After installing comma 2 to your car. Is the precoalition system inside the corolla still work when open pilot is disengaged(off) and you are driving it normally? Also, When you turn of the car will it draw energy from the Car battery to stay on all the time? is there a way to turn it off and is it safe to do that?
I got stuck with how to remove the smaller rear part of the cover. I have vision in only one eye & can't see inside the cover. I removed two orange clips but haven't been able to twist the rear part out. Somebody please help!
Nice video, not sure how it took me a year to find it. Quick question: Does OpenPilot suppress the 5 MPH increments on the ACC Set/Resume? Most cars will increase or reduce the set speed by 1 MPH when you click the +/- buttons or 5 MPH when you hold them. I see you pressing the +/- buttons repeatedly which aligns with hearing that Comma has disabled the 5 MPH increments on a long press. Is that true? Or did you not know you can typically hold the +/- buttons for 5 MPH increments? Thanks!
Works with the hatchback (sport) version?
I got mine all set up but for some reason when I engage openpilot, nothing happens. I have to drive my vehicle normally
Finally someone who drives reasonably! im so tired of these videos being made a 45-50mph and seeing traffic whip by them
Hello great video I have a question because openpilot also works with the high beam assistant in connection with Matrix LED headlights
Is there any way to turn off the comma 2 eye detector?
Just a suggestion to use a flashlight and point it at where you are taking the video. Can't see anything in the wiring harness area as you are showing it.
Do you need a specific version of the Toyota Corolla for this to work??
No, just the latest year. LE model used fine. A 2016 is meh, but get a 2020 or 2021
Any updates?
What button on the steering wheel do you keep hitting?
The button that sets your speed for cruise control. He keeps increasing or decreasing speed.
Hi is the standard Toyota Corolla comea with self parking and self driving?
Nope
If your ramp does not actively decelerate, will openpliot decelerate?
Why does the driver monitor light flicker so much?
Is it worth the price?
Yes if you have long commute. I used to drive 50 mins each way and it was totally worth it
Hi, thanks for sharing all these videos. Just now subscribed. I have 2020 Corolla SE. I'm curious how this compares to the stock adaptive cruise control? I've been pretty impressed with it, but obviously there is room for improvement. Is open pilot significantly better in your opinion? What extra functionality do you appreciate the most vs the stock adaptive cruise control? Thanks again for the uploads.
Downvoded because of idiotic music!
How sensitive is the distraction recognition? For example, when using the touchscreen on a Corolla or looking down on the phone. Do I have to disable cruise control while doing that? It seems very aggressive. I understand, that it takes action when my head slums down or something. But other than that... Also regarding the data upload. How long is it possible to drive before the storage is full or does the previous footage get deleted? I don't want to upload while driving and longer road trips could mean no wifi.
You can go for like 10 seconds before the system actually starts to stop applying throttle. Just look up for a quick second when it tells you off (you have a little bit before it takes any action) and go back to the touchscreen. As for the phone, you shouldn't be using it in the first place.
Annoying music background.
How good is the comma 2 as a dash cam?
Steve UTEPFOOTBALL works great I love it. Only thing I wish it did was record sound.
@@lookmanohands6186 How are you downloading the dash cam videos? I can only do 30 seconds or so.
1:39 - Little hiccup on interstate off ramps?? Sad
Kastan Day yes depending on the off ramp it will move on 7.2. 7.4 did a pretty good job fixing this.
Hi, how did you route the wires behind the airbag? I also have a 2020 corolla.
Feisty Finn I just tucked them underneath the Plastic panel enough that you can’t see them but very close to the edge where it meets the trim
@@lookmanohands6186 Is the wire running behind the airbag panel from the right then down? If so, did you have to remove the panel temporarily or was it pushed through?
The left side of the steering wheel isn't being filmed, how often did you manually assisted in steering in this video with your left hand?
On this trip I touched the steering wheel a total of 5 times. So not very often and only for a second or two when needed
how long did it take to ship?
2 weeks I ordered the day it got released
Do you have the option of adding more sensors?
What model radar detector is that? Do you recommend?
