Revving it up to 3k rpm towards the end of the video. Smoke you see on overrun is (I believe) black, from it being very rich while it warms up. These get up to operating temp in less than 5 minutes anyway, as long as the thermostat is working properly.

Stock tyre sizes, bone stock car. Surprisingly good tyres in the wet, not so much on standing water, but rather impressive overall, especially considering their tread pattern.

1993 JDM Rev2 NA tintop, without ABS. Car is bone stock! Track is Bedford Autodrome GT circuit. Certainly not the ideal car for a novice, but for someone who knows what they're doing, it's about as fun as it gets!!!

    Kind of a mix between a powerslide and drift, but very nice at all. A stage 2 tuning with some better conditions will make a drift beast from that 530d

    I'm fairly certain that your car is a Rev 2 as it's from 1993 so should have the upgrades from factory that prevent the snap oversteer that the original cars suffered from. Still, if you dont know what you are doing you will still come a cropper in any rwd mid engined car.

      You're absolutely right. The point of this video is to show that if you are willing to commit and learn (in a safe environment), you can easily tame these lovely old cars, despite their questionable reputation in the handling department. Even if it was a Rev1, I'm sure one would get accustomed to the car's idiosyncrasies, eventually. I'd actually love to drive a stock Rev1 to see the differences to mine, and I'm sure it would be a hoot!

    Nice grip limit control. The car does seem to lack mechanical grip, though I'm sure you're helping it ;-) A set of Nankang NS-2R would provide better wet and dry grip if/when you want it.

      Thank you :) I was actually trying to be very conservative, knowing the marshalls really don't like drifting on that particular track. The tyres on this are nearly 10 years old, which explains the lack of grip, but was only the 1st time on the track in it, so wanted to get a taste anyway. NS-2Rs are great indeed, but the rear tyres are an odd size and can only get Kumho V70As, which I will be, very soon!
