Looks good !
Love the diorama style bases! And I totally agree, Pendraken minis are spectacular for historicals. Have a whole heap of them for a pike and shot project.
What a great looking army. The colours are really impressive and I particularly like the way you base them. It’s understated but very effective and lets the models shine. Have you considered doing a basing tutorial? Also the broom spears…what sort of broom do those bristles come from? Thanks.
Thanks for the video! I grabbed this Dacian pack along with Late Roman’s to make a Dacian and Germanic army for a couple games. Your review and army helped seal the deal!
Whats the Sea Dragon mini you're going use?
TTCombat sells a cool feathered dragon that fits the theme.
GW can go fuck themselves for forcing us to rebase though.
Looking great, Matt!
Thanks!
nice work dude🍻
Thank you! Cheers!
New warhammer old world 😅
Ha, yeah it’s a mouthfull! Too bad “9th” was already taken by the fan rules!
Its beautiful, but the game starts and all your models have to check difficult terrain😂
Ha, thank you! In my head I justify them walking over the top of sand and waves like Legolas on top of the snow.
why are they so mad at the sea
Ha, I will need to make an aquatic daemon army for them to fight!
@@BraggingRightsWHFB you could save on bits by having some arms and heads sticking out of the sea, within some units
Nicolás Giacondino was the artist. Excuse the pronunciation.
Very nice.
Thank you sir.
I've ordered these. Have you seen that Vendel Thistel and Rose have a good range of Lycians too? Spearmen and archers. They're on my wish list too.
I have not. How do they scale?
@@BraggingRightsWHFB I'll tell you when they arrive:)
Can you explain a bit how you play Bolt Action with 1/72 models? How do you adapt the scale?
We played full sized measurements but on a 3x4 table with smaller deployment zones
certainly not tournament ready measurements! We also considered doing half distances for everything.
Giving you a sub for turning me on to Lucid Eye - Never heard of them before but super stoked to get access to the great Steve Saleh's work - geez; those Amazons!
Great to hear. They have steadily expanded their line, I’m looking forward to what is to come.
The figure 8 shield in Greek pottery art was code for "This is a Mythical scene". They painted the regular round hoplon in scenes meant to be contemporaneous.
Yeah, I love the visual distinction it provides as well.
Wow, superb armies and camp...and cracking job with the bases, congrats!👍👍😍😍
thank you much! Hoping to get back in the saddle this autumn.
This short content is great
Thanks for the feedback. I made another short.
Great painting and basing, big like and new sub!
Excellent! Great to have you.
So many superb figures and buildings in a single video...Cracking job, painting and basing!👍👍
Thanks, I am hoping to greatly expand the 10mm Romans this year.
Nice work! Wonderful looking characters!
Thanks bro, we should play that battle. It would be a fun one to stage
Great set of figures.
Thanks they were fun to do
The guy with the defect doesn't have a defect. His axe is supposed to lay on his shoulders in the little recess you see as a defect.
You are so right I am dumb haha. Thank you, I feel like such a goober :). At this point I think I will leave him as is.
I really like the lion skin soldiers @3:47 The red shields really pop. I've honestly never heard of these models before, but they look really cool!
Thank you! I love trying out new model ranges or scales.
Great update.
Thank you much. It's fun to paint a huge unit of heavy lead that thunks onto the table!
Great update! Romans are looking intimidating and I love that bard figure as well!
Thanks. I still am not loving the basing but I'm not sure there is a perfect option for me. I think I will continue this basing method through the Roman and Latin legions
I would next do a couple Campanian legions and maybe one or two Etruscan.
Great Force can you show your other 1/72 forces please!
Sure thing. I would say that my 1/72 are very low effort so not my best work, but extremely cost and time efficient! I spent about one full day on each army.
Those figures look great. Color palette and basing really helps them shine. Love the camp as well!
Thanks man. I improvised colors a lot more than usual. Typically I meticulously plan how each figure will be painted. This time I painted just a unit or two at a time and didn't have a plan until I put the minis in front of me on the table. I just primed a quincunx tonight so that will likely be next.
@@BraggingRightsWHFB They look sweet, I'm really tempted to do some smaller scale stuff.
awesome and cute army !
Thanks man
This looks so good!
