ICELAND 2020 - with an offroad VW 6.1 California Beach, hiking and biking. Iceland was completely empty. There were almost no tourists. I took hightland roads they did not even had a name without meeting anybody for 2 days. Most of the scenes were shot in the highlands of ICELAND. Around Landmannalaugar, Askia, Álftavatn, Þórsmörk and other beautiful places in the Icelandic hights. Some footage...
very good video very inspiring what is your wheel sizes ? do you have + 30 mm extra lift vb air suspension or normal one ?
HI, I have a VB air suspension. So +3 as standard and an additional 3 as max. The tires at this time weren 225/45/R17 I guess.
@@julianascher1796 thank you for the answers . are 225 45 17 s good enough for off-road or 235s -245s or 55-65s 70s are better choices ?
@@barbarosmete in my experince for offroading a big diameter tyre and a small rim diameter ist king, so it can flex with low presure. And you do not need it wiede - the narror the better, but this is my personal meaning. have a look at my pinzgauer (instagram.com/rahelectric/) different car but very narrow tyers - very capable in offroading

Hi, automatic. VB Airsupension and allmost full package from terranger.de - there you also find the winch

HI, yes it has the original diff lock and I used it only a few times...
@@julianascher1796 thanks for that I just about to purchase one and I used to live in Iceland some years also so I suddenly realised that this van may be such a good thing for me. Do you by any chance know if diff lock can be added if it was not added in the original, I don't think the one I am looking at has it.
@@aishlingmullerify Hi, no, as far as I know you can not add it afterwords. But I think more important than a diff lock would be a shorter first gear or better a reduction. But a reduction is not available with VW-Buses, only a shorter first gear if you have manual shifting. I you want a reduction there you better buy a Sprinter from Mercedes.

Congratulations! Great video! Been to Iceland 3 times and heading back this summer again. Some of our favorit hikes were in Landmannalaugar, Thormorsk, Maelifell, Rauðibotn, Langisjor, Vatnajokull NP. I was wondering if you could share your favorite spots ? Thanks.

Hi Julian I'm looking at Iceland for next year. I'll be in my Subaru Outback which i have great faith in but I'm undecided as to whether I should raise the air intake. Did you make any modifications to your VW? I've added a shovel to my list of equipment after watching :)
Hi, yes I put alle Air-stuff up. Below the windsheeld. And I would recomend 4 Sandborads if you do not have lower offroad gears.

Hi, vielen Dank für Deinen Kommentar. Ich habe auch schon einiger Eurer Videos angesehen. Respekt was ihr mit dem langen Radstand schafft! Ich hat mit dem kurzen schon oft Probleme gehabt, vor allem in Island (ruclips.net/video/yjqnnvGCNc0/видео.html) Die Transpirenaica steht unbedingt auch noch auf meinem Plan. Hast Du hier vielleicht einen guten GPS-Track für mich?

@@planBwagen ok, logo verstehe ich, vielleicht hast Du ja sonst einen guten tipp ;) Weil auch der Track von Pistenkuh hat mich nicht überzeugt, hier sind viele Km auf Teer zu fahren
@@julianascher1796, auch auf unserer Tour waren etliche Kilometer Landstraße. Vor allem an Beginn und Ende. Man muss halt erst mal rein. Wenn Du auf unserem Blog schaust, da haben wir schon mal ein paar Tipps zusammengefasst. Da kommt noch mehr. Doch wir sind gerade etwas „Social Media Faul“. Nach einer Pause geht es weiter. Tipp: Bleib mehr auf der spanischen Seite. Da sind deutlich mehr Wege offen. Wir waren eine größere Gruppe. So war an wild stehen kaum zu denken. Allein sicher gut möglich.

Hi Julian, we could have meet last summer, as I also was in the highlands. Btw, producing videos and photography from there. Congratulations for your film, most places are very familiar. I used to travel twice a year to Iceland, before covid... Just curious about three locations from your video. If you don't mind to give away 🙂 at 3:40 the mountain looks like Uxatindar, but haven't found a waterfall around, at 5:47 is that in the Askia area ? and finally at 8:35, the canyon. So far I never flew my drone over 150 meters, but looking at your footage I definetaly will give a try... 😆 Thanks and all the best, Patrick
hi, 3:40 the river ist Skafá, what picture do you mean? The Galcier is in Þórsmörk, the bus is a very remote road from landsjör back to north close to Tungnaá, then the area of Álftavatn...
@@julianascher1796 Thank you Julian. Maybe there is some time shift in the video. Ok for the first one with Skafta river. The second is just before the glacier, with your van and the conic mountain behind and the third one is a canyon with a tortuous river...
@@DreamBig Hi, the canyon must be from the ringroad in the south the Stigá river comes out, before Hólárjökull - but I am not 100% sure....

Wow! This is breathtakingly beautiful! I also really love the editing of the movie being in tune with the rhythm of the music. And even more impressive: Whenever a question formed in my mind (like, “did they get stuck with their car” or “did they also use their bikes” or “how did the car handle all the driving through water”), usually it got answered within half a minute. Quite a work of art!

Hallo Bernd, vielen Dank für dein Feedback. Ja, das ist ein komplett Umbau von Terranger. Ansaugstutzen und alle Entlüftungen hochgelegt, sowie ein Luftfahrwerk und eine komplette Unterbodenverkleidung. Alles Maßnahmen die absolut notwendig waren und ohne diese ich einige Strecken nicht hätte fahren können.
Das ist das beste Video, das wir über Island gesehen haben. Wir sind sehr begeistert. Die entstandenen Bilder sind klasse. Für uns weckt es tolle Island Erinnerungen. Viele Grüße Uta und Udo
