my car with OBD software at home using your settings of Lambda 0.9 13:1 and ignition advance +8 degrees? I cannot find a tuning garage near that will do the work on a dyno. Can I also ask, is the steering generally heavier than most other cars in the Swift? Many thanks!

      HI .Thanks for writing to me. Sound like we're going through the same stuff with our old cars :) You can't remap the ECU through the OBD-port. You need to take the ECU out and connect it directly to the tuning tool. In order to do the tuning you need a "mappack" so you can access the dirrerent maps, such as lambda, ignition, MAF-scaling ect. If you don't have the hard- and software to do this, then it is impossible for you to do that. Regarding the ignition, I reccomend you do it in steps of 2 degrees at at time, just to ensure no knock actiivity occurs. Best of luck :) Simon

      On some cars it can. But the service functions does not fit all cars, and that you see on many scan tools.

    The diode you're describing is called a "snubber diode" and is used in solenoid circuits to protect the driver electronics from the spike (which is called "flyback"). This high voltage happens for exactly the reason you describe: The collapsing magnetic field of the solenoid induces a current in the coil that is inverse to the change in magnetic field. Since there is effectively zero load on this coil, the voltage "flies up". The diode only conducts in one direction (except for the leakage current) and "snubs" this flyback voltage.

    Hello, I would like to thank you for sharing this valuable information. regarding the vehicle speed sensor signal in this case. For further clarification, can I take a wire with the signal from the brake control (ABS/ESP) directly to the power steering control (EPS)? In this case, will the signal reach the steering control, and will there be any issues with the communication process? Just to confirm.

      The speed signal from the ECU to the EPS is a PWM-signal, basicly a "fake" speed signal. The ECU recieves a CAN-BUS speed signal from the ABS-control unit, which get the speed signal from a hall sensor (ABS sensor). This means that the signal not nessesarely are the same, even though I think the ECU pwm-signal copies the original speed signal. Nevertheless I can't confirm it, but give at go :)

      Thanks for you comment🙂. Ideally you want a reading as close to zero ohm as possible 0,5 Ohm or less. Voltage drop should be around 0,1 V ideally. /Simon

    Vi har haft tandstangen skilt ad for at skifte bøsning og den er blvet smurt. Efter vi har samlet den og fået bilen ud og køre igen drejer den kun venstre af sig selv næsten. Er der et nul punkt på den nede i tandstangen som den skal stå på.. ellers har du ik en facebook side får at jeg kan komme i kontankt med dig

    So how can I get this to read the electronic throttle sensor values, throttle values sensor 1 and 2

      HI. It depends on the ECU of the car. All the live date available on a scan tool is determined by the manufacturer, and the data is known as "PID". But is the manufacturer has not made the specific PID available, then the scan tool can't show it. /Simon

      It's a Vw transporter 2010. Other scan tools can find this data, but I can't get this scan tool to find it.

      @@mads501010 bad ECU 😂. The vehicle speed signal was not transmitted.

    From my experience, it's not so much the flow of the air filter,,,it's more the intake air temp that needs to be monitored...just slapping on the hot air intake makes you lose power....direct cooler air and the car runs way better....the 3to 4000 rpm are needs timing advance to get rid of that flat spot,and that alone will make the car a lot better to drive

    I bought this for my Mercedes 2010 c-class W204 with om651 engine. It helped me to find out that I needed to replace the ABS sensor-rings on first the right aft wheel, then on the left. It also helped me to find that I needed to replace the DPF differential pressure sensor. But it failed me when I needed to replace the automatic transmission fluid. You need to know the temperature of the oil then. But unfortunately there is NO LIVE DATA from the Transmission Control Unit!!!!!! Can you imagine how disappointed I was???

      @@autofokusDanmark But, this is the 722.6 transmission, used on many mercedes-models, and I have seen others reading e.g. the oil-temperature. And the two rpm sensors. And wanted and actual gear-setting.... I did manage to read the temp by using a temperature-gun, however. Pointing it at the bottom pan. I think its a bug. Many of the other controllers have live data.

      @@autofokusDanmark In this video they use a iCarsoft i980 to read the temp of a 722.6 transmission. I have the 722.6 transmission too. ruclips.net/video/xe7Bt53r4yk/видео.html So, in my opinion it is either a bug, or they left it out on purpose.....

I have the 722.6 transmission too, in our year 2010 Mercedes C-class w204. ruclips.net/video/xe7Bt53r4yk/видео.html Strange isnt it, that the i980 can read everything from the TCM of that 722.6

    Great channel, I have exactly the same car for the last 10 years , love it, but it drives me mad now as I can’t find where the clunking noise come from🤦🏻‍♂️, changed control arms with all the bushings and ball bearings, changed the drop links , strut mounts and the noise is still there, so my suspicion now is a steering rack , if you have any ideas please let me know, and thank you for your videos 🤝🏻

      @audriulis I'm searching for little noises on my 07 zc31s as well...the caliper pins seem to be worn on mine,,and that rattles when I hit ruts in the road...if I hold the brakes while on the rough surface, the noise goes away

      @@brucksport not sure if it helps, but I found adding some sticky backed foam pads to the bonnet contact points (little black rubber bungs) eliminated the low rev rattle I had. It was the bonnet rattling on the worn down stops! 😅

I started out the channel in my native language two years ago, but gradually converted to english since not many in Denmark watched my videoes LOL.