Thank you
Very nicely done 👍 what save are the bases
The bases are Bat Bases from the Big Red Bat shop run by Simon of To the Strongest! fame.
What are the base sizes you're using? It looks good.
They are standard Kings of War bases by Ironheart Artisans
Awesome work! The statue with the shield trophies is such a really great piece. All the troops looking fantastic though!
Thanks, just a few more units to go to really consider it finished. I need to find Hypaspists that will work well.
I am not sure what I can actually use the shrine for in TtS but I had fun putting it together. I am trying to put a little more scenic effort into my 10mm camps partially inspired by the shrine
@@BraggingRightsWHFB Looks like it would be a great camp. Could also be a great objective type marker?
@@BraggingRightsWHFB foundry hypaspists are great. Lucid eye also has mono pose type ones that look good
What an awesome force. Respect! How long has all that taken you ?
Almost all of it was painted last summer actually over a 2-3 month period. I painted them to play TTS and KoW.
I agree w the problems w AP speed paints. I only use a few sparingly now where they wont be in contact w any other colours that would reactivate them.
Yeah it's tough as I have so many of them I don't want to see them "wasted" so I carefully surround them with other paints as you say. Or other times I forget and ruin a model.
That's a lovely warband, nicely painted!
Thank you, almost there, just a few more highlights and shield decals left to do.
Fantastic looking unit. Very inspiring. Visually stunning.
Thank you much! Go paint some of your pile!
Nice figures buddy
Hey thanks! Felt great to finish off these models that were collecting dust.
Lovely warband!! Mostly painted using contrasts/speedpaints?
Yeah, metals are the only exception. I highlighted over and drybrushed as well. In prepping the minis I primed with skeleton bone and drybrushed white.
Love this, very interesting !
Thanks! Dark Age Irish will be showcased next week.
awesome army! I have been thinking of getting the dacian kit. The addition of the archers is really handy as you can use them for pretty much any barbarian army and even for Age of Vikings Dark Age Archers.
Thanks! I think the kit works well to bridge the gap between ancients and dark ages. I will be posting more Dacians to youtube later this evening.
These are superb. What size are the movement trays? Excellent stuff
They vary from unit to unit but are mostly 80mm wide and either 40 or 60mm deep. I purchased them from Tectonic Craft Studios.
Very nice model! Fleshtones look great to me!
Thank you. For this model I mostly relied on contrast paints with highlights.
Having regrets about buying the 28mm figures after seeing these. So much cheaper
Yeah, pennies on the dollar!
These look fantastic
Your Galatian cavalry are very striking. The Celts seem to have got around more than one might think. I have just been reading an Osprey Men at Arms about the army of Herod the Great and was surprised to learn that there were celtic cavalry in his bodyguard, though it isn't known if they were Galatian or from Gaul.
Wow that is awesome! I have a Folio edition of Josephus that I need to read.
Could be either. Galatians kept in contact with the tribes back in Gaul so some of the Galatians that fought in the wars of the period may have come from Gaul. Gaulish coins are mostly based on Macedonian coins of Philip of Macedon and they kept the designs all the way through to the Roman invasion. So the Gauls must have done a lot of mercenary fighting for Philip II or Alexander and then brought these coins home and began copying them. The British Celts were using coins based on Macedonian coins up to the Claudian invasion in 43.
The Black Sea ship look great. Looks very tricky to paint. Maby one day I try paint a ship. Nice work on all figures. 👍
Thanks. The 3d prints come out OK, I would like to see how they look with rigging tied on as well.
@@BraggingRightsWHFB Rigging will make them look epic.
Love the cloak colours!
Thanks Parker!
Lime disease… that sucks. Might have to look at these guys for my Persian force.
I run 10mm versions in my 10mm Persians. I am crazy enough to be collecting the same armies in two scales at once!
@@BraggingRightsWHFB yeah that is crazy, I don’t think I could do 10mm. 15mm is as small as I go. You say you play kings of war historical, do you ever do WAB?
I originally collected for WAB way back with the first ancient plastics, but haven't found an opponent since. Kings of War historicals tends to do something similar but much easier.
@@BraggingRightsWHFB well if your ever in UT i am always down for some HC, WAB or KoW.
