Kim is the problem in my opinion because not only does she have strong feelings for OP's brother, she accepted OP for 7 long years and went to the same university together. She lied to everyone including herself the whole time. She didn't know what she wanted and just hoped something good happened along the way. Kim was a downright idiot making excuses that OP was a controlling and unexciting person whom she has been with that long even the friends in circle denied it and claimed Kim was lying. If she claims OP was that cruel, why stay with him? It's like if someone tells you to jump a bridge, there's a huge chance she would jump. Her parents felt ashamed of her actions to clarify that she was clearly at fault. OP's family is just messed up and obsessed with family peace. I'm pretty sure if you rearrange the characters in different places, I'm sure they will be fine with it. For example, if the scenario were to be the same but have mom replaced Kim, Dad replaced with OP and Dad's brother replaced Ron. I'm sure they would be that fine with it. Even if they didn't want to confess to the OP about it, they hope everything will fall in place by saying "your nephew needs you". With that statement, if brother didn't make it but Kim made it, OP is the solution to have a deep bond with the nephew and bridge the relationship between OP and Kim (it is common practice when a husband passed away, his widowed wife will marry his brother). This will rekindle OP's and Kim's relationship they once had. This allows OP to take the role to care for Kim and the nephew. Keeping the family peace. Then again I'm not surprised this happened in real life.

No. What OP should have done was call her fiancé and told him that Odessa canceled the venue, so the wedding is off. She's clearly in love with him so, he needs to marry her instead since she claims to know him so much better than anyone else, and post the same announcement on social media. Then call and cancel everything else and watch the fallout.
