Firstly you can remove the multimeter from oil . 2nd oil is clean or absorbed by using cotton cloth 3rd. Open the multimeter back two screws 4th remove battery from multimeter 5th by using cotton cloth clean inside or outside of the multimeter softly , without breaking, damaging or removing any component . 6th multimeter plastic mounted pcb open by removing scrw. Please open carefully by selecting the nob safely collect two tiny metal balls or connection pin 7th use thinner ,deep plastic or pcb, Use a tooth brush and clean all components gently .display or display connecting rubber clean softly 8th by using clean thinner repeat previous step. 9th dry on the soft sunlight or air 10 assembly all components or new battery. 11th ready to use or otherwise identify the fault .

I'm asking that can I supply 5V to this module with a mobile phone charger without damaging the module? Can 5V damage the voltage regulator or the circuit?

My multimeter was kept for a long time and battery in the meter melt as a result meter become faulty I tried my best but it is not in order .ohm showing DC voltage also showing but in AC nidle of the meter kicking back.meter is SANWAYX360TR. product of sanwa India . @@TechtronicsIndra

Try krke dekho mill vi sakta hai Kiuki O IC alag purpose Kalia vi use ho sakthahe Sayed "hamlog nahi Jane". Or ek bar thandi dimak se IC ko check Karo IC jaldi kharab nahi hoti.
