Очень недооценённый певец. ! От природы имел сильный, красиво обрамлённый тембром голос. Обладал хорошей техникой и тёмной плотной окрасом, что придавало ему огромный шарм. Есть записи, где его исполнение напоминало Bastianini , но это только подражание. У Маффео был свой, не менее интересный и свой уникальный голос , свойственный только ему.!😊

Difficile la scelta.....ma la voce di del Monaco he più piena.

Para cualquier soprano el rol de abigail es una verdadera travesia en plena tormenta. Un endiablado entrecijo de abstaculos. Para la Callas es un simple paseo por el campo. Su tecnica y ese instrumento demoledor le permite pasar sin ninguna dificultad por totos los pasajes del aria. Pasa de la voz de cabeza a la de mascara con una sutileza y facilidad increïbles. No desafora la voz ni tiene que aligerarla para llegar al regristro agudo. Desde la mismisima Estreponni este rol fue un verdadero suicidio vocal. La Callas a sido y sera la unica capaz de contarlo tal y como esta escrito. Cada nota, cada escala cada pasaje. Escuchar el abigail de la callas es la master clas de canto mejor. Lastima que la grabacion no es del todo buena y apesar de la digitalizacion el sonido en algunos momentos no defectuoso. No puedo imaginar como habria sido escucharla ese dia en directo. Si ya en grabacion se eriza la piel.

Corelli didn't crack, but tried to make, this time unsuccessfully, the diminuendo written by Verdi in that last note of Celeste Aida (B flat). That is a diminuendo few tenors can do (even less so live). He had done it on previous occasions receiving the ovation of the audience. Didn't work this time though. Fake tenor , Fake baritone !

Maragliano might not have the beauty of tone of some first rate sopranos, but she's really a great lirico-spinto or even soprano dramatico.

Ramey was a true coloratura bass who could match the fioritura and coloratura of any of the sopranos and mezzos he sang with and demonstrated what true bel canto means. I saw him several times in Rossini, Mozart, Bellin and Verdi roles.

BaroneVitellioScarpia1..... Quite a revelation here: Jussi Bjorling's last complete opera before his untimely death ,at 49....still in great voice. The pleasant surprise here, is the baritone, Hugo Hasslom...a splendid baritone, with the breathe control to sing " Il Balen..." a notoriously tough aria....I remember his " Michaele" in a 1956 Swedish TV production of Puccini's Il Tabarro" , singing " Nula ...Silencio" to great effect. Does there exist a recording of him singing Baron Scarpia, in a production of Puccini's Tosca?....he would be perfectly cast.
