Little blast from the past. Recorded this great song back in 1999. It was written by songwriter and producer and arranger Andrew Vroomans as part of the album ‘Book of dreams’. Driving a great song is like driving a great car. Recorded this back in 1999. It was more tricky than I expected to record drums on top of my original drumpart but great fun to dive into this beautifull piece. More to come cause there's a whole album. By adding accents in your right hand, this whole linear thing becomes way more difficult. #madrid #musiciansinmadrid #drum #drumteachers #disco #funk #blues # dance #pop #rock #country #drums #drummer #drummers #drumteacher #drumlesson #drumlessons #drumlessonsonline #drumtec #vdrums #slagwerkkrant #kuppmenmusic For Zoom drum lessons go to www.drumlab.online
Thanks. I've always been a "play by ear" drummer since High School and I've been able to see how it is written for drumming by watching your videos.
You’re welcome😊 Reading notes is not that hard for drummers. You mainly have to know the duration of a note. (Like 1 beat, 2 beats or half a beat for example). Figuring out where they are in the staff is for the most part almost self explanatory because there are not too many different ‘tastes’. Unlike for example piano with 88 keys and they all have their designated location on the staff.. I started out playing everything by ear as well but after a learned reading , things became more clear in my head. It gives me a better vision if what it actually was that I was doing and it also enabled me to see beyond that enabling me to come up with things that I wouldn’t think of initially. Keep it up!😃👊
This is juts great, thank you. I have started drumming for two months only and these practices are so helpful.
You’re welcome and keep it up! The world needs more drummers😃
newbie Here can you tell me the Fill pattern
Welcome😊 It’s mainly playing single strokes as fast as I can. First on the cymbals with lots of bassdrums underneath. Then fast singles over the toms (no bassdrums there) and closing with RLB (Right Left Bassdrum) with my right hand on the floor and my left hand on the snare. There are many ways to do this. It’s not my strongest thing to do since I am more of a groove player, but this grew upon me over the years by trial and error. It’s not to hard and it works😃 Have fun👊
Very nice
Thanks!🙏🏼
Thank you for the lesson
Thanks very much appreciated.
how much was the drum set
Not as much as you would expect, but still more than enough😅 The bass and toms are from Drumtec, a German company. Look’m up, they’re superb and more affordable than Roland. At least when I bought them quite some time ago. Don’t know how the prices are at the moment.. Snare, hihat and cymbals are from Roland. I upgraded them not too long ago. Snare, hihats and cymbals are from roland. Snare is almost like the real thing, cymbals are ok but the hihat is definately the weakest part when comes to comparing with real hats. Module is td27. Long story short: Go with a Roland module and hook it up to something you can afford. Then upgrade later. Buying everything at once was impossible for me and I’m probably not the only one😊
@@drumlabonline Nice , Im using an MPS-1000 drum currently it's a nice budget acoustic drum alike ekit, You should try playing some Nirvana song i wanna see
Nice!
beginning sounded like the start of "little fury things" by dinosaur jr
What are you doing with your kick?
Hi, I’m playing RLLKick all the way through in 16th notes. Except at the end of a phrase I play one extra bassdrum in order to land on beat 1
Great chop! 🫵😎
Second demonstration played faster, at 0:48, is super cool! 😎
Thank you! 🙏🏼
this is a good teacher, thank you
Good job👍
Nice 👍
25 years later and this song has stood the test of time remarkably well. The drummer did as well! 👍
finding new music is so good man
I wouldn't really call these beats linear. While you are taking your right hand away whenever you play the snare, you aren't doing the same for the bass drum. For a groove to be truly linear, there should be little to no overlapping of different parts of the kit. That being said, great playing and I enjoyed the beats nonetheless
Omg, you’re absolutely right! I should have given this a different name. I think I came up with a title a little to quick. Thank you for pointing this out🙏🏼👊
What drum kit is that I'm looking for one and like the look of yours
Thanks! The bass and toms are Drumtec. The snare and cymbals are Roland and the module is td27. Look into the Drumtec stuff, it’s a german company and they make great looking kits and they trigger perfectly😃
Wow cool
Nice
I've always liked drums, but I finally got a little practice pad and am starting to practice. Subscribed!
short and exelent
Thank you!🙏🏼
John Bonham
Yep, I think he was the one who made this popular, but I will not be surprised if he stole it too. Probably from people like Buddy Rich or other jazz big shots😊
And now, paint that ceiling 😇
You,r actually a inspiraton,top stuff
Thank you so much!🙏🏼 I also do private lessons with Zoom. It’s amazing how good this actually works. You can always do a free trial lesson. Link to the website is in the description😊👍
I have no idea what song it is 😂
drummers will know😊
❤
Wow man this is such an awesome drum lesson I love it.😃👍❤️
Thank you for posting this lesson.
hey Ik merkte in de hoek van de kamer de coole staande lamp. Is dat op basis van een tom? Kan daar wat uitleg bij? THX!
Haha thanks! Nee hoor, niet gemaakt van een tom. Gewoon een hele coole lamp😎
Are those Drum tec heads better than the Roland ones?
They feel very similar to me. Both are great!😊👌
Moved?
Yes! To Madrid😃
❤👍
Great video! Thank you :)!
You’re welcome😃 Feel invited to check my website drumlab.online
you blew my mind xD
You didactic is so good! Nice video!
Seems really smart practicing the accents first, gaining that muscle memory and then sort of compositing the double stroke into them. I hadn't ever thought about learning rudiments in that fashion till now. But also, till now, I've always been somewhat ignorant to learning rudiments so here's to the future and consistency haha. Good stuff thank you!
Thanks! 🙏🏼 There’s a lot more of this stuff on the way 😃
Are you sure you're not Tomas Lang?
Haha 😂 I wish
You rock duuuude!!! This is drum teaching!
Thank you!😃🙏🏼 Also check my website www.drumlab.online
I'm glad I found your channel. I'm an old drummer starting in high school and taught myself many of your lessons because way back then, there were no talented instructors near where I grew up. When we went to which school band concerts/compititions, us drummers would go off on our own and trade methods.
Happy to hear you like the channel😃 It is a great thing that nowadays we can do drumlessons online. I even give them one on one through a Zoom connection. Works fantastic!
Hello Drummers!
Thanks for the video - a great constructive use of the parididdle
Very useful, thanks!
Cool lick, thanks!👍
Hi. Brazilian musician here. Great technique! Though I've never heard of it? Am i broken? xD Can you show an example of where this was used in our music? Thanks
Hi thank you for the kind words 🙏🏼 If you search Steve Gadd on youtube you will see him play many cool stuff including this one. An example where this is used in a recording situation is the song Roof Garden by Al Jarreau
Thanks for the great breakdown! Is there a name for this lick?
You’re welcome. I wouldn’t know a specific name for this one. I sometimes call it a Steve Gadd lick because it kinda is😁
Nog een leuke uitdaging is om de eerste HH noot met het pedaal te spelen.
Zeker😃👍 En er zijn nog zoveel meer mogelijkheden😊
Eerste!
Super groovy! Thanks for sharing
