Wow that's so little pay for connections with 2 techs and van full of equipment! I suspected the techs didn't get paid much, the most help I could get was to leave a draw wire in a newly installed conduit, it seemed every Chorus tech was scared to do anything outside what Chorus allowed, probably because Chorus can easily terminate their contract and lively hood at the drop of a hat. I didn't mind paying something, a few hundred maybe even tho I had made the install far easier and safer under ground than having to get a cherry picker to put an ugly cable up and around the outside of the house! I battled for months and eventually got a Senior Delivery expert to come onsite and look at over head route and the under ground route, he checked where I had run my under ground conduit to(corner of the lounge where TV is) and said yeah it's great he'll sort the OHUG and probably wouldn't cost me anything which it didn't! Common sense prevailed and the whole process of install from scope, doing and approving the plan and installing only took 2 hours, and all I have is 1 meter of conduit out the ground to the external box, really tidy! worth the fight and it's been working great for a year now. I requested Coltronics did the install as his vans were really well geared up and they had been helpful through the drawn out process that initially started with Chorus wanting to run a cable for my neighbor through my property, cutting a 14 meter micro trench in my drive for a neighbors connection! All because if was cheaper to run inside the boundary than up the street, eventually they ran it up the berm. I know Telecom screwed over telephone techs making them all become contractors and the same is continuing here with Chorus.

Glad I'm not the only one, they cancelled my order! Now looking at getting OHUG quote done again since there are no materials needed yet $450 is for materials. I don't understand why they want to make it so hard for people to get a tidy fibre install when we do all the work to make it a simple job for them that they seem to be trying to discourage, it's bizzare.

@@sabertown1653 I'm now going through the process of trying to get a break down if the quote that is made up of $331.65 +GST for materials, and $1,126.58 + GST for labour. I spent the best part of 2 and a half hours today trying to get a hold of someone who could tell me. Neither Chorus, UCG (the local Fibre sub contractor), or Spark could tell me.... In the end I send an email off to a few email addresses from Chorus, and Spark with the hope of getting something back tomorrow. I agree that this should not be so hard. Especially when I have done 95% of the work, including mounting the correct Chorus ETP at the required height, and drilling the hole that goes through the brick wall, into the garage.

@@chrisallennz where did you get the ETP as thought only the Chorus contractor would supply and fit that when they run the fibre? It's Visionstream who do all the scopes and quotes under Chorus banner. It's like they pic a figure out of the air and you have to accept it as there is no one else u can get a quote from, no other business can get away with that. I'm in auckland fyi.

@@chrisallennz Cool will follow, I see you already have Fibre and are wanting to move it from OHUG whereas mines a new connection so a little different in that respect but similar in having done all of the hard labor work.
