You just saved my husbands glasses, he couldn't see and I had to fix them LOL thank you so much this helped me.
Wow.. Thats very helpful.. Thank you🙂
Thank you for posting this 🎉🎉🎉🎉
insurance expired Oct 10, glass fell out Oct 15. SO GLAD I FOUND THIS TUTORIAL! once I had the right gage line, this was a piece of cake! thank you!!
Great detailed video, one of my ear piece is loose and I like to fix my things, i came across this video, looks like am going to fix it myself, doesn't look hard, I was looking to buy another pair of glasses but this one's cost me 600bucks, so, am going to give it a try, i think the bushing piece is cracked, I'll get the items, and will come back to watch this video again, thank you, very well detail video, you are helping people in this hard times.
Oh thanks, didn't know you can bend the bridge. I need to adjust it because the nosepad hurt my nose
A lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for video!!
Can you adjust the nose bridge on the acetate frames? (bend them inward to be smaller)
Hello there, yes, you can definitely gently curve the bridge into tighter curb to make the frame more snug. The only downside of doing this is you slightly change the angle through which you view through your lenses, and the adjustment often doesn't last very long, which is why it is better to bend the corners at each end of the face front. But tested out and see what works for you!
Awesome informative video I feel confident in replacing mine now
What about the string that goes in the top of the lens? The one you mention that is half in and half out of the frame? How do you or do you need to replace that?
Hello there, that string is called a figure 8. It can't be substituted for something else so it must be purchased from a specialty store. If your lens won't stay in at all, then it may need to be replaced, but if your lens stays in when you've replaced the wire you don't need to worry about it.
Be careful with the hair dryer, I ruined my transition lenses 😢
I broke a temple piece after moving. So I went into a new optical place that sold Silloette, and they said they would not repair or replaace my frames because they would not be liable for scratches on my existing lenses. I ran from there and decided to do it myself. Thanks for this help. I used an old pair of glasses and magnifier light after buying a repair kit on Amazon for $40 (has pins, clippers, punch, and press...) and a replacement frame on Ebay. The price of the frames varied but I managed a new one for $120 there. One thing I would recommend would be to just use masking tape over the lenses in the area you put the metal tools. Also do not put the broken temple piece near the lenses.
Thank you for the video. My son wears frameless glasses, and he broke them while playing soccer. I went to Costco Vision to repair and they said they cannot fix it. Went to local repair shop and they said they can't fix it either. The lady at the local shop was showing me similar Silhoettes fames worth $600 :). I could not believe it. I decided I will look for repair options on google and I am glad I found your video. I was able to remove the broken frame from lenses and ordered replacement parts, tools on amazon and I am sure I will be able to fix it. Thanks again.
has it been fixed? is it swissflex frames? lol
excellent video. Very practical to follow and do at home. Do you have any tips on widening built in nasal pad such as on a Ray-Ban Wayfarer? Thanks.
Soo essentially it was a waste to fix other side. Point of this was? Frame is still garbage then🤔
I love you.
Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Link to machine please❤
Thank you so much❤
To those that have done this with plastic frames - do frames bend easily with some heat? I haven't tried yet but it seems like it would almost easily break or crack
I hate half frame glasses
Oh my god you just saved my favorite pair of glasses Insane that the clinic that promised to repair them if they get damaged told me that they only replace glasses, and that my model and everything similar to it was no longer being produced. I accidentally napped with my glasses on and woke up with the wire and lens out, I thought my glasses were toast! Can't believe my old tackle box was better equipped to fix glasses than my best eye clinic. Thank you so much for making this video 😁
Is there any room for error in doing this, or is it an easy fix by an optometrist with at least 15 years of experience? Thanks in advance.
I’m having issues “threading” the wire to stay to my lens.
