Even if I have the money I will not pay 4K for 1080p I have 200 movies on Apple TV and lot mores disks. Once these companies will go out of business this will be nice box. What happened to TiVo we all know. I try not to buy content online many streaming services merging and who knows they will honor the purchases. I already see some 4 content I bought wen to 1080p when services merged same goes for atmos or no atmos, I bought movies on privilege 4K and that has disappeared money gone. I have already invested in oppo and pioneer lx500 player which is best as it could for 4K content.
Yeah, there is always that possibility and the price is still pretty high for the storage capacity for sure. Will keep everyone posted as time goes by on how it's going.
Thanks for nice video. Problem is Strato V has 1080p UI in 2024 for $4k priced player. 1080P UI looks really bad on 100”+ screens. I wish it has 2160P UI for this price player which is released in 2024.
Thanks for checking it out! I didn't realize that. I checked and the receiver and TV both show that it's receiving a 4k 60p signal from the Strato V but maybe I'm missing something.🤔
@ Strato V UI is natively in 1080p but uhd movie plays in 4k. Due UI all natively in 1080p, it upscaled in 4k, so posters icons look extremely bad on 100+ inch screens for home theaters. Funny is part that old model Strato C UI is natively in 4k it looks stunning on big screens. Special poster wall.
@@HamzaKhan-th8fx Ah, got it. When I do go up close to the screen I do see some artifacts around some of the images. That's too bad. Wonder if that is something that they could do via a software update?
@@RandomDistractionsYTnot possible via software as Strato V chip has limitation to natively output UI in 2160p. Hopefully they will resolve this in upcoming models. It’s just bad design engineering choice they made. Better chips are already available in market. If you can join in kscapeowners forum, in depth discussion going on there as well.
That is too bad. Will check out that forum and thanks for the info.
It’s just so damn expensive.
Yeah, despite the "lower" price it is unfortunately still expensive. Since I felt comfortable with everything else in my system (for now) I decided it was ok for me to invest in this part of it.
I have the Strato V and it’s awesome in my theater. Welcome to the club. One thing that I really like is getting movies early before the disc.
Thanks! It’s been great so far and have noticed that they are usually available really early which is great.
Agree! I'm in the UHD ripping club, but it's really annoying, to wait that long for the disk to become available. I might just buy this thing to get early access to best quality (not just the Apple TV version), but it bugs me big time to think how many UHD disks I can buy for the value of the Strato V player 🙂
@@hlind1734 agree, there definitely pros and cons (really only con is price) but once I had set it up and started using it I knew I made the right decision. From making scripts, having color picture app you can download to correct picture settings, the quality and the ease of use is huge. I was never going to buy it at 9k but 4k was more justifiable. If you end up buying it and after having it for a while, you most likely will say it’s worth it. Another thing is not storing all the 4k blu rays is a bonus as well. For the blu rays you have you can get it disk to digital and most are $4.92
@@hlind1734 I know right, that would be a lot of disks!
Welcome to kscape land. I got in on an older generation model, but it's fun to watch early movies like Deadpool 3 and Alien Romulus, as well as building a modest collection via d2d.
Thanks, and glad to hear that older models are still working well.
The Focals are right between the 1723 THX and THX S. I could hear the heavier bass response on the focal, But the non S arendal well probably match it with it's 8" drivers
Yeah the regular 1723 would be a better match and maybe more so the new 1528 series.
You have right, Please, never use Dolby Audio post Processing mode in cinema, music or night mode because in any case, you will compress your sound and harm the overall sound image of your system. If you want to enjoy the real sound of recordings on your Anthem system like post production while benefiting from sound without compression, I recommend that you set the Dolby Audio Post Processing mode to (NONE) and you will be surprised to discover with a few tests everything you lost in sound quality in other modes. Note: In NONE mode you will have to increase the volume by around 8 db but you will see such a difference in sound quality, both in height and width that you will never use these other modes again. I am sure that you will rediscover your Anthem if you listen to this advice because I myself made the mistake for almost a year and since I removed this mode, I finally rediscover my MRX1140 as it should have played from the beginning.
Thanks for also checking out this video like yourself I learned that it was definitely compressing the sound and while you might have to turn up the volume it is a lot more dynamic and is truly how it should be heard with no processing. Sorry that you went through it for almost a year.

