I am probably a year or two away from not being able to keep up. That said, his bike is more nimble, mine rolls faster so I need to let him go ahead before straight sections or I will run up on him. Also, before areas where I know he's going to do higher risk maneuvers I will stay further back in case he crashes.

These videos are older than that. They were shot between his Crankworx practice laps. A busy race season means they're only being edited and uploaded now.

Watch some of the jump practice videos if you want to see badass. Newer videos are mostly blue jumplines as they're done with clipless pedals. The older videos are a mix of blue and black, done with flat pedals.

Pikas stay active all winter so they build hay piles in between the rocks to last them the entire winter, which is a long time in the North Cascades.

He's at the Tamarack race of the NW Cup now so he was "practicing".... On the wrong bike, but a bike is a bike, I guess.

Where is this track?

The track is on the Olympic Peninsula. Lookup the NW Cup. This is the second stage of the series. The trails themselves were much easier than what Adrian can ride, it is the speed that makes the trails difficult. He actually needs to work less on big air and more on staying close to the ground to go much faster on such easy trails. Catching up to the kid ahead of him on the race lap was just pure bad luck as he closed the 30 second gap in about 1/3 of the course. He races XCO as well.... Just last weekend, after his race, he went on to pop gap jumps on his XC race bike to "practice". He did get second place racing the age group above his own so he claimed to need to "work on his XC skills by popping a few jumps". If it isn't jumps, it is wheelies or some other such stuff. The XC race had no jumps, no mandatory ones anyhow, and all the bigger jumps along the course were roped off for insurance purposes..... Try telling that to the 8 year old who figured he would have won if he could have just jumped over the bigger kid who kept "blocking him".....

There's some time to recover before race #3. It happens to everyone at some point.

They were safe, for now, Adrian placed fifth of 8, behind one 13 year old and three 12 year olds. In another year or two he will be in a better position to challenge for first place as the race was meant for 10-13 year olds.

This bike park is in Chestermere, Alberta, Canada.

Don't do what? The bike has studded tires and the clipless pedals are adjusted for easy release and paired with multidirectional cleats in case of a drift that goes too far off.... Perfectly safe and fun, much safer than other ways of getting down a slope anyhow. These are tiny, slow speed jumps compared to what Adrian does in the warmer months.

Who needs rollercoasters with riding skills like that!
