What cute useful ideas for jewelry, clothing, etc. Thanks for sharing. Have you ever studied the analogy given with butterflies and what Jesus teaches us? Great Golden Nugget!
Thank you, Betty! I don't think I have seen that exact scripture, but I know Jesys transforms us like the butterfly. This has been one of my symbols the last few years 😀
What about a board book? I was thinking of using one for this round. What do you think?
Oh yeah ... that would be great!

Thank you @MyArtfulCrafts! I love doing this! And this project is helping me thin out my cardstock stash LOL
OK so . . . I always love looking at what others create. I have about 917 snippet rolls that I created for fun. Apparently I didn't know what to do with the finished pieces, so, I stuck them in a box and forgot about them. Your video, that I happened upon, has re-ignited the passion to create again. BUT WAIT. What do I do with them ALL when I am finished!! Your work is so animated, quirky, cheerful, creative . . . and the list goes on. WaaaaY fun *LOVE* it
Thank you so much, Gretchen! 917 ... that is so cool! I feel behind now LOL I think it depends on what your purpose is in them, techniques, etc. Some snippet rolls I make purely for fun ... to have pretty eye-candy to look at. My prettier ones I was going to stitch togeter into one long snippet rooll, so I have something pretty to look at for inspiration when I don't feel creative. Others I make intentionally to use up scraps and I can slice and dice those into various sections and I use in my junk journals for embellishmnts, pockets, page borders, belly bands, etc.
@@KarenBrattyPants thanks for getting back to me Karen! For the last 25 yrs. I have had a very small greeting card business. 917 was an exaggeration however, I do have many. I cut them up and use them on my cards. What I really *should* do is beef up my card business so that I have space to create more. I'm an old artist (72 y.o.) that has never thrown a scrap of fabric away, ever. I have trash bags full of goodies ~ I just love the medium. I am an abstract artist and sell some work, but my heart (right now) longs for the dimention that scraps of lace, gauze, threads, old jewelry etc etc. creates. I am sure you understand the "need", it just never goes away. Create, create, create! I live in Utah ~ wish we were closer ! ! !
@@GretchenlKlein Ahhh yes ... I totally relate to not being able to throw those scraps away and loving all the layers! I am really drawn to making things from scraps, so I totally get it!
I love snippets
Thank you! I love making them :)
I just made first 2 snippet rolls too. Did you cover the backside? I am trying to decide if to do and how.
Just saw your comment, @jamieomahen2656 - - so glad you tried some snippet rolls :) I do a combo of machine stitching and hand stitching on mine ... and I like texture and the quilted feel, so I had thin muslin on the back, a little quilt batting in the midde and then I covered with my scrap fabrics. I machine stitched edges and then did slow-stitching through all that. Because I was sending them out for a swap, I then added a second thin backing to cove messy stitching and just added one more row of machine stitching long the outside edges to hold it on good ... but there was spot gluing in the middle. :)
Love ❤ Love ❤ Love!!! Tell me more about swapping these…I’ve made a few snippet rolls this summer but I might be interested in swapping. Do you have themes or just boho style?
Thank you, Judith! This swap was from last year, but these are fun and easy to make ... so I could swap with you in the future. Mine mostly lean toward BOHO, as I like the snippet rolls for using up my stash of fabric scraps. Although color themes would be easy enouh for me to pull off :)
So cute! I love them. ❤
Thank you so much!
Hi Karen, just loved all 3 of these. I am new at slow stitching and I love the snippet roll. Could you tell me what you use for the backing fabric the you apply the fabric on , or do you just have the fabric sewn together and no backing? Thanks so much for sharing.....
Hi Kathy! Most people just layer stuff on a single thickness of muslin or quilting fabric to kee it thin, but I am really a texture girl. The materials used depend on what kind of scraps I am using up ... but they all start with a thin layer of muslin or thin cotton strip on the bottom. I use lots of thick wools for fabric collages, so I glued down an assortment of small wool felt scraps to act as my batting - - but I will use real batting when my scraps get used up. Then I just layed down various squares and rectactangles of scrap fabrics overlapping them. I glue everything with a tiny bit of fabri-tac and let it dry. Then I stitch by machine to secure eerything good enough to hold... and then I start my slow-stitching after that. :)
Karen these are great. Now I want to make some themes snippit rolls.
Thank you so much!!
@@KarenBrattyPants you are welcome 🩷
Beautiful! I am going to attempt making a snippet roll when I get enough courage. Lol. Thanks for sharing.
