Such a timely episode for me as this just happened to me. I'm 42 years old and single and was set up with a guy I went to high school with who I haven't seen in 20 years. I was attracted to him and he had everything I was looking for and I was so excited about it. We hung out for the 4th time and I was so convicted after that date that I couldn't be with him...I can't even point to one particular thing but all I know was I had the ICK almost the whole time we hung out. I could not get passed it!

The magic system in LOTR and the magic system in harry potter are worlds apart, not even synonymous other than the term magic, which Tolkien would not have all agreed would be the same type of magic that harry potter had. Rings of Power is an abomination and an affront to Tolkien's work; it misuses and breaks many established lore from the six books of the lord of the rings along with the Silmarillion and the unfinished tales.

If you desire having children, why not try adoption or fostering? I think that would be a great avenue to pour love on children and share the Good News with them. Of course pray about it first. I personally would love foster or adopt whether or not I get married.

But some people really are just not stimulating to interact with. I am accustomed to men I can have great conversations with about a variety of topics. Guys I don't have to pull the words out of or carry the conversation are more compatible with me. I like men who are inquisitive and will ask me questions about myself and genuinely want to know things. It has nothing to do with dating men who bring drama to the relationship. It's actually the opposite. Dating men who bring knowledge to the relationship and inspire you to be better is amazing! Once you experience that, you don't want dry, dull, and boring. I want someone who has the same drive as me to do things like travel, going on weekend trips or trying something new. I idea of a boring man being healthy for you is ridiculous. If you want boring then go for it. But don't advertise the notion that it's the better option. Boring is relative.

Start small fellas. Don’t take someone you barely know to an expensive place. Save your money before you pay a large bill for some person you barely know. Give accordingly. If she gives you modest and conservative vibes. Then you can move the threshold as you go.

Loved this, and I’m becoming a big fan of you guys! Listening to a ton of your old episodes over the last month. I made the decision when I was young not to kiss until becoming engaged. Wanting to keep from prematurely progressing the relationship through early physical engagement, and also keep kissing as something more exclusive to honor my (Lord willing) future spouse. Not opposed to those who do, just advise people to know themselves and put barriers if needed to remain above reproach in purity.

It can be surprising, but mountainous areas are very prone to flash flooding during heavy rain, because storm drains overflow and small streams and river levels rise so rapidly. We have locally (Minnesota) had prairie towns ten feet underwater due to flash flooding as a result of local geography. I imagine the eastern foothills of the Appalachians are the same. Plus, there's long-term travel issues from landslides destroying major road and rail routes that in mountainous terrain means the mountains have to be blasted to rebuild the roads, which can take years.

I'm in closed singleness. I no longer seek any type of relationship. I am content being single, satisfied with the freedom this affords me, and able to focus on me and the Lord exclusively. I am at peace that God wants me to remain permanently unmarried. When I think back to the attempts I made trying to date, I remember being absolutely miserable. This is what God wants for me, what I want for me, and affirmed in the Scriptures.

70 percent female. 30 percent male. I’m out. Lol. I’ve prayed 20 years for a godly mate and looked and looked. God help me find one with character who loves me. At this point that’s even hard.

No cheating . Adultery is a sin that God doesn’t look at and say we are supposed to stay . He gives us the choice to leave when it’s adultery. Jesus says the is no way around it you can divorce if adultery is committed. If someone in the covenant lied down with another they are now one as well . Proverbs 6:32 , Hebrews 13:4 , Leviticus 20:10 , Matthew 5:27 -28 . These are of importance !

I am all for a prenup. Most do not go into marriage with the indent to get divorced, and yet it happens all the time. As someone who has seen family members get divorced because the partner becomes a bad alcoholic, it is so important to have asset protection, and make sure that you as a partner are getting enough money or assets in the event of a divorce. Like for example, let’s say it’s if get divorced within a 10 year time frame they don’t get any land acreage that you might have. But if divorce happens later maybe they get 1/4 acre to build on, sell, or put something on that they could rent out if they don’t want to live there. And then a certain amount of money. There should be stipulations for cheating, and so on, as well as defining what cheating means in that marriage to those in it. We have family land that all my immediate family is on. So say I get married and then later divorced, there are stipulations already in place that they can’t have any of that land. I would think it would be different with just one person. Regardless, if you end up being the victim of a bad marriage where it isn’t your fault you could be screwed without proper protection and have to start with little later in life

If one is 74 and the other is 69 both want to leave money or assests to their children and both tend to be very generous people, one has more to lose than the other. It can be tricky. Some older people just live in sin because of finances. So sad.

love this ! my hot take on intercultural marriages: I have been with my latino fiancé for 2 years, it takes both parties willing to be understanding and surrender what they know of their cultural background, and not judging the baseline differences. Both parties need to adapt to the other in grace, submit the process to God, and actively seek to understand. I say intercultural relationships really only work when you both are walking in God's purpose and mission for your life, and are willing to be humbled multiple times ! I would argue that Gerson and I have better communication than couples of the same first language because we naturally clarify the differences, intenses, and tones of words, whereas in a relationship fo the same culture one would assume things more easily.

Like JJ, my stance is a bit stronger against opposite-gender friendship. One reason is because I think it is wise to create habits in your singleness that you'd like to carry into marriage. In this context, I don't think its wise to have 1:1 hangouts with the opposite gender when married, so why would I do that when single? If I really desire to hang out with them alone, why not marry them (as you mentioned)? And if I don't want to marry them but enjoy their humor or something, I can hang out in a group. Similarly, my rule for myself is to have a relationship with my guy friends where, if I were to start dating or become married to someone, I wouldn't have to change that relationship with my friend. (I was typing this just as JJ started saying it haha!) So, if a guy friend and I are meeting 1:1, I wouldn't want to contunue doing that when dating someone else. Its respectful of the friend to not have to change the relationship when I date and it provides boundaries so we don't become emotionally attached or develop a crush. Furthermore, as you both said, if someone has more opposite-gender friendships, I see that as a red flag. As I've grown in maturity and in my relationship with God, I've realized how important it is to have fellowship with your same-sex friends, to be vulnerable, to hold one another accountable, to uplife and encourage one another, etc. Same -sex Christian friendships can (and should) get very deep as we pursue Christ together, but to do those things with a friend of the opposite sex is crossing a spiritual and emotional boundary. Oftentimes, like Kate admitted, if you have very close opposite-gender friends you're either thinking "maybe I could date them" and/or you're just mature. Be content in having deep, close friends of the same gender and friends of the opposite gender who you meet up in a group, occasionally check in with, and have a light-hearted, less-deep friendship. Friendships of the opposite gender are important for perspective and growth, but shouldn't be nearly as deep as your same-gender friends.