I’ll have to look tomorrow I forgot but I will let you know
Uniden protector sorry for the late reply
does it automatically upload all the footage or do you have the option to select and upload it? (does it only upload over wifi, because what if I have my car on in park and I'm making out with a girl or smoking, I kind of dont want that on the internet)
It automatically uploads all footage to the comma cloud via mobile lte but you can either unplug the device or block the camera to be sure it doesn’t catch any make out sessions😂
Does this release of 0.7.3 allow adjustment of the following distance to the car in front?
No but you can tune that in settings via ssh
Any scenario at all where you prefer the stock TSS 2.0 over Open Pilot?
Not at all, the openpilot system makes it so I don’t have to touch the steering wheel on a road trip at all. Went on a 3 hour road trip this week only had to grab the wheel once because of a road hazard.
Good video, but the reversed music sound makes me mad. :)
damn man this looks great. ordered mine and read the discord daily. how often are there disengagements on a stretch like this?
Zero disengagement’s unless I need to turn. in this video I had one very random disengagement on the straightaways. I went on a trip last night 2 hours on the freeway no disengagement’s, comma system is awesome!
Awesome video dude! Its amazing what can be done with technology.
Thanks kris!
just got mine after a month now im waiting for my 2020 prius prime limited i ordered 10 weeks ago heheh
You will love it! Hopefully your Prius shows up ahead of schedule!
Just got a 2020 LE too... waiting for my Comma 2. Can't wait!
It is so fun! You will love it!
@@RecreationCertified It's here! You are right, i'm on 0.7.4 and loving it! This covid-19 situation sucks though :)
Does it recognize stop signs and stop lights?
It does not, that will coming hopefully in the near future.
Thanks for the vid man
J M thanks for the support!
Nice video, keep up the good work!
Radar detector - check. Going over 90 - check. Colorado driver in a truck in the left lane speeding up as you're trying to pass on the right (lol) - check. This vid gave me much anxiety, but nice to know openpilot works at higher speeds, lol.
The truck thing got me lol. Too true.
Unofficially can confirm it works at 120+. in the future transportation will be more efficient 85 mph traffic is slow in the grand scheme of things. Loving my comma 2 it works great have about 1000 miles logged so far.
You left out music nobody wants to hear.
How about a quick guide on how to tune OpenPilot?
I am learning how to tune at the moment. It will be a week or so before I get talented enough to make a video. What are you wanting to tune on openpilot?
@@lookmanohands6186 I'm looking to tune the ping pong out of my setup. Every version's gotten better out of the box but you can still notice it.
Bao Li what vehicle do you have and are you running 7.2?
@@lookmanohands6186 I'm running 7.1 in a 2015 Genesis. I'm just looking for a quick explaination of what values to change, where I can find them and what each value does. That would make a great video.
How are the torque limits for steering on the Corolla? Can it handle fairly sharp turns, or not really?
JustMe yes it handles sharp turns very well. I’ll post a video here soon showing one of the sharper on ramps we have in my area. Stay tuned.
I have a Nissan Rogue 2018 and it is not compatible. You said that you car wasn’t compatible either but you used “fork”. Will this be possible with my car too? I saw that there was a Nissan section in the forum.
Bo Goss I would need to do more research but as far as I’m aware zero nissans are supported at this time. I’m sure it’s on the way with pro pilot introduced last year which will be much easier to mesh with open pilot. All comes down to the amount of torque that can be supplied via the power steering and lots of other factors as far as I am aware.
LookMaNoHands ok, tks.
Thanks for the explanation. Looks awesome! Any driving Issues?
J M, thanks for watching, yes I had issues with the master version of 7.1. My 2020 corolla would not be recognized so I had to install a fork(AKA another version of 7.1) for my 2020 corolla which was made from another user. It’s working great I love it and will be uploading a video of how I did this hopefully this week.
@@lookmanohands6186 Oh great. I look forward to watching it. Thx
@J M Update 7.2 fixed the issue it will recognize more vehicles now. Install process is much easier now for 2020 Corolla
Is it possible to paint the head white? The sun really causes heat problems with my cell phone...so I painted it white and it really helped.
Steve smith This device doesn’t have a battery, it is directly taking power from your car. So it should not overheat.
It still has possibility of overheating from sun during the summer months. I havent had my device in the summer yet but luckily the Comma 2 has a built in fan to cool itself down.
You could easily paint the head white but I dont see any need to the fan does a great job cooling so far. We will see how summer months go.