Thanks for checking out the video and I saw that you also saw my updated video of not using the post processing as you stated it hurts the dynamics for sure.
this is soo odd, when i listen back on speaker system the Arendal 1723 S has much more deep bass than the JTR 215. and none of what i heard shows up in the measurement shown here, 9:40
Thanks for checking out the video and that is the struggle with demos on RUclips as you never know what it will sound like and it could have been that my recording gear didn't pick it up as it should. If you ever have a chance to listen to any speakers in person that is always the best option.
Thank you for your work. ❤️
Thanks and appreciate you checking out the video!
@@RandomDistractionsYT no problem. If it is good, its good. We'll see if I pull the trigger on Arendal or Klipsch, or if I just conclude to let it be. Would be cool with some truly big speakers, but for that room, maybe it is just overkill. I got the B&W cm7 now. Yes they aren't punchy or flamboyant by any stretch, but they get the job done most of the time, and it costs me 0$ to keep them. Klipsch is 6000&, Arendal 4000$.. yes, yolo and all that, but I am still debating if it is worth having fun, with myself, putting my family needs aside, for 4000 or 6000 dollars. @@RandomDistractionsYTthank you my good man. Have a nice weekend ♥️
Glad to hear you are in the DFW area I am just south of Euless and just upgraded to jtr 212htrs and I am very happy with them
Congrats on the new gear! Thanks for checking out the video! If you haven’t would suggest considering joining the AVS Forum DFW group. Someone in the group is putting a get together later this month to showcase his Trinnov and the waveforming capabilities in Ft Worth.
They all sounded the same until jtr which sounded richer in the mid range and higher frequencies and definitely more bass
Thanks for checking out the video. The JTRs were certainly impressive.
proof that installing Exciters like this is NUTZ!! Normally, a 2-2-pair set (stereo) fills a room very-fine. mounting on ceiling drywall....not so much!! sorry. Free-mounting with spacing is best. 🙂
Yeah, I got similar comments from others. Unfortunately that wasn't an option for my space but hopefully this can be referenced for others on what NOT to do. I will say that they do get to about 80-90 dbs but unfortunately the rest of the system is hitting 100dbs or more by that point.
nope...an exciter-driven panel MUST be free-standing, to achieve an "all-encompassing" effect!! leave drywall for walls...build "correct" DML-panels, and that'll be REALLY cool 🙂most DIY-ers, they get her done, and then...call it a day. Ask any builder, who'll tell you how very-little resonance is possible in a properly-ceiling screwed drywall panel (zilch), which also has loose-blown insulation further muffling the panel's ability to resonate. Its ALL working against you, but...that same DIY-er's gonna be happy, cause...they got her done! haaaa.... friends, do it right the first time. This one is a do-over! sorry.
@@antoniiocaluso1071 thanks for the feedback and yeah, definitely looking to do in-ceiling speakers but at least it was a fun project to try out.
I bought the 1723’s S towers just before the latest price hike wanted the 61’s but they were sold out the sound from the 23’s to me sound muddy I have 4x61 monitors and 2x61 bookshelves and 1x61 centre witch I don’t use the monitors seem clearer than the towers to me I’ve only got a marantz 1711 receiver that’s 50 watts and a emotiva basX a5175 amp that’s doing left and right preout duties that’s supposed to be 175 watts why does it sound so bad ? Not enough power ?
@@neilhutchison222 sorry to hear that, I didn’t notice muddiness from them and actually thought they were a little brighter with more low end when compared to my 1961 towers. Do you notice the muddiness when running with all speakers, when only running those two (2 ch stereo), lower volume, or higher volume? Do you have a sub and if you do what is the crossover set to? One other thing to check is to have the volume low enough that you can put your ears up to the speaker and just confirm that all the drivers are working.
Fully understand that this opinion is only as good as my headphones but the JTR’s were noticeably worse
Totally ok, I do believe the best option is to hear speakers in person. Which still may not yield a different result for you but I'm happy to include the recordings anyway. Which ones did you prefer over the JTRs from the recordings? Arendal, Revel or Dynaudio?
Arendal and Revel sounded better IMO. I maybe biased as I feel like JTR has been giving compression drivers a bad name. That maybe the JBL synthesis fan coming out in me
@@Supergoldencris I haven't heard a JBL synthesis system yet but heard good things. Closest is my 2015 Venza has a JBL Synthesis sound system and has been the best factory stereo I've had.
I have one and live in plano. Come on by
That would be cool and plano isn't too far from me. By chance are you in the DFW Home Theater group on AVS Forum?
