They are very different shoes that serve different purposes IMO. SB2’s for long distances (IE: Max comfort and protection) vs. ES4 are for up tempo / intervals / fast paced runs, even races. The foams are also different and feel different on foot. If you haven’t had the chance to, I’d check out the es4’s at your local store and try them on. I would just say to determine what you will be using the ES4’s for. Hope that helps!

To each their own, absolutely. These were just an utter disaster for me personally but I also know some people who enjoy them even with a lot of the downsides. I’ve heard great things about the 6’s especially that it’s a huge improvement from the 5’s. Looking forward to trying them out.

Agreed bro, whatever new voodoo they’re putting in the lightstrike foam I’m loving it. Definitely softer than previous versions but still dense enough to not bottom out. Very excited for the 2025 year, Adidas is hitting the mark on everything they’re putting out dominating over every other company right now in terms of performance, value and improvements. Need to pick up both without my wife finding out haha

@didiktyopras1456 are you running a 6min km or mile? Regardless, I would recommend adding this into your rotation for an upcoming race training block but not as a daily workhorse to eat up all your mileage. It is a carbon plated shoe so the longevity/lifespan are generally less than daily trainers or max cushion runners. If you’re looking for a daily trainer for lower mileage that’s fast: Adidas SL2, Adidas Evo SL, Nike Zoom Fly 6

Superblast 2 is good for daily trainer. Very versatile non plated shoe

Depending on your foot shape, the forefoot of the sb2 can be a bit wide. Glad the half size down worked out for you, they’re great shoes

@guysmith9353 I think you'll like the feel of the SB2's in that case. It's a great balance between just soft/squishy enough with a solid firmness to be stable and not feel like you'll roll your ankle every stride. If you decide to give them a shot, I've seen some floating around for under retail!

Congrats on reaching that milestone! I agree they’re amazing for those longer distances for sure. How’re they feeling at 100km mileage compared to brand new out of the box?

@MrAnfonzo For me, I’m a self proclaimed “heavier” runner (5’8 - 173lbs) so with that in mind, I was able to get a decent amount of compression with them right out of the box for the first 20 miles where it didn’t feel “hard/firm” as some others have stated. I will say every run I take them on now, the foams feels to be loosening up as in being more forgiving than how they felt right out of the box so it’s hitting a sweet spot. Long answer short, yes they do have a break in period 😄

Glad to hear it worked well for you! From my personal experience and others, seems to be a mixed bag of the shoe either working perfectly or having major issues with particular feet. Have seen first hand people “doing surgery” to the shoe to get it to fit right lol. Looks like the AP4 will solve a lot of those issues from looking at the updates to materials but we will see. Are you picking up a pair of AP4’s?

@ceelothatmane9421 anything weighted (seated or standing) will help build but I like to focus on the stretch, time under tension and the (lighter weight higher reps). Just make sure whatever platform you’re using offers enough range of motion. Let me know how it goes for you 🤙🏽