@@StevenBHorrorFan when you're threading your lens back into the wire, you have to make sure that the wire ends up inside the groove of the lens. It is easiest to do this from the temporal corner and then threading it towards the nasal corner. To do this, I typically use a thin piece of plastic, like one of those plastic wire that they sometimes use to wrap around boxes. If you have been able to thread it from side to side and the thread in the groove, and the lens still won't stay, then your thread is somehow too long and you'll have to undo one side pull it out a little tighter, and then put it back in. I hope this helps.
@@eyetalk1485 I realized I inserted the wire through the bottom hole on the wrong side lol. I now know to start pulling the wire in the bottom hole inward, then pull the wire through the top hole, from outside in. I got the wire somewhat in the groove of the lens, but when I started cutting excess wire, it came loose again 😂. I got the hang of it though so with practice I’m sure I can get it just right. Thanks for your help!
Please help me, I am an African black citizen hoe broke the my glasses. Some fat guy sat on it pleases ficks it.
Not for progressive!
Thank You!
I got my first pair and they gave me extra stuff to fix it if mine break me for both so glad I can be done at home
my frame has one hole for the wire on each side. what do I do?
Sorry to respond so late, technically you would need a special wire with a little stopper at the end. However, you can usually make this happen with your wire if you melted a little with a lighter at the very end, but be careful not to burn it too much. Once the end is melted a little if it creates a big bulb enough not to go through your whole great, if not, you can shape the melted plastic while it still hot to become a stopper. I hope this helps, good luck!
heyy thank you for this video but the problem with my glasses is a little different. the thing is the i think i sat o the corner of my glasses and the joint of the temple and the lens is crooked. it is tight so i cant move it but it doesn't sit right on my face and keeps bothering me. is there anyway to fix this without breaking anything.
Sorry to respond so late, I'm assuming you're frame is made of metal, if it's a regular type of metal and not a memory metal you should be able to bend it back. This may require a lot of force, and there is always a chance of snapping the material. If you were going to try to bend it, I recommend using two pliers and putting something soft in between the plier and the frame, as not to scratch the finish. If your frame is very thin, this may be hard to do either way, but it's probably the only way to straighten it out. Good luck.
@@eyetalk1485 it isnt metal im sure its a type of plastic
Man I wish my only problem was a missing screw. My entire hinge snapped so half of it is in the front part and the other half is deep inside the temple
1:33 I put super glue on the piece and put back in the leg. Worked just fine!
The holes in my lenses are too small. Should I enlarge them or Gorilla Glue the bridge?
great informations
Most eyeglass chains won't work on rimless glasses because if they break them they have to replace them. It's not that difficult to do yourself, especially with this video to guide you. I did it with the tools in my garage on a pair of older lenses, but ideally it's best to buy a repair kit to do it right. Just remember to protect your lenses from getting scratched by the tools. All parts and tools you need are readily available on ebay, Amazon, etc.
got it! Thanks mom!
The real problem for me is, I need my glasses to see well enough to fix the frame. Cheapy pair of readers did the trick
You made it look so simple, decided to give it a try. The hardest part was finding the right fishing pole to find some line that was a good match. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video.
That's what I am dealing with right now. My husband sat on his glasses during a visit to rural England. We can only find 0.3 mm fishing line - is that sufficient thickness? The original one looks somewhat thicker, and I have seen comments that it needs to be 0.4-0.45. However, in one of the responses @eyetalk1485 said 20lbs was a good fit, and that's what the 0.3 mm was. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thank you!
thank you
Perfect explanation! Thanks of saving me $45 at the repair shop!
Very nice video, translating truely.
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Can I use steam from a tea pot?
This is brilliant!
could you please make a step by step tutorial on how to change the nails color from violet to dark red instantly?
How do you bend a metal frame like the plastic frame to fit the face
How do I know what size compression sleeves to use ? Thank you.
I wanted to leave a comment and thank you so much for making this video. I broke the wire on my glasses yesterday, and it's the only pair I have and can't really afford to get new glasses. This video helped me fix my glasses. It worked perfectly! Thank you so much!
Just like right now I love your videos bye