Sadly there's no other ending, i thought we will finally meet delilah

Yes, she really is!
Its dam well written! Its very funny n interesting....
Thanks for checking out the video! Yes, this was a very well written game for sure.
I have been considering the Focal Sopra 2’s for some time. For the money and differences it sure seems like the Arendals are an excellent buy and hard to go wrong with at their price point. Not sure exactly what I would be missing by not going with the Focals. Also it would seem that the full size 1723 thx would be a more fair comparison to the Focals. I wonder what that would reveal in differences. Great review, much appreciated!
Thanks for checking out the video. Yeah, the owner of the Focals and myself both couldn't really find too much of a difference between them. As you mention the larger 1723 towers would be more in line but will say that Arendal has mentioned that they are introducing an even more advanced line (the 1528) hopefully by the beginning of the year. They will be more than the 1723 but I'm guessing they will still be less than the Focals and the look of them will seem to be different too. If you have time to wait, that new line may be something to wait for as well.
@@RandomDistractionsYT I will definitely wait. Thanks for the valuable information. Wishing you my best.
@@Donzimadness did you see the 1528 ? i think yous should audition them !
@@flash4973 yes I have. Would like to see a Sopra vs 1528 comparison before purchase even though returnable. Still a lot of effort to return these big boys if needed!
@@Donzimadness yeah it's a hassle! the problem is i don't think there are much auditions for the arendals since they don't use a dealer network, maybe try to see if there is a guy with the 1528 in your area
Hello ! Isn't it annoying to place the microphone so close to the back of the sofa for the first three measures? Anthem recommends a minimum distance of 60cm... What do you think?
Hi there! I understood it as the distance from each measurement being 60cm so my second measurement is 60cm away from the first one vs how close it is to the back of the sofa. To your question though, I haven't noticed any issues when running it this way and the way I look at it is that is where my ears would be so if any adjustments need to be made based on where the back of the sofa is then it would do calculations to account for that as I wouldn't sit 60cm away from my sofa.
I am gonna focus on my front soundstage and surrounds. 5.2.4 system... The AV receiver has plenty of power to suppy the rarely used, 4-tiny atmos. Personally, 98% of my listening is music anyways. So my klipsch 8000ii towers seem to need the biggest help. Gonna check this Emotiva A5 out real soon! Thanks for your time and thoughts.
That should be a safe assumption, the atmos speakers don't need a lot. The Emotiva BasX A5 is a good one, I've also used the Buckeye amps and they have done well for me too. Thanks for checking out the video!
I just bought a3 because i only have lcr speakers the two floor speakers and center channel speaker and subwoofer of klipsch rp
Congrats on the new gear! Should be a good combo. Let me know what you think when you got it set up.
Watching this August 2024. To my unprofessional hearing, they all sound the same. I like the aesthetic of the Polk L800, hope to be able to buy one as an upgrade and replacement to my Polk RT-2000p.
Thanks for checking out the video! The Polk L800 is a good looking tower, hopefully you'll be able to upgrade soon.
What are your thoughts on the purifi/ncx modules versus the nc502? Do you think it was worth the extra cost?
You know I don't know that it was. I had the opportunity to hear another person's home theater that was using the nc502s and it sounded great! I haven't done a direct comparison so can't say 100% but after listening to that other theater I didn't feel like anything was lacking. Even Dylan at Buckeyes said that they are very comparable.
@@RandomDistractionsYT It feels like I’m missing out on “cleaner sound” but I’m insure if I’ll even be able to hear the difference
@@Sly_Kaw Oh, I see. What are you currently using to power your system? If it was like me when I was using my receiver and went to just the inexpensive Emotiva BasX series I noticed a difference in how "clean" it sounded at louder or reference levels. When I switched to the Buckeyes the "clean" sound was at reference levels and at more than my ears could handle. Another way to put it is that around 75-80dBs averages my receiver didn't sound great but didn't realize it until I switched to external amps. Then with the Buckeyes 90dBs still sounded great but it was just too loud.
