Hey everyone! I have no idea what kinda video to make so plz comment and tell me :P on this channel you will probably see random videos ;)
“The Girl From Ipanema” - A Tribute by Bossa Merchants
This is a very special project for me. This humble Jobim masterpiece is credited with launching the Bossa Nova revolution in the US in the mid 1960s, a jazz sub-genre I love for its traditionally unplugged arrangements, creative chord movements, entrancing syncopation, and sensual vocals. This flagship Bossa song has particularly unusual changes, and a melody line that references voices not present even in those chords, making it confusing to understand melodically and even more challenging to sing. And yet, the result is so delightful. You can listen to it here:

Glad you liked it!
Beautiful rendition. Greg Webster, the drummer, and I were both students of the late Buddy Deppenschmidt, from different generations, but both love bossa equally. It's projects like this that keep bossa nova spirit alive. Um Forte abraco! Samba pa ti!
Thanks, Troy!! I wanted it to be awesome, and Greg helped that happen!
Effortlessly gorgeous. A thank you to Jesse for letting me know about this!!
oh very sweet comment! Thank you! It was a massive effort to make it look effortless :-D
Is the beginning Portuguese?
Yes, like the full length original, where guitarist (and husband of the female singer) João Gilberto sings that first verse in Portuguese. The link for that version is in the description.
@@flyry2376 Bossa Nova in general was born in Portuguese-speaking Brazil, so you will find that language frequently sung in this genre of music 😍

Nice job fellows !! Not easy to pull off by any means!!
Excellent!!!
Hey brother! That’s a fabulous example. I’m looking to create that sound for a cover band. Any way for you to share your settings or the patch for my NS EX 88?
Wow! Totally inspired me... to try to steal every setting and lick you play. Thanks for sharing.
I love this video. Great to see how you approach everything on the Stage. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! Sorry I'm just seeing this now!!
this was wonderful
Thanks very much! I appreciate it! It was tons of work to reverse engineer his work, at least the best I could, and with the gear that I have!
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! Do you have a list of the sounds you are using for each song?! Thank you ! BJ from Montana!🎹🎵
Can you tell me what preset or sample you started with and what control you used for the sweeping sound? I have a Nord Electro 4D. Trying to replicate what you did here.
Did you use a preset or did you create the sound first? Which know are you using to change the sound? Thank you.
Thank you Sharon & Dana!! You did a great job!! The memorial of our classmates gone too soon was really touching !!
