This is such a beautiful discussion. The lie I have believed is that for a marriage to work, there needs to be close to 100% compatibility. I’m currently dating this amazing man but seeing differences has been scary because of this limited belief. Yes to having established core values and yes to differences being a blessing. Please pray for me in this process of dating with the intention of marriage.

As a part of the pre engagement counseling, I'd suggest a divorce lawyer (in addition to people that know you both). That lawyer will have a lot of wisdom as to why marriages succeed/fail, and I would value that advice highly. A girl isn't getting a ring from me without that.

I know that y'all said wait a whole year before getting engaged but what about if the person is autistic and they are brutally honest and truthful about themselves and their past? Does the rule still apply? If you're asking the tough questions early on in dating and seeking God's discernment and wisdom before you start dating a d continue to do so through the dating process, do you still have to wait a full year? I've seen tons and tons of videos about Christian couples who got married after anywhere between 3 months all the way up to a year. I don't understand how you can put that timeline on everyone when we don't know what God truly has planned for His children.

Honestly this video is just like all the others. All they want to do is bash men for being single and not fitting into the perfect man cookie cutter. Maybe we need to ask the questions; Are men just done with dating? Are men tired of getting shot down constantly with no reason behind it? You would think if the woman referred to in the video were looking for the Godly men I know there wouldn't be a problem.

So I got a question. I’m someone who has been trying to build myself a life through businesses over the past 10 years. Last few years have been really rough with finances and I’ve accumulated some credit card debt and some IRS debt. Does that make me a Peter Pan and not ready to date? It’s kind of hard to hear that. It makes it seem like you have to be completely absolutely perfect to be ready? I’m 30 years of age, have a business, yes some debt, own a house. Does that make me not ready?

I loved her on American idol and she got to meet Tori Kelly (one of my dream celebrity to meet). I relate to being too much for some and not enough for other people, but as I get older I am not really as concerned about that. “Peter Pan is giving boy in man’s body no cap.” 😂 This was super refreshing episode and to see a single person carry such confidence in their singleness was so encouraging. And it is not because Madison has it all figured out and doesn’t ever lack confidence at times; rather, it is just the Lord and also how she has thought through and worked through it just from her time on American Idol to now is such growth.

I truly learned from and appreciated your first interview with Heart of Dating. It was refreshing and a great encouragement for Christian women who believe God has called them to singleness and if not, to make the most of being single while single. I pray you continue following the Lord Jesus Christ as HE leads you. It's great to have people in our lives who love us and want to offer advice and may feel led to do so, but along with the advice, it's important to go back to God and make sure the advice given is of Him. Praying for you Tara Leigh and thank you for all you do for the body of Christ.

This was a huge fail. As someone said below, virginity is not an insecurity. Stop with the virgin-shaming and giving men and women the message that "it's no big deal". Sin has consequences, and virgins wanting to marry other virgins is perfectly fine

Great analysis. My policy is easy. No opposite sex friends when in a committed relationship unless it’s a friend of the couple. And especially if there is romantic/sexual interest from one or both of the people, absolutely not. Statistically, about 80% of cheating happens with people we know including the next door neighbor and opposite sex friends. Biology is what it is. There’s no hack for it. Beta men play female friends forever waiting for their chance. Many women are oblivious to the reality that most men are interested in female friends only because they are attracted to them.

Remember God has a purpose with everything he lets us go through, just trust it is for good , he wants to do something in you let him

Thank you for sharing your story of pain with us all. I know that grief doesn’t go away, it just changes with us as we grow and age. I’m just gonna be transparent here. I was recently battling with trusting God through the pain and sorrow when I found I was even getting jealous when He would answer others prayers. I had to give myself a reality check and remind myself to be satisfied in Him and His plan, not satisfied in my own. I know God answers my prayers, but sometimes the answer is a “not now” or “no”. I know my God has saved and blessed me before, so I can trust He will do it again. So, now I’m choosing to believe and trust in His plan, even if the answer could be “not now” or “no”. 🤍🤍