@@RandomDistractionsYT I have an mrx 1140 in my old home but have currently moved and am building a new system. I previously used the internal anthem amp to power a lcr of paradigm premier towers. My preamp is going to be a marantz cinema 70s and the left and right channel are kef r3 metas
Before my 1140 I had an entry-level Pioneer and noticed the difference in what the Anthem could do for power. I actually did a video where I went back to see how the receiver alone would do against using the Buckeyes and have to say that I was impressed by what the Anthem could do but the amps still won out when it came to higher levels. Heard good things about the Marantz Cinema line. I do see that it's rated at 50 watts x 2 at 8ohms and your KEF's are rated 15-180 watts at 4ohms which are harder to drive. Like I mentioned earlier though it may depend on how loud you listen so it may not be an issue. The one other thing I will say when I switched to an amp was just how much more I could hear from the speakers even at lower levels so it's not just about how loud they can get but how much more detail comes through when there is more power. Part of the fun is trying to find that magical combination in this hobby, it's just unfortunate that it gets pricey trying to do that! 😀
What rca to xlr cable did you use? Looks like ther is only 1 xlr per channel?
Yes, there is just one per channel and as for the cables I used the Monoprice XLR male to RCA male. I heard that there were some that were causing some noise issues but they later fixed them however my cables didn't cause any issues.
What do you think new Svs Ultra Evolution movie performance?? Arendal or Svs?
Unfortunately, I haven't heard them myself but they look impressive. Hopefully I get a chance to listen to them and see how they compare.
I did not like the ending;(
Same here, I wasn't too happy with it but I later found out that there is an alternate ending which I did see somewhere else on RUclips and it seemed a lot better. If you haven't seen that, I would suggest to search it and check it out!
What cables do you use for your speaker cables as well as the RCA to XLR cables for the preamp to amp?
Sorry for the late reply, the speaker cable I use is nothing fancy. I look for 12 AWG oxygen free so I've used cable from Monoprice and some from Amazon called InstallGear. I then use some Alex Tech wire loom to cover it up. As for the XLR to RCA cables I used the Monoprice XLR male to RCA male. I heard that there were some that were causing some noise issues but they later fixed them however my cables didn't cause any issues.
Klipsch for me
Nothing wrong with that, thanks for checking out the video!
Allways nice to watch unboxing!!! You are an expert!!!
Thanks for checking out the video, maybe I'll have to add unboxing to my resume!
You should have hung acoustic ceiling tiles on the OUTside of the drywall... Suspended so as to free float.. I'm sure it would have been soooo much better sounding
To your point, it probably would have but unfortunately, I don't have a dedicated space so this would have been in our living room which only has 8 ft ceilings but more importantly I would have been killed by my wife. 🔪😵
@@RandomDistractionsYT They could have been done tastefully, say by putting LED strips on the ceiling then hanging the suspended panels. I think there is a name for that kind of lighting I'm not sure of the name though. Tray lighting maybe?
Personally I think that would be cool (I like the idea of the LEDs) but my wife already doesn't like the fact that I have speakers in the living room in the first place so by being able to keep them hidden I was able to get away with it. I will say though I don't feel too much of a loss in the sound and everyone that has come to my house and they hear them are impressed. It's also kind of cool to just have the sound coming from the ceiling.
There is a low constant hiss in your video. Check it out, its really annoying.
I do hear and somehow missed that. Unfortunately, I delete my files after a bit so don't have a way to fix it, which stinks. Sorry about that!
It's pretty darn bad with ANC off.
the jbl is much more dynamic which is good for home theater use
Thanks for checking out the video. Unfortunately, I only had about an hour of listening time with the JBLs so glad to have an owner provide some additional comments about them.
The vegetable police, might reconsider his music now that I see it is quality sound.
😁
Have you had issues with your HDMI inputs being close together ?
No but I only use 3 of them. One from my Xbox, one that goes to the TV, and a spare one that I use with my laptop when doing tests.
Bet my Paradigm 8000's beat all those to shreds.
Heard good things about the Paradigms, unfortunately I didn't know anyone that owned them, otherwise would have been glad to compare them.
Are these good to use for music only?
Yeah, would totally suggest them for music. I use my Anthem MRX1140 and with the Arendals I'm constantly trying to find time to listen to some music with them.
Someone gave me one of these mics. What software, besides REW, can be used along with the UMM-6 to create a signal and then interpret the input signal? I just want to create some FRD files, but I don't understand how to use this mic or what software is used for speaker measurements.
Unfortunately that's beyond my scope but did a google search and FPGraphTracer came up. Not sure if that is what would help but hopefully somebody else here sees your comment to provide some feedback. I just use REW to get some basic measurements and know that there is probably still a whole lot more that can be done with REW.
1917 has a static atmos mix
Thanks for checking out the video. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the term "static atmos mix". What does that mean?
@@RandomDistractionsYT not a dynamic mix. Not good atmos immersion
@@PIPERBOYWILLIAMS Ah, will have to look more into this, thanks for clarifying.
GREAT TESTING FOR A MORE FINITE VIEW BETWEEN MULTIPLE OPTIONS.....THANK YOU!
Thanks, I appreciate you checking out the video.
These speakers models are not all in the same class in size or price!
I know, right? I always wondered how much of a difference it really is between different sizes and prices and so really grateful that I had a chance to try that.
No way the small arendal does a better job than the 3800, and Arendals is half the price
It was honestly really hard to distinguish which is why I was glad that I had the owner of the JBLs listening with me as well and he also couldn't tell much of a difference and thought the Arendals were a bit clearer and as for price, as I mention in the video you could go with the more expensive and even bigger Arendal 1723 series and still be under the JBLs.
@@RandomDistractionsYTyou sure he hasn't got the 3600? The 3800 are dangerous!
@@themafia3119i think the 1723 thx beats the 3800. I would prob sell my 3800 and buy them
@@chriss881000- How bout the 3800’s at $1398.00 each right now? That seems tough to beat.
Thats just crazy. I paid 6700$ for my 3800, and they will never go on sale
What did you think of the L800 overall vs your 1723S?
Visually they are a great looking speaker, the sound is really good, and the SDA function actually does make an audible difference. For the price though I would still go with the 1723 S and could actually even go with the bigger brother the 1723 and be under and get really darn close to that same sound.
I have yet to hear a horn that is equal to or better than beryllium tweeter or even HQ ribbon, for higher frequencies. Horn has its pros, but its not for me.
I had the Revel 228be and JBL 4367 in the same room (I owned both at the same time) and I can assure you the JBL’s highs smoke the Revels. By themselves the revels are fine but next to the JBL they sound splashy and lacked separation. On the revel you could hear the high hat hit but on the JBL you could hear the ride fizzle out which was lost on the revel. One might think it is frequency response but the JBL is actually more rolled off. The compression driver is silly light, does not need to move much and has a massive magnet on it. It all just works out to a lot of control.
There are definitely a lot of bad sounding horn speakers out there that create that stereotype. Don't miss out if you get a chance to hear some good ones.
does buying RP-504C II instead 3 way bookshelf speaker make movies sound better ?i watch only movies no music thanks
If you are able to listen to both in your space, that would tell you for sure which is better. In my case I went with a bigger center channel because I know that a lot of sound comes from the center channel so wanted to have something that could handle it well. I've been really happy with that choice and they are a great match to my 1961 towers. As another person mentioned though, if you have bookshelf speakers as your front speakers as well, having a bigger center may sound tonally different so having a matching bookshelf for the center would sound more cohesive. That is why I mentioned that if you are able to listen to both, that would be the best way to know for sure. Best of luck with your decision.
Thanks for sharing. I'm sure many will appreciate those graphs. However, the sole judge is a blind test for me, even if "something" appears on a graph between "xKHz and xKHz". But it's just me.
Definitely agree, listening in person for sure is the best way to experience that and any speakers really especially in your own listening space as that will affect it as well.
the polk L800s are ALL about the SDA . to turn it off is to create another speaker entirely . aside from that the SDA can NOT be heard in this manner . a live sitting is essential to hear the effect
Definitely agree, listening in person for sure is the best way to experience that and any speakers really.
If you're using bookshelf speakers as your fronts, an exact matching bookshelf speaker as your center channel will almost always sound better than a dedicated center channel. You'll typically pay a lot less for it as well. Even if you buy a center channel that is supposed to technically match your fronts, they don't. Cabinet sizes are different, driver layout is different and inevitably it will be vastly tonally different. Bookshelf speakers make great center channels in general and it's a great option that more people should consider. I'd go as far as to say in general a high quality bookshelf speaker will outperform a high quality dedicated center channel in many instances. Of course you want to keep them vertical which might be problematic for some spaces.
Thanks for sharing that @mikescott5440. I will say that I'm actually quite impressed at how well the 1723 S center matches my 1961 towers. I actually did a double-take when I was running room correction and it was going from the left to center to right as it felt like the sound was just moving from one end to the other but not that it was going from one speaker to another. That is of course with towers, that are much bigger, so do feel like your point of doing all bookshelf speakers, including a center, would be a better match when going that route.
